It seemed that the editor had called Leah anxiously because Ernest was out of reach!

A road sign up ahead stated that they were about three kilometers away from the closest rest stop.

Ernest sped up and drove to the rest stop.

The sudden acceleration made Leah grab the armrest of her seat. She looked at Ernest in surprise, only to see that his handsome face was tensed and anxious

Leah was still talking to the editor about not wanting to write the book.

The editor said anxiously. "Reaper, you have to understand me. I am your editor, so I'll have to be responsible for the book you wrote. I can't just ignore everything and leave the book without any updates. Furthermore, this book is very popular."

Leah stayed quiet. She understood what the editor meant. After all, no one was free to do what they wanted in life.

Everyone had some unavoidable circumstances they had to face.

Before Leah said anything, the editor continued,

"Reaper, how about this, I'll give you time to think about it. This book is just like your child, you must be reluctant to part with it, right? After you finish writing this book, you can rest and do whatever you want. I won't annoy you anymore after that."

Leah was silent for a while, her lips pressed together.

Victoria continued, "Think about it. If you don't write, it'll be a breach of contract. The Legal Department will look for you then."

After saying that, the editor hurriedly hung up the phone.

Leah put down the phone and sighed.

At that point, she noticed that Ernest had driven them to a rest stop.

She asked Ernest in surprise, "What are we doing here?"

"I need to go to the washroom." Ernest smiled. "We should also stretch our legs a little. It's not good to stay inactive for too long."

Leah nodded. "Oh, alright."

Ernest did not say anything else after that. The car stopped quickly.

Leah felt a little confused and asked, "You heard me on the phone just now, right? What do you think?"

Ernest kept his gaze fixed on the road. The toilet was not far ahead.

He asked, "Was it about your books?"

"That's right." Leah nodded. "Aren't you concerned for me?"

Ernest immediately shook his head and said, "Why wouldn't I be? I've always been very concerned about you."

"Well, you don't seem to be concerned with my work at all. What's on your mind?" Leah was suspicious because Ernest seemed a lot quieter than usual. Something did not make sense.

Ernest rubbed his nose then turned to Leah, "I am afraid that what I say will affect your decision."

"It won't. I just want you to give me an opinion. Do you think I should continue to write?"

"Selfishly, I certainly don't want you to continue writing. At least throughout your studies. You should focus on your major, not on your part-time job."

To be honest, Leah was very conflicted. In the beginning, she was very clear about why she didn't want to write anymore. But now... while she sometimes had the urge to write, she didn't have much time to do

SO.

She wanted to dedicate her time to her studies and Ernest.

"The website found a substitute writer earlier. To be honest, I think the plot line they developed is really impressive. However, the writer suddenly stopped updating. They're hoping that I would pick up where the other writer left off, but I'm really hesitant. Do you think I should say yes and continue writing?"

Ernest blinked a little before he said, "I would advise you to make your decision in a day or two. Perhaps the other person will resume writing once more. Since they didn't say anything, maybe something unexpected happened. I think your editor is being a little too impatient."

"You're right." Leah agreed as well. "It's only been three days, yet she's already determined that the other person will stop writing. It's a bit reckless and sloppy."

"So?" Ernest looked at her with raised eyebrows.

"That's why I think she's being a little odd." Leah spread out her hands. "I'll wait for a few more days. If the book isn't updated by then, I'll take over."

Ernest nodded. "Okay, I'm going to the washroom. Do you want to go?"

"I don't. You can go right ahead."

"Then go browse at the convenience store. I'll come in and buy you some snacks later," said

Ernest.

"No, it's fine. They won't taste good anyway." Leah immediately waved her hand. "I'm going to walk around. Give me a call after you're done."

"Okay."

After going to the washroom, Ernest took his phone and logged into his other Whatsapp account to contact Leah's editor.

He left a message that said, "Something came up. Please allow me to take five days off. I'll be back to work in two days. I'll try to submit more chapters then."

"Oh gosh! You've finally replied! Where did you go?" the editor replied almost instantly.

Ernest sent back, "I can't say much since it's a family matter. Just know that I'll be back in two days."

"Alright, that's a deal. By the way, you should post a notice about it on the message board. If you don't, the readers might get anxious."

"Okay, I'll post it immediately."

Soon, Ernest posted a notice on the message board in Reaper's name. He wrote that he had some family matters to attend to, so he would have to take five days off. He would post the chapters that were due in two days.

As soon as this message was posted, it received a bunch of traction. The message board was quickly flooded by hundreds of people.

Ernest logged out of that account and logged back into his own Whatsapp account.

After that, he walked out to replace that Leah was strolling around the area.

Ernest quickly walked over and took Leah's hand. When Leah got a whiff of his familiar scent, she turned to glance at him.

They looked at each other and smiled.

"Do you want to go get something warm to drink?" Ernest felt that her hand was a little cold.

Leah said, "Shall we get some coffee?"

"I think some hot milk would be better," said Ernest with a smile. "Too much coffee isn't good for the body."

Having said that, they bought two cups of hot milk and drank them together in the car.

They turned the heating on. Leah drank the milk slowly. She held the cup in her hand and the edges of her lips were stained with some milk.

After a few gulps, Ernest took a tissue and wiped his mouth. When he saw that Leah was still drinking, his eyes darkened at the sight of Leah's milk-stained lips.

Leah looked up at him. "How did you drink it so fast? It's so hot."

Ernest shrugged. "I thought it was alright."

Leah quickly finished her drink and put away the cup. "Pass me a tissue please."

As soon as she finished her words, Ernest moved closer to her and covered her lips with his mouth. He licked up the milk stains on her lips.

Leah took a deep breath. As soon as she opened her mouth to speak, Ernest took the opportunity to entangle her tongue with his.

Leah's phone rang, interrupting the loving couple.

She blushed and pushed him away.

Resentful, he slumped back into his seat. The call was badly-timed. It interrupted their kiss. Ernest still wasn't satisfied with the kiss.

"Hello?" Leah picked up the phone.

The editor's voice came through, "Reaper, the substitute writer just made contact with me. He said that he had some family matters to attend to and he'll be back to work in two days." "Oh?" Leah frowned in surprise. "What a coincidence."

"I know, right? Right after I called you, he contacted me!" the editor said.
