Meanwhile, downstairs, the guys talked about various topics. Time passed by quickly and the ladies were yet to return to them.

Remembering that he and Leah needed to do a check-up at the hospital the next morning to confirm whether she was pregnant or not, Ernest was running out of patience.

He frowned and looked down at his watch. It was already 2.30 a.m., yet the ladies were clearly not done with their gathering.

Gary noticed that Ernest had been looking at his watch impatiently several times, and he subtly gave Liam a look.

Liam was smart enough to catch Gary's intention as he gazed at him.

He smiled at Ernest. "What's the matter, Ernest? Do you have plans for tomorrow?"

Ernest was startled. He looked at Liam and smiled. "Yes, indeed. I'm bringing Leah to the hospital tomorrow early morning for a check-up." "Oh? What's wrong with Leah?" Liam was also surprised.

Ernest shook his head and said, "It's nothing serious. I just wanted to confirm something."

Upon hearing that, Gary raised his eyebrows slightly. "Are you checking if she's pregnant?"

Gary was always so sharp and straightforward with his questions. Under normal circumstances, he would just voice out what was on his mind.

Ernest shrugged. "She's just doing a routine checkup."

He didn't want to bring up the pregnancy yet, as he wasn't in the right place to do so. Leah was a girl after all.

He had to shield Leah from all the gossips and speculations others might make about them, as it was his responsibility as a man to protect the woman he loved.

"Go upstairs and end their gathering then. It's too late anyway. We should be sleeping." Gary yawned. "Or else we really won't be able to get up the next morning."

Ernest glanced at him and then at Liam. All of them were clearly agreeing on that suggestion.

Forget it. He had to be the bad guy then.

Ernest knew that was what Gary was planning.

However, he was not in a hurry either. He just looked up at the stairs instead of going upstairs. The ladies seemed to have gotten much closer after the heart-to-heart conversation that night.

As they chatted, Leah suddenly felt a little pain in her stomach. She covered her stomach with her hand. "Alas! Why does it hurt so much?" Leah mumbled. "Please excuse me. I have to use the washroom." She got out of bed and could feel something running down between her legs. She felt unwell in the belly.

It was a familiar feeling. That was the sign of menstruation, and it just came so suddenly.

"Are you all right?" Seeing that Leah was in pain, Celeste asked with concern.

"It's fine." Leah bent over and mumbled, "I think it's my period. I'll go back to my room first. You both can continue."

"Let's get you to the hospital if you don't feel well." Maria was shocked to see Leah suddenly bending over. She stood up and got hold of Leah.

"It's okay. I'm sure that it's just my period." Leah waved her hand with a smile, even though there was a pain expression on her face. "Don't worry." "I'll take you back to your room then." Maria helped her.

"There's no need for that." Leah waved her hand again and pushed Maria back to Celeste's side before walking out on her own.

She headed back to the guest room she shared with Ernest and went straight to the washroom and checked herself.

It was indeed her period.

Leah immediately breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed like she wasn't pregnant.

Amidst her relief, she suddenly felt a little melancholy too.

It was a good thing that she was not expecting, as it wasn't the right timing for them and it would be troublesome for them.

However, she inexplicably felt a little disappointed.

She then changed her clothes and put on a sanitary pad that she took out from her luggage. Fortunately, she had packed a pack of them before the trip, otherwise, she would be embarrasses she she would have to go downhill to get it in the middle of the night.

After getting everything done, Leah then returned to the other room and continued the conversation with Maria and Celeste.

"What happened? Is it still hurting?" Celeste asked with concern.

"It was hurting a lot just now, but I feel much better now." Leah laughed. "It's my period. It came too suddenly, so I was shocked. I almost suspected if I was pregnant."

"Was it late?" Maria asked.

"It's two days late," Leah replied.

"It's only two days, so it's not really late then." Maria laughed. "I was once late for a few days too and I also thought I was pregnant. Unexpectedly, my period came after that. Anyway, to be honest, I don't feel like having a baby this early."

After all, Maria and Liam had just gotten together for a short while. It would take at least a couple of years for their relationship to be stable.

Looking at it rationally, she didn't want to get pregnant at all then, especially given the fact that her mother was still expecting.

Leah nodded. She glanced at them and reminded, "I feel the same way too. Just be careful next time, otherwise we might really get it." Celeste also nodded. She was still a little upset thinking about her miscarriage back then, couldn't really let go of it.

Celeste's expression fell a little down as she sighed lightly. "You should really be careful and not get pregnant without any advanced planning. If you are pregnant, take really good care of yourself, and don't be like me last time. I'm still very upset about it even now."

"It was an accident, Celeste, don't be too upset," Maria comforted her immediately, "The doctor already explained it was because of your hormones. Even if it wasn't for the accident, your situation might also be risky. Perhaps it's God's plan. Don't dwell too much on it."

Celeste looked sorrowful as she looked down.

Leah and Maria could understand how she felt as they look at her face.

Maria continued saying, "I know it's normal to feel upset about this. Celeste, that's exactly why you should bounce back from this and take care of yourself."

Celeste gave them a shy smile as she looked up. "I'm fine. It's all in the past now. I'm just a little sad to think back about it, but I've adjusted my emotions. These are all fated, and I know there's nothing I can do to change the reality."

"Celeste." Maria reached out and pulled her into a hug. "Let's just be more careful next time and make sure nothing similar will happen to any of us again. Everything will be well!"

"That's right. Better things are waiting ahead for us." Leah comforted Celeste too after seeing how sad she was. As a woman, she somehow could relate to Celeste's feelings for having to lose her own child. As they chatted, there was a sudden knock on the door.

Maria immediately said, "Let me see who it is. We can't let the guys interfere with our ladies' night. Are we in this together?"

"Of course," Leah replied quickly.

Maria nodded cheerfully. She then looked at Celeste as Celeste didn't answer. She was determined to get an answer from her.

Celeste smiled and nodded too. "Sure, I'll fully cooperate."

Maria was then satisfied and opened the door.

She saw Ernest standing at the door with Gary and Liam behind him.

It turned out that all three of them had come.

She blinked her eyes and smiled. "Why are you all up here? It's our ladies' night and we still have a lot more to talk about. Please return to your rooms." Ernest ignored Maria and directly walked past her. He went to Leah and said, "Leah, let's get back to rest. We still have to go to the hospital tomorrow."

"We don't have to." Leah shook her head. "I've confirmed it myself. I'm fine."

Ernest frowned. "Are you sure?"

Leah nodded. "Yes, I am certain. Don't worry. It's nothing."

Ernest frowned and looked at Leah. Could it be that her period was there?

However, he was too embarrassed to ask her the question in front of Gary and Liam.

"We still have a lot to talk about, so we can't talk with you now. Please get back to your business." Maria then closed the door behind them as she finished speaking.

Their expressions darkened as they stood outside of the door.

Gary frowned and looked at Liam. "Look at your girlfriend. She's even snatching my girlfriend away from me."

Liam smiled wryly. "Please try to understand her. They've spent so much time together in London. They're practically sisters already. We wouldn't be able to understand how close they are." Ernest remained silent as if he was thinking about something.

"Ernest?" Gary looked at him again, raising his head. "What do you have to say about this?"
