True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1845
That might be why they were still single at their age.
Eamon was already 33 years old.
She remembered that Zayne was only two years younger than him.
Both being such eligible bachelors, if they hadn't found love so late, perhaps they really had been hurt before.
Grace sighed and said to her younger brother, "Zayne, if the breakdown of our parents' marriage made you and Eamon unwilling to replace girlfriends, then I'm sorry. Perhaps my appearance is the reason you two were disappointed with mom and dad."
"Grace, this has nothing to do with you." Zayne shook his head immediately. "Eamon and I are not married with wives and we don't have girlfriends, but that's not on you at all."
Grace looked at her brother tenderly and said, "However, no matter how I think about it, I still feel that it has a lot to do with me. If I hadn't appeared back then, dad wouldn't have divorced. Their marriage was beautiful, but it broke down because of me. In fact, I am also very upset about it. Dad has been leading a hard life these years, and aunt has fared no better."
Grace felt genuinely remorseful in her heart, and she was very frustrated.
She hoped that everything would go smoothly and be perfect, and that they could all live together happily in harmony.
"Grace, as I said, it has nothing to do with you. You're right, I don't want to look for a girlfriend because of our parents, but it's not because of their divorce. It's more with regard to their personalities, really." "Their personalities?" Grace was a little confused.
Zayne nodded, looking serious. "Yup, their personalities. I've always thought a mother should be generous and loving, but she wasn't."
Zayne was extremely disappointed. He loved his mother very much, and that was why his disappointment increased exponentially.
He felt deeply sorry for Grace,
That was because Grace was also innocent.
His mother was the woman who interrupted the existing relationship, and she was the one who hurt his father's first wife. That was unacceptable no matter what.
Zayne was very disappointed and held a deep grudge against his mother.
"I can't tolerate a mother who's willing to kill another person's child, and I can't have a role model be doing that to an innocent child. Even animals can do better." Zayne's tone was indignant as he spoke. Grace was taken aback, and she gently patted him on the back to comfort him.
Zayne took a deep breath and calmed down a lot.
"He even wanted to torture you. Humans change at the slightest whiff of profit, and what happened made me fear that a woman might turn on me cruelly just like that. That's why I don't want to get a girlfriend, as I don't want her to become ruthless and cruel. To put it simply, I just don't want my girlfriend to be as vile as my mother."
Grace was stunned.
She didn't expect Zayne to be so principled.
He could tell right from wrong very clearly.
Grace comforted Zayne, saying, "Hey, don't think like that. Your mother was just too afraid of losing dad at that time, and I can understand what she was feeling. At the time, she might've just temporarily lost herself."
"Stop comforting me, Grace." Zayne shook his head in disappointment. "I know you're very kind, but that just makes my mother look even more evil in comparison."
"Zayne, I'm not comforting you." Grace felt that Zayne should have been able to get over the matter after all those years.
However, it was obvious that Zayne was still affected then.
She felt that he could not go on like that.
She had to help Zayne to stop thinking about it.
Otherwise, it would affect Zayne's life.
She looked at Zayne and said anxiously, "Zayne, you really can't keep on thinking like this. You really need to stop blaming your mother. It's been so many years, and the matter has been long resolved. Even dad doesn't mind it anymore, and the same is for me as well. You're the only one that keeps thinking about it. That's your mother, you know."
"That's exactly why I'm so pissed off. It's because she's my mom." Zayne smiled wryly at Grace. "I always thought that teaching was a very noble profession when I was younger, and I was proud to have a mom who was a teacher."
"Teaching is indeed an honorable occupation."
Grace wholeheartedly agreed with what he said. The first person a child made contact with outside their home was a teacher, so they would obviously want a good and sensible one. If they ran into a bad one, they would forever be traumatized, and they might keep the bad memories with them for the rest of their lives.
However, Grace did not know what Zayne had encountered that made him to have such high demands for his teachers.
In fact, Grace had already long forgotten what had happened back then.
It was unhealthy to dwell on things for too long. After all, Quinn might have only tried to kill her out of desperation.
To be honest, Grace felt like Quinn should have regretted her actions after the incident as well.
After all, she lost her marriage and children because of it, and all her children hated her.
Grace earnestly felt that all that punishment Quinn had gone through over the years was enough, and Zayne didn't have to do that anymore.
Moreover, Quinn and her father had been reunited. What else was there to be hung up on?
Zayne shook his head and said to Grace, "I can't let it go, Grace. I can understand what happened, but I can't forgive her, do you get it?"
Grace sighed and replied, "Actually, there's no need for you to be like this. I know you're very principled, but not everything is black and white.
Some things, we just have to forget it and let it go."
Zayne smiled bitterly. "I can't forget it at all. Why do you think I'm so upset?"
Grace narrowed her eyes, and she felt really sorry for Zayne.
She was the person who was involved in the matter, but she hardly ever thought about it anymore after all those years had passed, yet Zayne still did. It was completely out of Grace's expectations. She took a deep breath and comforted Zayne in a soft voice. "Zayne, are you worried about me?"
Zayne paused for a moment before he nodded.
"If you're worried about me, then do you realize that I'm worried about you too?" Grace asked. Zayne was stunned.
"If you care about me, then you should know that I'm pregnant right now. My children, bless them, haven't given me any trouble at all, but I'm most worried about you and Eamon." Grace gave Zayne a gentle yet serious look.
Zayne tensed, and emotions flickered through his eyes.
"Let it go." Grace patted his shoulder. "You need a girl to bring you some happiness and warmth in life, and I'm pretty sure a girl who takes the initiative to pursue you has to be a good one. She must be someone who's positive and bubbly."
