True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1894
Sebastian was speechless about Gary's double standards.
It was only acceptable for them to mess around with Sylvia, but it wouldn't be for others to.
Who would be able to restrain Sylvia then?
How could one restrain Sylvia without somehow taking advantage of her?
Sebastian looked at Gary with a puzzled expression.
Gary immediately asked, "What's the matter? Is there something you want to say?"
Sebastian nodded. "Gary, I think we can make an exception for Kendrix to mess around with Sylvia. That's the only way to restrain her."
Gary rolled his eyes and said, "I think we are referring to two different concepts of messing around with Sylvia."
Sebastian was taken aback as he realized what Gary meant.
"All right then. I think I understand what you mean," Sebastian said, "But then, it's actually not easy for Sylvia to achieve her goal of getting the first place now. She will have to surpass the student that ranks second before coming after me."
"Are you sure she won't be able to surpass you?" Gary asked.
Sebastian nodded. "Not just me, but it's difficult for her to even rank second."
"Let's think of a way together then," Gary said, "I'll ask Ernest over and help her set up a revision program. We will even lend her our notes from the past."
He suddenly recalled the notes he made when he was still studying. Although they were a couple of years apart, his notes had all the important points jotted, and should still come in handy for Sylvia. Sebastian nodded. "Then, she will have a better chance at this."
"Let's make sure nothing will go wrong," Gary said in a deep voice.
Sebastian nodded. "With the contribution of Ernest's and your notes, I'm sure Sylvia will be do a better revision and will be able to score well. She's smart and is full of energy too. She just needs to work harder."
"Let's do it this way then." Gary laughed. "Look at us brothers all motivated in helping Sylvia to pursue Kendrix."
Sebastian smiled. "Will Mr. Trevino be mad about this if he replaces out?" "Who knows? Perhaps he would enjoy it," Gary said as he pondered upon it.
"True," Sebastian replied.
"All right, I should leave you to rest. Good night." Gary was about to leave after making the arrangements.
Sebastian saw him off.
Just like that, they made a plan together without Sylvia knowing. In a way, she was being schemed against.
Gary was about to return to his bedroom after all that.
He then ran into Heinz who was walking over in the corridor.
"What are you doing outside Sebastian's room at this hour?" Gary asked in a teasing manner.
"I was curious what you had to talk to him about," Heinz was honest.
They closed the distance between them and Gary was smiling at him. "Can't I have some boys' talk with my brother? I should care more about him as the eldest brother, shouldn't I?" "That may be the case, but you being so considerate all of a sudden makes me feel that something is not right." Heinz gave him a sharp gaze.
Gary shrugged. "I can only say that you are being too suspicious."
Heinz looked at Gary. "Why do I smell a scheme?"
"Do you?" Gary frowned. "Why don't I smell anything?"
"What did you talk to Sebastian about?" Heinz asked again.
"I just asked him to take care of Sylvia and to help with her studies," Gary said. "There's nothing wrong with that, is there?"
"She doesn't have to excel in her studies though. She's a girl." Heinz still felt that something was not right. He had to stay wary of it if she was doing it for Kendrix.
"Dad? Gary?"
The door opened.
Sebastian was looking at them with a smile and some confusion. "Is there anything else?"
Heinz let out an awkward laugh as he looked at Sebastian. "There's nothing. Sebastian, you should go and sleep now."
"All right then. You two shouldn't stay up too late either." Sebastian smiled. "I have to wake up early tomorrow. Good night." "Good night." Heinz smiled and quickly said to his son, "Sleep early."
Sebastian closed the door.
Heinz and Gary exchanged a look before walking away.
Heinz suddenly thought of something and said, "Gary, don't forget to change your last name. You can't have Smith as your last name anymore. We have to act on this soon."
Gary froze again as he turned around to look at Heinz.
Heinz smiled at him and left.
Gary felt depressed. He then headed upstairs quickly.
Celeste was already in the room when he got upstairs. She was waiting for him after taking her shower and changing into her pajamas.
Seeing his return, Celeste stood up and asked, "What were you talking about with Heinz for so long? It seems to me that you two are getting closer."
Gary laughed. "He is my father, after all. Of course, we are close."
"Yet, you refused to call him dad even after so many years," Celeste refuted, puzzled.
"I was annoyed at him, and since I've been refusing to do it for so many years, I figured I should just be persistent." Gary smiled. "Anyway, help me replace my notes."
"What notes?" Celeste asked.
"The notes I made when I was a high school senior. It should be lying somewhere on the bookshelves. I remembered highlighting the important points and tips," Gary said, "Help me look for it. I'll join you after taking a shower."
"Sure," Celeste said as she went to the bookshelves.
The bookshelves were mostly still full of Gary's high school studies, and the maids had not changed them out.
Celeste started rummaging through the tidily arranged bookshelves.
The maids had organized the books accordingly.
His study materials for year one and two in his senior school years were placed separately.
It didn't take long for Celeste to replace the notes he was talking about, and they were all the important ones.
She opened them and skimmed through the notes. They were all very well-organized.
Those were the notes of a top student.
Celeste sighed. It was no wonder he aced his exams when his notes were so organized. Smart people always would make sure that everything was prepared in a way that it was easier for them to study as well.
Celeste continued flipping through his notes.
The sound of running water could be heard from the bathroom as Gary was taking his shower.
Before she knew it, she had been reading the notes the whole time he was in the shower.
Gary walked out in his bathrobe. He saw Celeste's serious expression while flipping through his notes. She had a gentle look on her face, and it seemed like she had found the notes he was mentioning. He walked over to the bed and sat down. "Did you replace it?"
"Found it," Celeste nodded and said, "Are you planning to give them to Sylvia?"
"You're smart." Gary nodded. "They're for Sylvia indeed. She wants to rank first so that Kendrix will fulfil her a wish. There's no way I won't help her."
Celeste was startled. "What did Mr. Trevino mean by promising her that?"
"What else could he mean?" Gary smirked devilishly. "He's a teacher. He's obviously encouraging a student to excel in her studies as a teacher."
"The first place?" Celeste gave it a thought before saying, "It's not easy though. I feel like he's doing this on purpose to keep Sylvia busy so that she won't have the time to look for him."
Gary was startled. He glanced carefully at Celeste. "Why do you think so?"
"I don't know. I just have this feeling." Celeste smiled. "Actually, I'm not quite sure about it either. What do you think?"
"I believe he's setting a trap for Sylvia." Gary narrowed his eyes. "He's aiming for the future instead."
"Do you mean that he wants to be with Sylvia in the future?" Celeste asked.
Gary nodded. "That's right. I'm certain that he's doing this to have a future together with Sylvia. You should trust my intuition on this."
Celeste nodded. "Sure. I believe you have a point too. I'll trust you for now."
She handed him the notes. "The maids kept them very organized. It didn't take long for me to replace them. I think we should make several copies of your notes and keep the original copy." "Why several copies? Are you trying to keep them as a keepsake?" Gary joked.
Celeste nodded. "That's right. Do you allow me to do so?"
"It's up to you." Gary reached out his hand and hugged Celeste. "I'm just happy that you cherish my things this much."
