True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1960 The Four Children Of The Jones Family, Gary Smith (Part 735)
Startled, he stared at Leah and didn't say anything.
Leah then realized what she said was basically sowing discord between the brothers.
She said awkwardly, "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gossiped about your brother and Celeste."
Ernest reached out to rub her hair and said, "It's okay. Just keep in mind that we're in no place to judge how others maintain their relationships. What you said does make sense, but it'd be bad if your words somehow affected their relationship."
Leah nodded. He was much more rational than her. Leah felt somewhat embarrassed.
Ernest said again, "Words can make or break a relationship too."
Leah had no choice but to acquiesce, "You're right.
I was being too reckless."
"Just keep this in mind," Ernest reminded her again.
"I know." Leah nodded sincerely. Her expression was as earnest as could be.
Ernest smiled at her attitude.
His lips curled and he said, "Alright, let's go to sleep."
Leah shook her head. "I'm not sleepy. I'll sleep later. You go do your thing, I want to see if there are any new chapters added to my book."
Ernest was startled when he heard but remained silent.
Leah checked her phone then found it strange when Ernest didn't say anything.
She looked up at Ernest and asked, "Are you sleepy?"
"No," said Ernest, "I still have some work to attend to on my laptop."
Leah nodded as she glanced at her phone. She mumbled in confusion, "Why did he update so few chapters today? Don't tell me there's a delay again." Ernest was speechless again. He then took his laptop and sat on the sofa across from her.
He typed a lot on his laptop.
Leah was still browsing through books from other publishers when she eventually checked again on her book, she gasped, "It's been updated a minute ago!"
Ernest closed his laptop and put it on the sofa. He then said to Leah, "Come to bed as soon as you're done."
Leah muttered, "Alright. I'll just take a look at what he wrote."
Five minutes later, she finished reading and put her phone aside as she got into bed.
After walking out of the bathroom, Ernest asked, "Aren't you going to brush your teeth?"
"Of course." Leah got up and asked, "Ernest, is it true that men can't write much about love?"
Ernest was confused. He asked, "What's wrong? Did you not read anything about love in the new chapter?"
"Nope." Leah headed to the bathroom and started brushing her teeth. She then walked out and said to Ernest, "Although he didn't write anything about love, it was still an exciting chapter about brotherhood. He's done a better job than me overall, except for the lack of romantic content in his chapters."
Her voice was muffled but Ernest still heard her clearly.
He smiled and said, "Doesn't that make you two a perfect couple?"
Leah was dumbfounded. "I only want to be a perfect couple with you."
She sounded angry as she went back into the bathroom.
Ernest was surprised at her reaction and then he laughed helplessly.
He was wondering how he should tell Leah the truth about the book. Should he surprise her?
Or would she be frightened instead?
He really couldn't tell.
Leah's cheeks were still puffed upon returning to the bedroom. He was reluctant to see her acting like that.
Leah stood by the bed and said in a serious tone, "Ernest, I only want to be with you. Tell me, are you actually jealous or mad about this?"
"I..." Ernest wanted to explain.
"Don't interrupt me," Leah interrupted him and continued, "I was just expressing my admiration for someone who writes my chapters well. I'm also impressed by his talent. I might be curious to know what he looks like, but I know for a fact that I'm your girlfriend. I'd never think of being with someone else. Do you get me?"
"I do." Ernest nodded. He was happy to hear how much she cared for him that she actually made the effort to explain.
"No, you don't." Leah pouted, clearly still a little angry.
Ernest found her angry expression endearingly adorable.
He asked helplessly, "Why do you think that I don't get you?"
"Because you know nothing," Leah mumbled.
"I know for a fact that you stopped writing for this book because of me. It was my fault for upsetting you," said Ernest.
Leah was startled. She did give up on this book because of him. She didn't expect him to know.
Leah was in a terrible mood at that time. She couldn't bring herself to continue writing.
"I know how much I hurt you," Ernest continued saying, "And I regret it a lot."
Leah stared blankly at him.
Ernest then tugged her forward to sit on his lap before he said in a determined voice, "Anyway, you can't give this book a nasty ending. Otherwise, I'd be blamed for that."
"No." Leah shook her head. "I admit it was the aftermath of breaking up with you, but that only proved that I wasn't pouring in enough effort into my writing. You aren't responsible for anything." Leah looked into his eyes and said, "Stop saying that, okay? I have never blamed you." "Really?" Ernest asked again.
"I don't blame you," Leah repeated.
"Would you be hurt if you found out that I was hiding something from you?" Ernest suddenly asked.
Leah froze as her face turned pale.
Ernest immediately realized that she must have misunderstood his words again.
He corrected, "It's not about our relationship."
Leah seemed more relaxed upon hearing that. "I'm fine with anything as long as you're not breaking up with me."
"Of course I'm not," Ernest said, "I like you too much to break up with you."
"Alright then!" Leah nodded. "What is it that you're hiding from me?"
Ernest smiled. "I have something to tell you."
"Sure." Leah nodded. "I'm listening."
Ernest thought for a while. "Actually..."
Before he could say more, an incoming call interrupted them.
It was Leah's phone. "I think Maria is calling me." "Maria? My cousin?" asked Ernest.
"It's not like I know a lot of Maria's out there." Leah picked up the phone and saw that it was indeed from Maria.
She immediately answered the call, "Maria, you haven't called me for a few days. How are you doing? Are things okay with you and Liam?"
"We're fine." Maria chuckled. "Am I disturbing you? It should be midnight over there now."
"You're not," Leah replied.
"Alright then." Maria sounded relieved. "I thought I'd be disturbing your inspiration at this hour. I saw that there were new chapters uploaded and figured that you might still be awake. I called to tell you something."
"I was just getting ready for bed. What is it that you want to tell me?" Leah asked.
"Well, it's about your book. Someone is interested in buying the copyright," Maria said.
"Are you talking about the book that is still ongoing?" Leah was surprised.
"Yes. Someone told me today that he wants the copyright to this book," Maria said, "But I told him that I already owned the copyright. Although I've yet to get your acknowledgment, I'm sure you'd be willing to give it to me."
Leah paused for a moment, then laughed. "Of course I am. Even if others are interested, you are still my priority." "That's why you're my cousin-in-law. Anyway, how are things going with you and Ernest?" Maria asked.
Leah immediately looked at Ernest and looked a little embarrassed. "We're now together at the Jones family's mountain villa."
"Really?" Maria sounded excited. "Liam and I are planning for a vacation. I didn't know you guys are at the mountain villa. Care if we join?"
"I think it's fine. Gary and Celeste are with us too." Leah then asked Ernest, "Can Maria and Liam join us?"
Ernest had been listening to their conversation and nodded. "Sure, anytime."
"He said that you can come over anytime," Leah conveyed the message.
"We'll come over now then. So sorry to disturb you this late but I miss you guys so much already." Maria laughed.
"Sure, come over then," Leah said.
"Can you perhaps get us something to eat too? I'm hungry. Liam only has two off days, he will have to go back to the film crew after this," Maria said. "I'll have that arranged for you," Leah said.
