"That's right," Celeste replied firmly.

Infuriated, Cindy said angrily, "Great. Just great. You really have some guts. I want to see how long someone with no status or family background to speak of can remain in the Jones family. Let's just see how someone who doesn't even know who her parents are is going to marry into the Jones family."

Celeste's face turned deathly pale almost immediately.

These words were a fatal blow to her.

She bit her lips anxiously, her back straight and her whole body stiff. She gripped her phone and opened her mouth to speak.

However, Gary snatched the phone over and said in a deep voice, "Cindy, Celeste is the most suitable candidate to marry into the Jones family. I, Gary Smith, don't need to look for a woman with a background or family that is similar to mine. So, you don't have to worry about Celeste at all."

When Cindy heard his voice, she was stunned. She had not expected Celeste to be with Gary at that moment.

However, she returned to her senses within a few seconds and replied coldly, "Oh, so you're Master Gary. Your surname is still Smith?"

Gary snorted. "What does that have to do with you?"

"You even took your mother's surname. But as far as I know, your mother's surname isn't really Smith. Her father's surname is Yarbrough. Speaking of which, your mother had some quite complicated relationships. You're really a good match for Celeste after all," Cindy said, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

Gary sneered and replied in a similar tone, "It's just a surname. Unlike you, your life is a mess. Even your private life is a mess. You've probably contracted all sorts of diseases by now." "You!" Cindy fumed. Even she was no match for his sharp tongue.

"What about me? I'm just telling the truth. Cindy, not only do you have a messy private life, your brain is in a mess too. Do you really think that Michael is yours after he left his family?" "How did you know that I'm with Michael?" she demanded, becoming wary immediately.

He smiled and said, "That's not all I know. I even know that everyone on the Internet is talking about your messy private life. You've become the target of the wives of the men you seduced. You should be more careful. Don't be too arrogant. Otherwise, if someone were to take revenge on you, you wouldn't even know who your enemy is because you've offended too many people."

She sneered. "I'll wait and see what happens to you and Celeste."

"You might not be able to see what happens between Celeste and me," he replied, his tone sharp. "That's because things won't turn out well for you. Perhaps you'll get taken down by those angry wives first." "You low-life little b*stard!" she shouted.

Gary smiled. "Who are you calling a low-life?"

He retorted curtly.

She took a deep breath.

In a calm tone, Gary said, "Are you angry? You're feeling guilty, aren't you? Be careful. Those ladies won't be easy to deal with. Be careful when you're out on the streets at night too. You might encounter some bad people."

"You are a little b*stard. Even your surname is Smith. Your mother wasn't a good woman either. Before she was with your father, she already had an affair with her brother-in-law. Don't think we don't know about that," she snarled, digging up the past.

Unexpectedly, he remained calm. "You're feeling guilty. That's why you're attacking my mother. There's no need for you to judge her character. No matter how jealous you are, you won't be able to get Heinz. The smartest thing he has ever done was cut all ties with you. Otherwise, he would be disgusted to death."

"How dare you!" she roared.

"No matter what happens to me, it has nothing to do with you. If you're lonely, why don't you continue sleeping with Michael? Don't disturb Celeste because you won't get any satisfaction out of it. If you want to be comforted, it's better to go to Michael." His tone became even sharper as he continued, "Don't come looking for Celeste again. If you persist with your evil plans, I can assure you that whatever you have left of your retirement fees will be taken away. I can make you fall into poverty for the rest of your life. You'll live a life that's worse than death. If you don't believe me, just wait and see."

"You... You little b*stard," she spat out.

"Shut up!" he growled.

It stunned her into silence.

"We don't have time to waste on you." With that, Gary hung up.

Celeste looked at him and said, "Why did you have to talk to her? You should've just hung up as soon as possible."

"It's fine. She's probably feeling angrier than us." Then, he smiled and asked, "Are you all right? You don't look well. Did she make you angry? Or were you frightened by her?"

"I'm fine. Don't worry," she replied.

"She said she wasn't the one who called you. What do you think about that?" he asked, wanting to hear her opinion.

"It has to be her," she answered with certainty. "She changed her voice to confuse me. However, no matter how much she changed her voice, her tone didn't change. I'm sure that she was the one who called and threatened me."

He smiled.

She was surprised at his reaction. "Did you already know about that and deliberately asked me what I thought?"

Gary nodded. "It's true that I've known about it for a long time. She was the one harassing you all this time. I tracked those calls to her location, so I'm sure she was the one who threatened you." "Then why did you ask me?" she grumbled.

"I just wanted to see if you're able to maintain a clear sense of reasoning," he replied.

She sighed and said, "I'm sure it's her, but there's something I don't understand. If she wants to disturb and scare me, why would she call me?"

"She wanted to meet you because she didn't get the response she wanted after threatening you." As he spoke, his eyes darkened. When he thought about what Cindy had done, he found it impossible to show her any mercy.

Celeste pursed her lips. "Whatever it is, I'm just baffled by her actions. My only hope is that she won't hurt anyone else."

"After this, she won't hurt anyone else again," he said. "I guess that she must be furious because you don't want to see her."

Indeed, after the call ended, Cindy flew into a rage. "That d*mned little b*tch. She actually dares to do this to me. And that little b*stard. The two of them dare to treat me so badly."

Michael handed her a wine glass and said, "That's enough. I told you to relax for a few days to calm your mind, but you wouldn't listen. Even if you're furious and can't let it slide, put it aside for now."

"I can't let it slide," Cindy said coldly. "Nor will I endure such humiliations any longer."

With that, she downed the glass of wine in one gulp.

Michael laughed as he looked at her. "We've been staying home these few days and haven't gone out yet. Why don't we go out today?"

Cindy shook her head. "I'm not going. I'm furious."

"What are you so angry about? Come on, let's go out for a walk. Well replace something fun to do together." He pulled her up and gave her a little nudge, saying, "Go and put on some disguise. We don't want other people to know that it's you."

She shook her head resolutely. She did not want to go, so she sat back down on the sofa again. "That b*tch is as stubborn as her mother."

"You don't have to care about her," he said, trying to soothe her. "Take her mother, for example. You felt guilty about her before. Do you remember how guilty you were?"

"If I hadn't felt guilty, I wouldn't have raised her. But how did that little b*tch repay me after all these years? The guilt I felt has long disappeared," she answered, leaning back onto the sofa angrily.

When he saw that she was not leaving, he leaned closer and whispered to her, "Let's go and buy some toys. We'll buy the kind that you like. So, do you want to go?"

As he said that, his eyes roved over her body lewdly.

She fixed her eyes on a certain part of his body, then reached out and pushed him coyly. "Michael, you're so naughty."

He laughed and winked at her. "Tell me, what else do we have except for your naughtiness?"

"Money," she said with a smug smile. "You got the money Monica earned all these years. She's probably going to die of anger."

"Why did you have to go and mention her? Isn't that just ruining the mood?" Unhappy at the mention of Monica, his face darkened. "That woman has been doing so many bad things behind my back all these years. I know now that all I want is money and happiness. Nothing else matters anymore. Anyway, we won't be able to go back anymore, so let's spend the rest of our lives here happily, just the two of us." Cindy raised her eyebrows and replied with a smile, "Sure. It makes me happy to hear you say that. Let's always be this happy."

"So, shall we go buy some fun toys?" he asked, tempting her again.

She reached for his hand, saying, "Of course. Why wouldn't we?"

He pulled her up in one swift move, then went out together.

Since they had drunk some wine, they did not take their car and called for a taxi instead.

However, not long after they left, someone walked into the villa compound boldly. The man seemed familiar with the place and acted as if he was walking into his own home.

Soon, a man with a bag opened the villa's door and went in.

After half an hour, the man came out.

He closed the door, locked it, and turned to leave.

When he reached the car outside the villa, he picked up his phone and dialed a number. "I've installed surveillance cameras in most of the rooms and from different angles. Cindy and Michael have gone out, and our men are still following them. When will you pay us?"

On the other end of the line, Gary said, "I've sent thirty percent of the amount over. The bank transfers here are a little slower, so you just have to wait for a while. It won't take long."
