True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1884
"What book were you planning to buy?" Celeste asked again.
From the looks of it, Sylvia did not hear what Celeste had just said.
The girl's mind was probably still on Kendrix.
Celeste couldn't help but sigh inwardly. It was hard for a little girl, who had just experienced love, to control her emotions.
Celeste herself could not control her own emotions sometimes, so it was probably much more difficult for someone younger like Sylvia to deal with her own. Celeste was worried for Sylvia.
It was a bad idea to have a crush on one's own teacher at such a young age.
It seemed that love would always be something that was both annoying and gratifying in life.
Anyone with eyes could tell that Sylvia had fallen in love with her teacher.
However, it seemed that the teacher did not return the feelings. He had been ruthless, even heartless.
Celeste could not see through the other man. She had no idea what Kendrix's true intentions were.
Gary was probably questioning Kendrix at that moment.
Celeste thought that even though Gary usually made fun of his younger sister, he had done the right thing.
He was being a good brother, and was standing up for his own sister.
Eventually, Sylvia came to her senses. She looked at Celeste and asked, "Oh, I zoned out a little. You asked me what book I was planning to buy, didn't you?"
"That's right. Well need to go look for it in a specific section, don't we? Once we get the genre down, it'll be easier to locate it. We don't have to stroll around aimlessly." Celeste smiled. Sylvia nodded and replied, "I want to buy some self-help books that talk about appreciation, and also some revision books for school."
"Alright, let's go replace your books." Celeste started to look around the bookstore.
"Okay." Sylvia nodded.
"I think the books you're looking for are over there." Celeste quickly pointed out after seeing the signs.
The two of them walked over there together.
Even so, Sylvia's eyes were still scanning everywhere for Kendrix.
Celeste did not know where Gary was either.
She knew that Gary must have gone to replace Kendrix. While he did that, Celeste continued to shop with Sylvia for the books she needed in the bookstore.
At this moment, Gary had already found Kendrix. The man was standing in front of a row of mystery books.
Gary looked at the man from afar. He was tall, slender, and looked very unapproachable.
Before, Gary had a glimpse of the man's personality. He was the type to be completely ruthless, and would not give anyone any leeway.
The man was incredibly stern.
Gary narrowed his eyes at the man's straight back for a long time. After a short while, Kendrix reached out and grabbed a book from the bookshelf. He held it in his hand and read it quietly. Gary snorted inwardly at the action. It seemed pretentious.
When he thought about how cold this arrogant man was towards his sister, and the lack of respect he had for her, he couldn't help but sneer.
He could not believe this man's audacity to overlook Sylvia.
Gary's whole body was filled with rage. He slowly walked towards Kendrix and caught a glimpse of the book that was in his hand.
Gary's eyes flashed when he saw that Kendrix was reading a detective novel. This meant that the man was probably a young genius. When he thought about how Sebastian had talked about this young genius working as a teacher, he could not help but smile.
"Mr. Trevino, you're into detective stories?" Gary's tone was stinging.
Kendrix turned his head to look at Gary. "Yes," he answered coolly.
He remained silent after that.
Since Kendrix did not elaborate, Gary had to replace a way to get him to speak. He didn't leave and remained next to Kendrix.
They were about the same height, and they were both arrogant young men. They were also very good-looking, so they attracted a lot of attention.
Gary stared at Kendrix's book, smiled and said, "Mr. Trevino, are you a cop?" "I am." Kendrix's tone was still indifferent.
Gary chuckled, "Why would a police officer suddenly become a teacher?"
Kendrix turned to look into Gary's eyes sharply. Then he asked, "You want to accuse me of being a pervert, don't you?"
Gary's heart quivered at that. He thought that Kendrix had somehow managed to read his mind.
Kendrix glanced at Gary, smiled, and said, "I can piece together a human skull out of broken bones, you know? That being said, I can read thoughts of the living very clearly."
It seemed that the man was showing off.
"If you think that I'm just telling you this to show off, then just forget about it." Kendrix was still looking at Gary. His tone was very calm.
He had guessed Gary's thoughts correctly once more.
Inwardly, Gary was crying out in disbelief.
Kendrix looked at him. "You don't have to feel off-balanced. I'm just good at reading people. I can tell that you don't like me very much."
"That's right. Don't you think that you were being too ruthless when you were talking about my sister?" Gary asked coldly. Since Kendrix could guess what he was thinking, then he would just have to make do and get one with it.
It would be too ignorant of him to pretend that that wasn't the case.
"So, you want me to flirt with her instead?" Kendrix asked back. Gary was stunned.
Kendrix's question caught him off guard.
He thought for a long while and did not know how to refute it.
It seemed that he had no comeback to that.
What could he say to that? He couldn't think of anything.
Gary hated this man for his intelligence and sharp tongue.
Gary took a deep breath. He wasn't angry anymore. He was here to settle the problem, anyway. Since Kendrix had been blunt with him, he would do the same as well.
"That's right, I hope you will at least try to flirt with her a little," Gary said bluntly.
This surprised Kendrix.
After that, he smiled, as if he had just heard a joke. He looked at Gary with an amused smile and said, "You don't mean that."
Gary smiled coldly at him. "You're wrong. Mr. Trevino, I really hope that you can be a little more intimate with my sister."
"You want me to flirt with her even though you know that there won't be a future between us?" Kendrix rebutted.
Gary nodded without a second thought. "Of course."
"Wouldn't that be worse for her?" Kendrix asked.
Gary did not back down. "Perhaps things will change in the future. Can you guarantee that you won't come to fall in love with Sylvia in the future? You can't be certain about that."
Kendrix didn't say anything this time. He only stared at Gary and seemed to understand what Gary was feeling at that moment.
"I can understand why you're standing up for your sister, but I can tell that you're not okay with the situation at all. Your sister is too young." Kendrix placed the book in his hand back into the bookshelf. Then, he turned to look at Gary. "You're younger than me too. You're kind of like a little kid to me."
Gary frowned. "How old are you?"
Kendrix smiled and answered, "I'm 24."
Gary scoffed. "You're not that much older!"
"But I'm still older than you." Kendrix smiled very calmly, as if he had read Gary's mind. He smiled faintly and continued, "You might not mind that your sister's dating someone older than you, but I may not necessarily share the same feelings."
Gary was stunned once more. "Wow, you really can read my thoughts."
"Of course, I majored in psychology." Kendrix was very confident. "I'm also experienced in many fields, I've done a lot of research in different fields."
"So you're just a really dedicated academician, then?" Gary said sarcastically.
Kendrix smiled and refuted, "Since I was able to read your thoughts, do you think I'm just that?"
Gary sneered at him.
Kendrix smiled calmly. "You don't have to be so passive aggressive. You should be relieved by my efforts. I'm trying to take care of your sister's feelings." Gary chuckled and replied indifferently, "You think my sister needs you to take care of her? She's not even sixteen yet!"
"You're right, she's too young." Kendrix smiled. "She's still young, so she should be focused on her studies instead. She hasn't been very focused recently." "Our family can afford it," Gary said in a deep voice.
"So what?" Kendrix retorted. "Will she be able to reach her peak if she stops studying?" "I have to say, you have really good points," Gary muttered. "Thank you." Kendrix smiled faintly. "Go back to them. Don't let your sister know that you came to me. Otherwise, she will feel even more embarrassed."
Gary really wanted to kick Kendrix's handsome face in. He felt that the man was insufferably arrogant.
He was very angry.
He had never met a man who was so infuriating and handsome.
Gary narrowed his eyes at Kendrix and realized that this young man, who was several years older, was indeed a genius.
He was really something.
Gary suddenly smiled and said, "I've got my eye on you."
When Kendrix heard that, not only was he not startled, but he did not seem affected by it at all. He simply glanced at Gary and said, "There's really no need for that."
"Either way, I'll be keeping a close eye on you from now on," Gary said once again.
Kendrix picked up another book, glanced at it and said, "Your sister isn't mentally strong enough to take the heartbreak. Don't interfere with her love life. If you want to be a good brother to her, you should head back to her right now."
Kendrix's words were very sincere. He did not raise his head, but he was still able to persuade Gary to do what he said.
This made Gary feel that the man must not be as annoying as he thought. Kendrix probably just didn't express what he truly wanted to say.
"I don't want to be a good brother to anyone." Gary snorted. "I don't intend to leave anytime soon."
Kendrix paused slightly, then turned his head towards Gary and said, "If you want to stay here and interrogate me further. I'll have to let you know that it won't be necessary."
Once again, Kendrix had guessed his thoughts correctly.
Gary frowned. He thought that this person was really amazing. He could see through everyone.
He was really curious about Kendrix and wanted to get to know him better.
It was rare for someone to be able to see through someone's thoughts so accurately.
Gary thought it was an amazing ability.
Gary raised his eyebrows and said, "You're not me.
How would you know that it's unnecessary?"
