Leah was starting to feel suspicious about the entire situation. She frowned and asked in surprise, "How could there be such a coincidence? It's like they knew that you were asking me to write again." "I agree." The editor said, "It seems like they knew I would act anxiously."

Leah thought seriously.

Beside her, Ernest's body went stiff even though he looked calm.

He focused on driving and resolutely did not look at Leah.

When Leah turned her head to look at him, Ernest realized that she was looking at him. He immediately turned to look at her. When they locked gazes, he curled his lips into a faint smile and smiled warmly at her.

Leah also smiled back at him.

Leah said to the editor, "In that case, since the substitute has chosen to resume writing, then it's none of my business anymore, right?" "How could it not be your business?" The editor immediately chided. "This book is yours originally. The profit and copyright are yours too. Whose business do you think this is?"

Leah's lips twitched. "It's my business."

"That's right."

"Did he really agree to continue writing?" Leah was a little worried that the substitute would stop writing again. What if he suddenly changed his mind?

"Yes," the editor said, "I don't think he will lie to me. He doesn't seem like a liar. Something important must've come up. He posted a notice on the noticeboard. He got a lot of likes for it."

"That's not a surprise," Leah said in a low voice, "He's good at writing. After he took over, he didn't ruin my book. He even managed to make it better!"

"Of course! He's really talented, isn't he? And he doesn't even want any rewards. He's like a real-life superhero." The editor's rage had dissipated just like that. At the moment, she sounded light and relaxed. Leah agreed with her statement.

"By the way, Reaper, I'm telling you, you still need to pay close attention to this, alright? After all, this is your book. If there are any problems, you have to be responsible and modify them," The editor said, "You can't disregard it entirely."

Leah sighed helplessly. "After the contract expires, I'm definitely going to terminate my contract with you."

"Hey!" The editor smiled and said, "Let me tell you, wherever you publish your books, it's the same. You have to be equally responsible. I'm just following the rules. I've tried my best to help you out." "That's true," Leah said, "You're not entirely bad."

After all, the editor was only doing her job.

She thought for a moment and said, "Alright, let me know if you need anything else."

"Okay, no problem," The editor said, "I'll let you know if we encounter any more problems with the substitute."

After hanging up, Leah let out a long sigh of relief.

"The substitute suddenly contacted my editor and told her that he's preparing the updates," Leah said to Ernest.

"That's great!" Ernest smiled immediately. "That means you'll be able to focus on your studies. You won't have to worry about the book anymore."

"You're right." Leah nodded and looked at Ernest. Suddenly, a hint of amusement appeared in her eyes. "Ernest, don't you think it's strange?"

"What's strange?" asked Ernest with a calm face.

Leah studied Ernest's eyes. She could not replace anything particularly odd about his expression.

She could not help but suspect him.

For a moment, she almost suspected that Ernest was the one writing in her place without asking for any compensation. She thought that it was he who was given her all of the earnings. However, Ernest's calm look made her feel that her suspicion was probably wrong.

She shook her head and looked away. "It's nothing. I just suddenly thought that you might be the one writing my book."

Ernest was stunned at her deduction. He asked, "Why do you think so?"

Leah shrugged her shoulders. "Because the person writing for me doesn't want the money."

"You suspect it's me based on that?" Ernest laughed and looked at Leah's conflicted expression. "That must mean you trust me a lot."

"Yes, I do trust you. But I know it's not you." Leah smiled.

After a pause, he looked at Leah. He opened his mouth but didn't say anything in the end.

"If it was you, you would have no reason to hide it from me," Leah said, "When we were quarreling, you had some reasons you didn't want to explain to me. But after you came here, the two of us have been together all the time. Furthermore, the book had only stopped updating for 3 days. The substitute continued to upload the new chapters while you were here. You wouldn't have had any time to write them."

Leah felt that her deduction was reasonable. The two of them spent all day and night together. She didn't think that he would have the energy to get up in the middle of the night to write. She herself was constantly tired, so she supposed Ernest felt the same as well.

Hearing her analysis, Ernest kept quiet for a short moment before he smiled.

He stroked her chin gently and said to Leah, "Come on, it's time to go."

He was contemplating how to tell her that he did actually get up in the middle of the night to spend an hour or two to write.

He didn't have much time. He had read the book from beginning to end countless times beforehand. He knew each of the characters' personalities, backgrounds, and eventual fate. After his thorough research, he was able to completely nail the continuation of the story.

When he was still a student, he always got full marks on his essays and would always ace his exams. As such, even though writing a story was a bit difficult at first, he managed to get the hang of it really quickly. Eventually, it became a piece of cake.

He started the engine and started to pull away from the rest stop.

Leah fastened her seat belt and the car continued on its way.

Leah took out her mobile phone and scrolled through the message board. Eventually, she found the notice that said the story would be updated in two days.

The post had already gathered hundreds of likes.

Leah sighed. "Looks like this person who's helping me had some really important family matters to attend to. Otherwise, I don't think he would have stopped writing."

Ernest's hand on the steering wheel tightened at that. "Maybe. It's not a huge surprise."

"You think so?" Leah looked at him again.

Looking ahead, Ernest said, "Yes, it's normal, isn't it?"

"That's true." Leah nodded. "That's right, who doesn't have any issues at home every now and then, right?"

"You seem to be struggling over this." Ernest turned his head to glance at her. "What are you trying to wrap your head around?"

"I just feel that it's a bit unbelievable that this person did not ask for any sort of payment. What do you think is the reason? Do you think he might have some other intentions?" Leah looked at Ernest and voiced out her doubts.

Ernest nodded and said, "Yes, it seems like it."

"Does he intend to pursue me?" Leah's imagination ran wild. "But he doesn't even know me!"

The corner of Ernest's mouth twitched. He thought to himself that Leah's guess was definitely spot on.

"Maybe he's just a big fan of your work. He thinks your book is really good and thinks that it would be a pity if it was discontinued," said Ernest.

Leah turned to look at him and asked doubtfully, "You know he's a man, right? Aren't you jealous?"
