True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1830
Simon was stunned and he actually couldn't answer her.
He was not related to Grace, but technically, he was Grace's brother-in-law then. So, he should still be considered her relative.
Seeing that Simon was hesitant to answer, Marry said with a calm expression, "Are you not answering because you dare not answer, or is it because you feel guilty?"
Simon broke out in cold sweat at her question.
He gasped at her, looking a little embarrassed, he said, "Marry, I..."
He didn't know how to continue.
Marry smiled and slowly approached him.
She quickly arrived by his side. Simon could even smell the perfume that smelled expensive, lingering in the air.
It was a classy scent.
Simon could tell that it was from a luxurious French brand. The scent was light and fragrant.
His body stiffened as he smelled the scent. He felt tense, and he didn't dare look at Marry.
Marry walked around Simon and her eyes was fixed on him. He was different.
Simon had changed.
He was no longer the handsome man she used to know. There was a scar on his face and he lost half of his ear. Although he was trying hard to cover those flaws with his hair, he still couldn't hide the fact that he had aged poorly.
He was no longer looking like his usual goodlooking self.
Marry sighed with sorrow. It was as if she was feeling sorry for him. Simon immediately reacted. "Marry."
Marry smiled. "Simon, what are we actually fighting for? We know we can never win against them, yet we risked everything to fight against them. What's the point? We wasted most of our lives in this and we still failed."
Simon was in a trance. No one knew what he was thinking.
"I'm glad I finally came to realize what I should and shouldn't do. However, that doesn't seem like the case for you. You're still obsessed with your fantasy of ruining their marriage. Even if you can't ruin their marriage, you are still trying to mess with them. You are angry, you are frustrated, you think you deserve better, and you are unwilling to accept the reality. This is why you are still hung up over this despite knowing you can never beat them," Marry said.
Simon felt that Marry had hit the nail on its head.
Marry had completely exposed his thoughts with her words.
He was indeed attempting to mess with their lives even if he couldn't come in between their marriage.
He knew that he could not shake it up.
However, he was still attempting to do so.
It was a hopeless battle.
She was right.
It was indeed hopeless.
He smiled bitterly. "Have you finally accepted your fate?"
"Yes. Why wouldn't I?" Marry asked with a smile, "Should I continue to act desperately then, not knowing my own ability? I don't want to go back to jail again. I've had enough and I've done things that I've never done before in there, and I'm sure that it was the same for you too."
Simon was startled. She was right.
He had endured way too much in jail. He had done so many things in there, and his dignity was on
the floor.
It wasn't just a hard time.
It was a humiliating experience.
Marry sighed as she looked at him. "See, you think the same too. Don't let your obsession ruin your life."
Simon was silent.
Marry gave another wry smile. "If I didn't try to ruin things for Grace, I might already have my own child by now. It's a pity to think of it now as I've already passed the best age to give birth to a child. I don't even know if I can ever be pregnant now."
She missed the best age to be pregnant.
What she said deeply triggered Simon's thoughts.
Her words were like a stick hitting hard right at Simon's heart.
He was frozen in place.
He was like a statue, standing still for a long time.
His face was pale.
Pregnant. It was such a sacred term.
He didn't think much about pregnancy when he was younger, but it was different then as he aged.
He felt empty to hearing that word.
He had no child to call his own.
It was a huge hole in his life.
After a long while, Simon smiled bitterly and said, "You should still be able to get pregnant. I heard that some women can even get pregnant when they're in their fifties.
Moreover, the medical field is so advanced now. Marry, I'm sure you'll replace a way to become a mother as long as you don't give up. You must believe in yourself."
After hearing that, Marry smiled faintly and asked, "Simon, you're funny. Who should I get pregnant with then? If I'm not mistaken, we're not officially divorced yet. Are you saying that I should be carrying your baby?"
Marry was half-joking as she said that, and Simon stared blankly at her upon hearing that.
After a long pause, he said, "I can't possibly expect that from you. I don't deserve you. I'm in a bad state now, it's horrible. You deserve someone better than me."
Marry narrowed her eyes.
"Simon, don't you think that you're being a little selfish? You are now just effortless telling me these as you finally send me away, but I'm already way too old to replace someone else again." Simon stared blankly at Marry again.
"I'm already over 40 years old. You can't expect me to see someone in his twenties and have his baby, can you? Do you know what your parents told me before they passed away? They were asking me to not divorce you after you served your sentence. They asked me to put our history behind us, to continue to be with you and to raise a child with you. They wanted me to continue the bloodline for the Brown family," Marry said as she fixed her gaze on Simon. Simon was taking each of her words into his heart.
Simon's body swayed a little.
His face instantly turned pale.
He stared at Marry with mixed emotions.
Did his parents say that?
He didn't know what to say, as he was overwhelmed with his emotions.
He looked at Marry in disbelief. Judging from her tone, was she still in love with him?
He found it hard to believe.
Was she still in love with him? Was she still willing to bear his child?
If she had that thought, why didn't she look for him in the first place?
He had been released from prison for so long, but she had never looked for him. He thought that she would never bother about him again, but there she
was.
He was really too surprised.
Did she mean that she wanted to revive their marriage?
Simon felt as if his hopeless life was finally brightened up again after hearing that.
He suddenly felt like there was still hope in his life after the bad days were over. His heart was beating wildly as he stared at Marry blankly.
With a trembling voice, he asked in disbelief, "Marry, are you saying that you're willing to raise a child with me?"
Marry looked at him with a little disappointment in her eyes.
"Simon, I'm really quite disappointed in you. I thought you'd learn a thing or two in jail, but it seems like that wasn't the case at all," Marry said with great disappointment.
Simon felt terrible to hear that too.
"You'd rather spend your time scheming against Heinz and Grace than to look for me. It's obvious that I'm not important to you at all," Marry said.
"It's not like that. It's not true. Don't get me wrong." Simon shook his head. His gaze was filled with worry that Marry was mad at him. He immediately said, "I do want to continue to live my life with you.
I do love you, and I can't do anything about that, but I don't know how you feel about me."
"I'm sorry," Simon apologized quickly. He felt that he owed Marry an apology anyway.
"I don't need your apology," Marry said in a deep voice, "You better start thinking about what you want in your life, and look for me again only when you have an answer. Otherwise, don't look for me at all." As soon as she finished speaking, Marry turned around and walked out.
Simon panicked and shouted quickly, "Marry, wait a minute."
Marry stopped and turned back to look at him calmly. She asked, "What else do you want?"
"Marry, I have something to tell you. Please just wait for me no matter what happens. I'll tell you once I'm done negotiating with Heinz," Simon shouted in a hurry, "Heinz, get back in here."
