After hanging up the phone, Leah got into a cab and said nothing after telling the cab driver her address. She was staring at the lights out of the window. Her heart was beating wildly without her knowing why.

However, her heart was also aching at the same time. Tears welled up in her eyes.

Her tears flowed down in silence. The cab driver couldn't help but steal a few glances at Leah through the rearview mirror.

He felt sorry for a pretty lady like her to be crying like this.

He was smart enough to not disrupt her crying.

After more than ten minutes, Leah's eyes were already red and swollen from the crying. The driver then asked, "Young lady, what's the matter? Why were you crying?"

Leah shook her head. "I'm fine."

She was a little embarrassed.

The cab driver continued, "Were you crying over a guy? Let me give you some advice. It's not that terrifying to fall out of love. You have to grow stronger from this. Otherwise, with your eyes swelling like that, I'm afraid you won't be able to attract the next guy."

Leah burst into laughter.

He was a funny guy.

She shook her head and denied, "I'm not crying over a guy."

"Then what made you cry like that?" The cab driver obviously didn't believe her words. Nothing else could make a girl cry like this.

"I'm really not crying over a guy." Leah still denied.

"That's what all the heartbroken girls would say. Forget it then. Anyway, I can tell that girls at your age would normally fall for the bad guys," the driver said.

Leah couldn't hold back her laughter upon hearing this. "Why do you know everything?"

"You see, I was right about you falling out of love," the driver said.

"No. I'm not. I just felt like crying." Leah said.

"Why would you be standing so long at the intersection then? I saw you on the phone for a long while too," the driver said.

Leah's heart missed a beat. She asked, "D-did you notice me? Then why don't you tell me if I'm in

love or am I out of love?"

The driver sounded surprised, "Do you not know that yourself?"

The driver shook his head. She must be overwhelmed by her emotions that she couldn't think straight anymore.

He then observed Leah for a moment before saying, "Kid, you have to keep a clear mind whether or not you're falling out of love. Bad guys are everywhere. Don't fall for their charm and sweet words." Leah nodded. "You're right."

Sure enough, wisdom increased with age.

The cab driver was a perfect example of this.

Leah wiped away her tears and then laughed.

She didn't think that she was falling out of love.

The man who broke her heart was looking for her again.

However, she ended his call with pride and dignity. Although she was longing for him, she felt refreshed after doing so. At least she was no longer begging for his attention this time.

Leah laughed as she got reminded of all the words he blurted out during the phone call.

It was more than enough.

She had already vented out her anger. She was planning to unblock his number the next day.

There was no need for her to hold her head up too high.

She just needed to vent her anger.

Leah couldn't hold back her excitement at the thought of Ernest looking for her.

Her tear-stained eyes could not help but curve into crescent moons. She was clearly in a better mood.

The driver stole a glance at her again. He was confused. "Kid, I'm starting to wonder if are you falling out of love or not. You're laughing now. Could it be that you've gotten back together with him?" "You're really good at this." Leah laughed. "I did fall out of love, but we're not getting back together. He did look for me, but we're not there yet."

"I'm glad to hear that," the driver said, "I hope that your ex isn't a horrible person. Don't fall for a jerk."

Jerk?

Leah wondered.

Was Ernest a jerk?

Obviously not.

She shook her head. "He's a decent person."

There was nothing horrible about him, except for the possibility that he might not love her enough.

"That's good to know. Everything is possible as long as he's not a jerk," the driver replied.

They already arrived at her hostel. Leah got out of the cab.

She ran into Hogan downstairs.

He was carrying his backpack as he walked out from a dark corner. He was staring creepily at Leah.

Leah was shocked. She subconsciously scanned her surroundings. It was already 10 p.m. Northern City's winter was chillier than other places. People would often stay indoors.

There was no one else around them either at this hour.

Not even a passer-by.

Leah was a little frightened.

Staring at Hogan's pale and icy expression, she frowned. "Hogan, what are you doing here again?"

Hogan snorted. "You have great connections, don't you? Do you think you can keep me under control forcefully?"

Leah recalled that Hogan was taken away the last time he came looking for her. She was startled upon recalling that scene too.

She hadn't seen Hogan for a long time ever since that incident.

Yet, he was already standing in front of her.

Leah frowned. She looked at Hogan with caution.

He started walking towards Leah.

"What are you doing?" Leah suddenly shouted.

Hogan was startled.

"You do look different now that you've found a higher branch to hop on," Hogan sounded sarcastic, "Let me guess. You only managed to do this by seducing him, didn't you? It's not like you have other skills to help you with."

"You're right, I did replace myself a higher branch to hop on." Leah decided to outsmart Hogan instead of explaining herself.

She visualized that it would take her around two minutes to reach her unit from this place. Hogan was much taller than her. She wouldn't make it in time.

She didn't want to fall into his trap.

She got a little reluctant after seeing Hogan's expression.

Hogan let out a cold laugh. "Is Ernest still your higher branch, or did you replace someone else?"

Leah sneered. "Why? You want to hear me say I've found some greasy old rich man to hop on, don't you?" "Isn't that the case now that you've broken up with Ernest?" Hogan sneered.

"Hogan, is that who I am to you? You accused me of replaceing some rich guy to pay for my father's hospital bills, and yet you were embarrassed to replace out that it wasn't true, and here you are accusing me again. Hogan, do you really replace joy in mocking me?" Leah asked.

Hogan glared at Leah and said in a cold voice, "You were mine and you left me for another man. What should I do then? Leah, didn't you say you like me? Why did you stop liking me then?"

"I just can't bring myself to like you." Leah sneered.

"I did not like you and I will never like you."
