Upon hearing it, Grace was stunned. It seemed that he had no knowledge that the child was his. Then how did he know?

Seeing that she didn't say anything,

Heinz knew that he was right, and he knew that Grace could not refute him.

He said in an even more sarcastic tone, "You planned this so that you'll be worry-free for the rest of your life. You are trying to take advantage of me."

"Taking advantage?" Grace muttered.

He had said this more than once.

Grace felt a little desolate.

"Yes, I'm obviously out of your league," Heinz felt so betrayed that he lost his senses and said rashly, "You risked your life to save me so that I'd accept you and your son.

I'd been wondering why would you put yourself in such danger. Ah, now I know. It's because you've placed such a big bet.

"And now you've successfully made me feel I owe you all my life. You're unbelievable, Grace," he said coldly.

"You wanted me to be a stepfather, don't you?"

Grace felt wronged by his accusations. "I'm not as vile as you said."

"Yes, you are," Heinz said. "You're just unscrupulous.

You thought that just because you've saved my life, I would owe you for the rest of my life.

Yes, I owe you, but I will never be your son's father.

Don't even think about it!"

Grace was shaking and almost couldn't stand still.

Feeling miserable, her mouth twisted into a bitter smile.

"How could you think of me this way? Fine, I was wrong for hiding it from you, but am I such a horrible person to you?"

As she spoke, tears started to well up in her eyes.

But it didn't roll down.

She was heartbroken that he had accused her of something that simply was not true.

The child was his. She gave birth to the child six years ago after the fateful night. Although it was a mistake, he was still his child.

Shouldn't he feel glad to be a father?

"Ha." Heinz sneered and said with anger, "That's right. You're indeed a horrible person."

"You've been scheming on me, so that your son can have a father. Have you ever thought about my feelings? Whether am I willing to do it or not?"

Grace bit her lips, her teeth sank deeply into her lips. She took a deep breath but words stuck in her throat.

"I'm willing to adopt a child, I'm willing to be a father to homeless kids, but there's no way you can deceive me into accepting your child as my own. Don't you ever dream of getting your way!" Heinz's said angrily with bloodshot eyes.

Listening to his harsh words, Grace was unexpectedly calm. She looked at him coldly without saying a word.

She was innocent and not scheming on anything. If he had admitted about the night, she would have been honest with him.

But he denied again and again.

It seemed that the incident six years ago was not even worthy enough for him to remember.

But for her, because of that night, she had a child.

For him, she was just a means to get his desire satisfied.

After that, he could pretend nothing happened.

Never mind.

That's how men always worked.

It was just her wishful thinking.

Her eyes were calmer, and she looked at Heinz steadfastly.

He was furious at her unwavering attitude. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

It was unimaginable that she could still be so daring.

"You are nothing but scheming!" he shouted angrily again.

Grace did not expect Heinz to say that she was a sly and unscrupulous woman.

In his eyes, she was someone who came up with a plan to deceive him into fathering her son.

Her heart shattered into pieces.

He had known her for some time to have a good understanding of her personality. He shouldn't have thought of her that way.

Grace had no intention of confessing to him anymore.

"Who told you?" she asked again coldly.

Heinz frowned and said, "Is it so important?"

"Of course it's important," Grace said. "I know you're not investigating me, which means someone must have told you. Whoever it was mustn't have a good intention."

"Fine." Heinz said in a deep voice, "Marry told me." "Marry." Grace was in a daze and felt her heart sink. Marry had always been playing tricks behind her back. But now, it seemed that she wasn't even trying to pretend anymore.

She must have told Heinz the existence of her child, but she probably didn't know that the child's father was Heinz.

She let out a light smile and said in a self-deprecating way, "You're right. I have a boy who is five years old and is very smart. And I gave birth to him unmarried."

That's who I am. Take it or leave it."

She pointed to the door and said, "I've been raising him alone for five years. I'm very much capable of continuing doing it without a man. You're out of my league. You can leave now, Mr. Jones."

"I'm not breaking up with you. It's up to you. You can think about it and let me know. I'll accept whatever decision you make."

Heinz let out a cold laugh, "Do you think it's still possible for us to be together?"

Grace pursed her lips and smile. Unsurprisingly, her smile was bitter.

"Fine," she said softly, "I get what you mean. I won't look for you again."

He frowned and felt uneasy. "Yes, don't ever look for me again. Let's end this," he said angrily.

Grace took a deep breath and felt that even breathing was painful.

It was as if she was stabbed through her heart.

She smiled gently.

"Okay. I got it. Please leave now." She pointed at the door. "Get out!"

Heinz took another glance at the pair of slippers and left without looking back.

"Bang-" The door was slammed shut..

Grace got on her knees next to the door. Hugging her knees, she wanted to cry, but she couldn't shed a tear.

Heinz rushed down the stairs furiously. He got in the car with a loud bang.

Lester was startled. Not knowing what had happened, he looked nervously at Heinz.

"From now on," Heinz said clearly. "Everything about Grace Smith has nothing to do with me. Get her out of my life!"
