True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1778
"Then, let me ask you something," Leah put on a serious expression. She inhaled deeply and then asked, "What do we need to talk about? Can't you be honest with me?" She was still agitated from being puzzled by his actions.
She was weak against him.
It took much effort for her to finally toughen herself up, yet the moment he claimed that she was his woman, her defense against him was again crushed.
She was a little embarrassed and annoyed at herself.
She didn't even dare to look at him through the phone screen. She didn't want herself to keep staring at him.
She calmed herself down and mustered the courage to face Ernest.
This was the same man whom she took much effort to move on from. He was also the one who made her a hypocrite.
"We have yet to finish the stuff you bought in
London. I don't plan to take these measures with someone else. Since we bought them together, they belong to only us too. We should finish them up. This is what I wanted to say," Ernest said word by word as he stared right into Leah's eyes.
Hearing this, Leah gulped and her cheeks turned red.
She held her phone tightly and began to walk quickly.
The background got a lot dimmer. She was already standing at an intersection across from the pub.
She was stifled in her heart. She felt like she had been teased by the guy she liked.
Did he replace this amusing?
Ernest said with a smile, "I'll treat your silence as acknowledging what I said then. It seems to me that you are happy to finish them up with me too. If that's the case, I'll bring them back with me soon." "Ernest, you're way over the line."
Leah was shocked. She stared at her phone with her mouth agape. She could still see his face from her screen, yet he looked much more shameless than before.
Was that still the same Ernest she knew?
Was he still as elegant and quiet as before?
Why was he acting more shameless than a rogue?
"I'm only like this with you." Ernest replied in a low voice.
His gaze was mixed with various emotions as he asked, "Leah, can you unblock my number now?"
Ernest's tone was much gentler this time.
He whispered to Leah over the phone, "You should get back soon and unblock my number. I'll send you a video call request through my phone. Don't hang up now. At least wait until you get in a cab. Is that okay?"
"No." Leah refused directly.
She was about to cry.
It was the first time she was treated this gently.
She had been waiting for this for a long time. She even got a little impatient.
That was why she felt like crying.
It felt bitter.
It was so bitter that she felt wronged.
He was not his usual self.
Despite him acting gentle towards her, Leah still felt complicated.
Thinking of how huge a mess she was after returning from London, yet he didn't even bother to
look for her.
Leah wasn't putting on airs. She just felt like he didn't love her enough. Why was he dwelling on this if that was the case?
She didn't want to make herself look cheap.
Falling in love with Ernest was her biggest mistake.
To make it worse, it was one-sided.
Why would she unblock his number just because he wanted her to do so? Why was he always ordering her around?
Leah glanced at him and noticed that his gaze was fixed on her. She was once again drowning in his affectionate gaze.
She was in disbelief. "Ernest, do you replace this amusing? Do you really think you can just order me around as you please? I'm not that foolish!" Ernest's heart clenched upon hearing Leah's words.
He took in her grieved expression.
He took a breath and said, "Leah, there are obviously some misunderstanding between us. Let's clear things up!"
"I don't think it's necessary. I've already made myself clear. If it wasn't clear enough, we still had more than a month's time to think things through.
I've decided to leave things behind and move on from you. Please stop saying that I'm yours. We are officially done now." Leah said.
Ernest's heart ached more to hear how wronged she sounded. He said gently, "I know you're still mad at me. I know you feel wronged. I also know that you're really considering ending things with me. But then, Leah, I don't agree to this. We shouldn't end like this. Please just unblock my number so that I can reach you anytime. We still have a future ahead, Leah. Let's not live in regrets."
Leah ignored him. She glanced at the screen again and took in his face for the last time before ending the call.
Seeing that the call had suddenly ended, and Leah's face was nowhere to be seen through the black screen, Ernest got anxious. He sent another video call request to Leah's number. But this time, Leah rejected the invitation.
She rejected his call.
He got even more anxious as he could no longer use Maria's phone to reach her.
He had no choice but to try with his phone.
His number was still blocked.
He immediately shouted, "Pedro, give me your phone."
The door opened.
Pedro and Maria walked in together. They were worried as they saw Ernest's expression.
Maria asked worriedly, "Ernest, did it not work?" "Maria, help me reach Leah again," Ernest said. "Why don't you calm down first? I'm sure she's mad at me too for letting you talk to her without her knowledge. Give me some time to think of a way," Maria said.
