Leah glared at him.

Norval gave Leah a deep look before he turned to leave.

Leah looked at his departing figure, stunned. Norval was right about one thing.

Women needed to maintain their own independence instead of relying on men. However, what was his intention this time around?

Was he really trying to fix her relationship with her mother?

Leah felt that fixing things was impossible.

Leah sighed and forced a smile. Some problems could not be fixed.

Even if they patched things up, the damage was still there.

After Norval got onto the car, she watched as the window slid down. Her mother was watching her from the car with a complicated look. Sieara seemed to want to say something but stopped herself. Leah turned around, opened the door, and entered the building.

She did not look back.

However, she could feel that someone was staring at her from the car behind her.

Her back was ramrod straight as Leah walked up the stairs.

However, she felt her legs were as heavy as lead as she walked up the stairs.

When she returned to the apartment, it was quiet. She felt very lonely.

Ten minutes later, she went to the balcony and saw that the car was still downstairs.

She was astonished, to say the least.

She wanted to look away, but it was too late. Norval had gotten out of the car and he was waving to her.

At that moment, Leah felt very annoyed.

She didn't expect Norval to guess that she would look downstairs.

She turned away, picked up a book, and prepared to study.

Meanwhile, a message pinged on her phone.

She looked at the notification to see the message. It read, "I knew that you couldn't bear to leave

Auntie alone. Regretting your words?"

Leah knew that the message was from Norval right away.

Leah put down the phone before another message pinged.

Norval's message read, "This time, we're really leaving. Take care, Leelee."

Leah immediately tossed her phone on the sofa. It was disgusting that Norval called her that.

She didn't like being addressed so intimately by someone she viewed with hostility. It was repulsive!

Leah put the phone away and decided to focus on her studies.

Meanwhile, Ernest returned home and greeted Grace. They chatted for a while before he went upstairs to write.

The hours flew by as he typed quickly. He had a clear storyline in his head and his room was distraction- free. He managed to write 20,000 words in four hours. When he glanced at his watch, it was almost time for him to go downstairs.

Then, the phone rang.

Ernest picked it up. "Clinton?"

Clinton said, "Master Ernest, Norval had gone to meet Miss Winston. I have a few photos here. Would you like to see them?"

Ernest was startled and he felt uncomfortable. "All right, send them over."

After he hung up, Ernest received a lot of photos on WhatsApp.

It was of Leah speaking to both her mother and Norval.

However, there were photos of Leah and Norval hugging.

Ernest's eyes narrowed when he saw Leah's body being engulfed in Norval's embrace.

The next one was another photo of them hugging each other.

Ernest's blood boiled and fury rose in his chest.

Jealousy, anger, and frustration radiated off of him in waves.

He had been too careless.

He just wanted to finish writing the story so that Leah would have less work to do. It was hard for her to write stories for money while she studied. However, he forgot that Norval was still eyeing Leah like a tiger eyeing its prey.

Ernest did not believe that Leah had any feelings for Norval. If she did, they would have gotten together a long time ago.

From this angle, Ernest saw that Norval was hugging Leah tightly with his chin resting on her shoulders. Leah didn't seem like she was refusing him, though. Nevertheless, Ernest wasn't quick to jump to conclusions. He couldn't be sure whether Leah willingly allowed herself to be hugged or not.

He still felt that Leah would have rejected Norval.

Sure enough, he spotted Leah looking at Norval with an unpleasant expression on his face. However, Leah's expression after he turned away confused Ernest. She gazed at Norval's departing figure with a thoughtful look.

Why?

Ernest frowned at the thought.

What did Norval say to Leah?

Later, he saw pictures of Norval standing downstairs and waving at the balcony, clearly saying goodbye.

Was Leah standing on the balcony?

That was all the photos available. Ernest's brow was crinkled when he finished looking through them.

He put the phone away and rubbed his temples before he called Clinton. "Has Norval left?"

"Yes, Master Ernest. He left and is currently on the expressway with Miss Winston's mother, Sieara Larson."

"Okay, got it." Ernest quickly hung up and said nothing else.

Clinton put the phone away and looked at Heinz sitting opposite him.

Heinz asked, "Didn't Ernest ask anything else?"

"Nothing, he just asked if Norval was gone." Clinton shook his head.

"He didn't ask at all? Kids these days, you know?" Heinz raised his eyebrows and sighed.

Clinton was confused at Heinz's words. He smiled, not really knowing what else to say.

Ernest booked a restaurant in the afternoon and drove to pick Leah up. He planned to go to the movies with her after dinner.

Leah realized that her story had been updated. It was a long update too.

She was very surprised as she looked through the plot. She felt that the writing was very thrilling and the character development was also organic.

She couldn't help but sigh. "So talented. He's even better than me."

Ernest opened the door and asked, "Did you have a good rest? I've booked a restaurant, so shall we go and eat?" "Are we eating out?" Leah sounded a little surprised. "Weren't we just going to the movies?" "If we don't have a meal then the date is incomplete." Ernest walked inside to see that she wasn't wearing the same clothes as in the photos that showed Norval hugging her. His eyes gleamed mysteriously. Leah stood up and said, "Well, I'll go change. Wait for me."

She got changed quickly and the both of them left the building.

Ernest drove away from the apartment and asked, "Did you miss me? Must be very lonely staying in the apartment alone the whole day."

Leah shrugged. "I'm pissed off."

"Oh, what's wrong?" Ernest smiled.

"My mother and Norval came to see me. I'm really frustrated." Leah told Ernest what happened right away and didn't hide anything.

Ernest was shocked but very pleased with her frankness. "Don't think about it so much. Let's just enjoy our date."
