True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1710
Heinz successfully dissolved Gary's embarrassment. Meanwhile, the youngsters on the table all exchanged glee looks and smirked. They were pretty amazed at Heinz's quick thinking and caught the double meaning behind Heinz's words.
Heinz had said that about Liam because he knew that he and Maria were sleeping together every night. As such, Liam would need to take some health tonics to boost his energy and hormone secretion. As for Ernest, he was the only person in the house who was still single. As such, Heinz guessed that Ernest must be feeling frustrated about lacking a partner.
As such, Ernest needed something to soothe his nerves.
After what Heinz had said, everyone felt embarrassed. Maria did not dare to speak up anymore.
On the other hand, Gary shot Heinz a discreet glance when everyone wasn't noticing.
Heinz looked up silently and winked at his son. He looked very proud, as if he wanted Gary to acknowledge that he had saved Gary from divulging the truth.
Gary glared at Heinz. Without another word, he lowered his head and began to drink his soup.
Meanwhile, Celeste stayed quiet.
After the meal, Celeste found an opportunity to pass on a few words to the butler, Pedro in private.
"Mr. Butler."
When Pedro turned around and saw Celeste, he asked suspiciously, "Oh, hello Miss Celeste. Why are you in the kitchen? If there's anything you need, just tell me. Don't be shy. You didn't have to come all the way in here."
"I need to entrust you with something. Please promise me that you won't let anyone else know about this," Celeste whispered after she found that no one was close by.
"Why are you being so mysterious? Tell me, what is it? I promise to keep it a secret," Pedro lowered his voice. He was very quick to get the memo.
"Gary's body needs some patching up these few days. Can you prepare more tonics such as the soup you made for him today?" Celeste looked at the butler eagerly. She hoped that the butler would help her
out.
"Is Master Gary okay? Master Heinz told me to do the exact same thing as well. Did something happen to Master Gary? Is he okay?" Pedro asked in surprise.
Celeste's heart tightened at that. When she heard that Heinz already had everything planned, she heaved a sigh of relief.
It seemed that Uncle Heinz was very concerned about Gary's health as well. He had already been five steps ahead of her.
"It's nothing to worry about. Just do as Uncle Heinz says. Please remember to keep this to yourself. If Aunt Smith replaces out, she'll get worried. It won't be good for the babies in her belly," Celeste hurriedly said. Pedro nodded firmly and replied, "Okay, I understand. Don't worry."
"Since Uncle Heinz has given you the orders, I can be rest assured. Just continue to give him more tonics. Alright, I'll take my leave now," Celeste grinned.
"Alright, Miss Celeste," Pedro walked her out of the kitchen.
Gary had been watching them from a distance. When he noticed Celeste exiting the kitchen, he yelled, "Celeste, why were you in the kitchen?"
Celeste panicked, unable to answer.
Pedro was a tactile man. He answered Gary without missing a beat, "Miss Celeste asked me to cut you some fruits. She's worried that the soup will make you queasy." Celeste was taken aback, but she quickly nodded to cover it up, "That's right, thank you again. Please get the fruits out as fast as you can."
"Alright. I'll be done in a moment," Pedro smiled warmly.
Only then did Celeste walk towards Gary and met his gaze.
Gary eyed Celeste cautiously and did not notice anything out of the ordinary. He put an arm around her shoulder and suggested, "Come on, let's go for a short stroll. I need a short walk so the food can be digested."
"You want to go for a walk? Aren't you tired?" Celeste asked.
"No, I feel fine," Gary replied.
"I'm worried that you'll feel unwell," Celeste thought that it was better for Gary to rest as much as possible these few days before moving around too much. She was worried that his blood sugar would suddenly plummet and that he would faint.
Even though Gary didn't replace anything telling in Celeste's expression, he couldn't help but carefully glance at her a few more times as he said, "You're saying that as if I've suddenly turned weak." Celeste smiled awkwardly and replied, "No, I didn't mean that. Alright then, I'll go for a walk with you."
After that, Celeste took Gary's arm in hers. They did not look like a young couple holding hands. Instead, it looked like Celeste was trying to support Gary's weight as though he was a frail old man. "Celeste, why are you..." Gary trailed off. He wanted to ask if Celeste knew about what he did for Cindy.
However, he thought that it was too abrupt of a question. Hence, he decided not to.
"What is it?" Celeste looked up at him.
Gary paused for a moment before shaking his head, laughing, "It's nothing. Come on, let's go. This is the first time we've gone on a stroll after a meal, isn't it? Our time spent together is usually so fast-paced." Celeste swept her gaze over the garden in front of them and answered with a nod, "Yes, that seems to be the case. We have never taken a walk together like this before. It's nice, isn't it?"
Gary lowered his head to look her in the eyes. He beamed widely.
His smile was gentle and warm.
Gary and Celeste strolled around the garden for an hour.
Later that night, while Gary was taking a shower, Celeste called her professor over the phone.
"Mr. Yohan, I have something to discuss with you."
"What is it?"
"I want to apply for the long-term exchange programme to Boston."
"Why? Are you dissatisfied with my teaching?" Mr. Yohan asked in surprise.
"No, it's not that. I want to apply because of personal reasons. I really have nothing against you. In fact, I think you're an amazing teacher. I feel honored to be your student, but I have my own reasons for wanting to study in Boston."
"What happens once I agree to this?"
"I'm afraid that I'll have to drop out. I'll have to start over again at another university in Boston. However, I sincerely hope that you can assist me with my application to go for an exchange there. There's research available there for me to participate in, isn't there? I know you're close with the people there, so I thought it would be better to ask you for help on this," Celeste said frankly.
Mr. Yohan hesitated and asked, "Can you tell me what your personal reasons are?"
"I'm going because of love," Celeste gave Mr. Yohan her answer after a moment's pause.
Mr. Yohan sighed after hearing that, "I see."
"Mr. Yohan, I'm sorry for causing you so much trouble," Celeste said apologetically.
"It's fine. Since you've already decided, I'll respect your decision. I'll assist you with your application. When do you want to leave?"
"Preferably in two weeks' time," Celeste answered.
"Okay, wait for my call."
After Celeste hung up the phone, she took a deep breath. She thought that she had made the right decision.
She was certain that Gary wouldn't stop her from going to Boston this time.
Two days later.
Celeste received a phone call from Mr. Yohan, "Celeste, I've signed you up for a year-long exchange to Boston. I've sent all the documents and forms to your email. Take a look at it and send them back to me after you've filled them in."
Celeste hurriedly checked her email and scanned through the details. Without any hesitation, she filled in her information and sent the forms back to her professor.
The procedure was completed very quickly. After everything was settled, Celeste managed to replace some time to tell Grace and Heinz about it.
That weekend, she managed to talk to Grace and Heinz privately.
"Uncle Heinz, Aunt Smith, I have something to tell you guys."
Grace hurriedly opened her bedroom door and asked, "Celeste, what's the matter? Come in, we can chat here."
Celeste held a stack of papers in her hand. She walked into the room and handed them over to Grace, saying, "These are the documents from my application to study in Boston. When Gary heads back to Boston in about a week's time, I will be going with him to study as well."
After hearing the news, Grace was stunned momentarily. A while later, she burst out chuckling, "This is such a large decision. You didn't even ask us about it before you applied."
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to keep this from you guys. I was just worried that I wouldn't be able to apply for it in time," Celeste was apologetic.
"I'm not mad at you. In fact, I think you've made the right decision. You should accompany him. If you don't go with him, he'll come flying back to you as often as he can. To be honest, I was looking forward to his frequent visits. I like it when the four of you are here."
Heinz was surprised as well. He did not think Celeste would make such a bold move.
It seemed that he had underestimated Celeste. He did not notice that she was this courageous and determined before.
"I want to go to Boston with Gary. He has done so much for me, so I want to do something in return for him too. Perhaps my initiative will be a good turning point in our relationship."
