True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 2134
Kendrix did not speak.
Sylvia was staring at Kendrix with her big and sparkly eyes, as if she was waiting for his reply as well.
Kendrix glanced at Claudia and said in a deep voice, "If you are not welcomed, then there is no need for you to be a guest for the next time."
"D*mn it!" Claudia could not help swearing. "Have you lost your mind?"
Kendrix showed her a scorning look, as if he was telling her out loud, "I am out of my mind, what are you going to do about it?"
Claudia rolled her eyes as she felt speechless and said, "Kendrix, don't tell anyone that I am your cousin, how embarrassing. How could I have a cousin like you?"
Claudia was furious as she was ready to storm off. "Screw this, I need to go out for a walk before I can continue eating. Otherwise, I think that I will waste all these good foods."
As she said that, she turned around and walked out.
Only Kendrix and Sylvia were left at the dining table.
The whole atmosphere fell into silence.
Of course, it would not stay silent for long.
Sylvia finally spoke. She asked directly, "Why did you mock Uncle Lowell just now?"
Her purpose of asking that was to replace out what was on his mind.
The most important reason was that she wanted to know his stance and attitude towards her.
However, Kendrix asked her in reply, "What do you think the reason is?"
No matter what, Sylvia thought that he shouldn't have done that.
How could he mock her uncle like that? It meant that he was not respecting her either.
If a man liked someone, he would definitely treat her family well too. However, Kendrix's attitude was obviously far from that.
His attitude made Sylvia feel hurt. It wasn't just because of the fact that he did not care about her, but it was also because he did not care about her family.
So, she wanted to ask him clearly regarding the meaning of what he did.
Only by understanding his attitude and stance could she understand his feelings. Having a crush on someone did not necessarily mean that she should just love him blindly. Sylvia looked at Kendrix stubbornly, she wanted to replace the answer in his eyes.
Unfortunately, he was too profound of keeping a subtle face. She was not a match for him at all.
She could not see through his emotions at all.
"I don't know." Sylvia's face darkened a little. "That is why I am asking you."
He placed his cutlery down and looked into her eyes faintly. His eyes were as deep as the sea, and no emotions could be seen in them at all.
"There's no reason at all," Kendrix only replied that. Sylvia frowned, "How could there not be any reasons? Do you think that you can be so impolite for no reason at all?" "Speaking of politeness, do you think you have any?" Kendrix asked her back.
Sylvia was suddenly stunned by that question.
She gawked at the man in front of her. His eyes were still as calm and deep as ever, and he showed no expressions on his chiseled face, as if it was normal for him to have asked that question. Perhaps even he himself did not realize how hurtful his words were, especially when he asked it in that tone.
Sylvia pursed her lips.
"As a girl, not only did you confess to your teacher so casually, you even asked your brothers to help you out when you did not get any response from me." Kendrix fixed his eyes on her. He could see her face breaking down bit by bit, it was even getting paler by the second. However, he still continued, "What? If I don't like you, are you going to take me by force?"
Sylvia froze once more.
"Do... do you really not like me?" Her voice was gradually trembling.
She suddenly felt that her throat was a little dry, it was even aching. She was down.
"I don't," Kendrix said coldly, "Miss Jones, know when to stop."
Sylvia's eyes narrowed.
Kendrix stood up. "Thank you for your hospitality. I should go now."
"What?" Sylvia was stunned once again.
She really did not know what had happened. Weren't they fine a little while ago? They had always been fine, why did he suddenly turn so cold? Even his attitude was firm. Kendrix lifted his feet and walked out, he did not want to stay there any longer. Yet, he hadn't even finished eating yet, how could he leave just like that?
Sylvia stood up as well, and she chased after him. "Kendrix, wait."
She only wanted to know the reason, she could not just let him walk away like that so easily without actually telling the truth.
Kendrix stopped in his tracks. He turned around and stared at Sylvia with cold eyes. There was no warmth in his gaze at all.
Upon being stared at by his cold eyes, Sylvia felt as if she was about to freeze.
She suddenly stopped in her tracks, she dared not take another step forward.
They were only five to six steps away, and Sylvia continued to look at Kendrix just like that.
"Miss Jones, is there anything else?" Kendrix asked in a cold voice.
As Sylvia listened to his cold tone, her heart was slowly breaking into pieces.
He had changed completely, his tone cold and distant. It seemed like he was angry then.
Sylvia was unsure of what went wrong. Could it be because Sebastian talked back to him? Or, was it because she had questioned him?
She was not sure. She only knew that Kendrix was really angry.
She smiled bitterly and clenched her fists. She said, "That's okay, Mr. Trevino. I understand what you mean. I disturbed you back then, I won't do it anymore in the future."
When Kendrix heard that, he was
stunned for a while before he quickly came back to his senses. He looked at Sylvia and said, "Well then, good thing you understand that. You are still a student, and you should continue to study hard."
"Of course I know," Sylvia said, "Thank you for reminding me, Mr. Trevino. Goodbye."
"Goodbye." After Kendrix said that, he turned around and was ready to leave.
His back was tall and straight, and he walked in big steps. In an instant, his figure disappeared as he walked out the door.
Sylvia was the only one left in the dining room. She was all alone.
The large dining room was empty, but there were still so many delicious dishes on the table. All the dishes there were almost untouched.
At that moment, Lowell walked down the stairs. To his surprise, only Sylvia was left in the hall.
He was shocked too, then he hurriedly went down. When he got close to Sylvia, he realized that her face was pale, the colors in her face drained. He asked worriedly, "Sylvia, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing." Sylvia shook her head with no expressions.
"Where are Kendrix and Claudia?" Lowell asked.
Sylvia did not speak. She walked to the table, sat down, and told Lowell, "Uncle Lowell, let's just enjoy our meal."
Lowell looked at the direction of the door doubtfully. At that moment, Claudia walked back in hurriedly from the outside.
She spoke as she walked, "Sylvia, what happened? Why did Kendrix leave so suddenly?"
She wanted to ask Kendrix why he left earlier, but he drove away without saying another word.
Throughout the entire process, his handsome face was terrifyingly gloomed.
Sylvia smiled bitterly at Claudia and said, "It's okay, if he wants to leave, let him. We should hurry up and eat fast, otherwise, the food will turn cold." When Claudia saw Sylvia's expression, she knew that something unpleasant must have happened, which was why she was going to let him leave as he wished. After sitting down, she looked at Lowell.
Lowell seemed puzzled too. It seemed like he was greatly astonished. Why did Kendrix leave so abruptly? He did not have even the basic manners.
"Mr. Jones, do you not know why Kendrix left either?" Claudia could only ask Lowell.
Lowell shook his head. "I am not sure."
Claudia felt extremely depressed too.
Sylvia hurriedly said, "Hurry up and eat, or the food will really turn cold."
After that, Sylvia did not say anything at all.
Their meal ended in discord.
After they finished their meal, Claudia did not stay in the Jones family's house any longer. She went back and bade farewell to Grace, then she packed her luggage and was ready to leave.
Sylvia sent her off, and the two of
them were being very honest with
each other. "Claudia, actually, you
can stay in my house. What happened with Kendrix is not
important, you are still my friend."
"I know," Claudia said. "I can tell that all of you are very warm and are very worthy of befriending. It is just that I need to check on why Kendrix is acting so strange."
When Kendrix was mentioned, Sylvia's face sank.
She was greatly hurt.
She did not want to think of him at all.
She really thought that things were changing for the better, but it had suddenly changed for the worse.
He was still the same cold person, he would not respond to any sort of enthusiasm, and she felt that all her efforts were just in vain.
That made Sylvia feel a great amount of pain and depression.
"Sylvia, don't be sad." Claudia comforted her, "I will help you replace out more about the situation."
Sylvia only pursed her lips, she did not say anything.
When Claudia saw how really sad she was, she asked, "Are you going to give up?"
Sylvia suddenly looked up at Claudia, then she shook her head firmly.
"I won't give up."
"However, Sylvia, you look so disheartened."
"I am a little disheartened." Sylvia smiled wryly. "He is like an iceberg, an iceberg that won't melt no matter what."
"That is a very accurate description,
that is how he is," Claudia said,
"Kendrix really doesn't know how to
please a girl. He won't even care
about how a girl feels. However, he
is not a bad guy."
"I know." Sylvia tried to comfort herself, "I am not saying that Mr. Trevino is a bad guy."
"There's some problems with his personality," Claudia said. "Actually, he is a person with a personality defect."
Sylvia smiled again, her heart was aching. "I can see that now."
"Wait here, I will help you ask." Claudia felt that if she did not settle accounts with Kendrix then, she would definitely explode in anger.
