Maria and Leah spent the rest of the day indulging themselves. The two girls did not glimpse at their phones at all.

Shopping was like therapy for them. After they were done, they found another restaurant to have supper. After they were officially seated, they turned to look at each other. Leah asked Maria, "Do you want to head back now?"

Maria snapped back to her senses and took out her mobile phone. She saw that she had received dozens of missed calls.

She froze for a moment and groaned, "Oh no, both Ernest and Liam have called me so many times. Check your phone too. How many calls did you get?"

Leah suddenly realized that it had been a long while since she last looked at her phone. Her phone was still in silent mode.

She hurriedly took out her phone and was shocked to see that she had dozens of missed calls.

She showed Maria her phone and sighed, "Look, I

have dozens of missed calls from Liam and Ernest as well. Oh, there are also some calls from home as well."

Maria stuck out her tongue, "I didn't think they would call us so many times. Let's head back now. If we loiter too long, it'll look like we've done it on purpose."

"Yes, I agree. So, how do you feel? Are you feeling better now?" Leah asked.

Maria pursed her lips and replied, "I'm still a little upset. I always do whenever I think about it. Even though I've long known about this matter, I replace it a little difficult to breathe whenever I recall him saying that he likes Celeste."

Anyone would get upset if they were in the same situation as Maria.

Leah thought for a moment and suggested, "Well, we've spent quite some time clearing our mind, and we've already vented our emotions out to each other as well. I think we're ready to head back and face the music, don't you think?"

"But I think if we act as if nothing happened, they'll surely think that something's off. What should we do when they start asking questions?" Maria was still a little scared by the idea of heading back. She had to admit that whenever she was faced with Liam, she would become extremely timid.

She loved him too much.

"We'll figure it out when we get to it, alright? They've already admitted that they like Celeste, so I suppose we should be honest and admit that we're jealous and angry at them for it. I think it's best to be frank with them. It's not like there's a reason to hide," Leah said frankly.

Maria laughed when she heard this, "Leah, you're really awesome. You always manage to say what I can't."

"Thanks for the praise," Leah chuckled, "If they still like Celeste, it's fair for us to be angry at them, don't you think? Otherwise, it would be too unfair. We have the right to be angry at them."

Maria liked Leah's attitude. The thoughts Leah had were the same ones she had as well.

"Yes, I completely agree. We do have the right to be angry. But I can also choose not to break up with him because I still love him. I can still love him even if I'm angry at him."

Maria felt a little embarrassed after she finished speaking.

Leah could not hold back her laughter any longer. She looked at Maria and giggled, "You're getting bolder and bolder by the day, aren't you? That's what I like to see! You can fancy him all you want since no one's stopping you."

"Aren't you in love with Ernest? Will you really break up with him in anger?"

"Of course I won't. I'm angry at him because of his attitude, not because of the fact that he likes Celeste. I'm angry at him because as soon as I mention Celeste, his face instantly darkens! This attitude of his is pretty hurtful. He acts like Celeste is his weakness. I can't even mention her in front of him."

That was what hurt her most.

Maria looked a little absent-minded as she muttered, "I thought that Liam didn't like Celeste anymore. I thought he would eventually come to like me after spending so much time with me. After all, Celeste and Gary has stayed here together for some time already."

"Everything was alright for a long while. But whenever I think about him admitting to still liking Celeste in front of Ernest before, I just can't help myself from getting upset," Maria added.

"But I suppose I've spent enough time licking my own wounds. I have to head back and try my best to change Liam's mind. I'm sure that he'll cave eventually. He'll learn to care for me more than he does for Celeste in the future. I have plenty of time to do that. Four years ago, I once thought that there was no hope for me and Liam to be together, but look at us now! We've become a couple against all odds." "There are miracles everywhere in life. If I can turn him into my boyfriend. What else can't I do?"

"That's the Maria I know!" Leah stood up and announced, "Let's go, then. We'll head back and continue to change their minds. We'll act as if nothing had happened, alright? We'll just have to face the situation head on."

"Let's go! I'm sure we'll be able to get through this," Maria stood up as well.

They reached home an hour later.

When they walked into the house, the atmosphere felt strange. The place was too quiet, as if no one was around.

Pin drop silence filled the room.

Maria and Leah looked at each other, puzzled.

At that very moment, Pedro suddenly exclaimed, "Oh, you're both finally back! The young masters have been looking everywhere for the both of you. They were getting so anxious and went out to replace you guys. Since you're both back home, I'll give them a call to inform them immediately."

It turned out that Ernest and Liam went out to replace them.

Maria and Leah heaved a collective sigh of relief.

They glanced at each other, then straightened their backs. Leah said to Pedro, "Mr. Butler, I think you should tell them a little later. Let them have some time to themselves outside for a bit. We're going to pack up some of the stuff we bought first, then take a shower. Can you call them later?"

Leah tried to hint at Pedro.

Immediately, Pedro seemed to catch on and replied with a smile, "Of course. Please go ahead. I'll give them a call later."

After that, Leah and Maria carried their bags back to their rooms. Leah made her way to the guest room on the third floor. She placed everything she bought on the floor inside her room. She tried to arrange them in order, smiling happily as she did so.

After she was done sorting her purchases out, she went to the bathroom to take a shower. Then, she changed into her pajamas and let loose her hair, allowing it to droop behind her. She plopped herself down on the floor and continued to sort through the items she bought once more.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

Leah looked at the door, but did not get up to open it. She just sat on the floor and listened to the continuous knocking on the door.

She didn't have to open the door to know who was outside and chose to stay quiet.

Just like that, she willed herself to stay on the floor. She refused to open the door.

After a long moment, Ernest's voice came through from outside the door, begging, "Leah, open the door."

Leah pursed her lips and stayed on the floor. She crossed her legs and fixed her gaze on the things on the floor. After a long pause, she said, "The door isn't locked, you can come in yourself." Ernest pushed open the door.

Soon enough, Ernest's tall figure could be seen looming at the door.

He wore a grave expression on his handsome face. He stared at Leah deeply with a bunch of emotions stirring in his eyes.

When he saw Leah sitting cross-legged on the floor, his heart suddenly tightened.

Her hair was loose and damp. It seemed that she had just taken a shower.

The fragrance of the shower gel mixed with her own unique scent made her incredibly attractive.

When Ernest got a whiff of her scent, he felt his insides tighten up.

He took a deep breath, closed the door behind him and walked in. His gaze was fixed on Leah the entire time.

He did not move his eyes away from Leah's pretty face.

Just then, Leah raised her head and returned his gaze.

She noticed that Ernest's eyes were bloodshot. He looked exhausted.

For some reason, her heart ached at the sight.

Leah forced a smile on her face and gestured, "Hey, look at all the stuff I bought!"

Ernest shifted his eyes downwards to look at the cute little trinkets on the floor.

It seemed that everything Leah picked out had a distinctive London feel to them.

He nodded and said slowly, "They look good."

Leah's head was still raised. However, after a long while, she felt her neck start to protest against the pressure.

She lowered her head to stop her neck from aching, moving her gaze away from Ernest.

Ernest could not bear to see Leah look away.

He was unable to meet her gaze, so he bent down and tried to catch Leah's attention once more.

By doing so, he was able to see Leah's face clearly again. Her beautiful face looked pale and soft. He thought she looked adorable and felt his heart soften the more he looked at her. Leah did not know how to react. She mumbled, "I've been shopping the entire day, so I'm pretty exhausted. I'm going to bed soon. You don't have to worry much about me. I'm fine."
