True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 438
Only Heinz and Hermione remained in the room.
"Mr. Jones, why are you here so early?"
"I'm here to tell you that the case is going to go to court, but looking at the current circumstances, Lorenzo seems to have said something that he shouldn't have in the detention center." Heinz said.
"I didn't expect that either," Hermione said. "He's like this. Since he's already disabled, he might as well ruin everything."
"He wants to drag me into this matter," Heinz said with a faint smile.
"He doesn't know where he stands," sighed Hermione. "He is willing to go all out."
Heinz squinted his eyes slightly, and glanced at Hermione, "The prosecutors want to get something from Grace. They want to replace out what caused his disability."
"I have checked the law. Lorenzo's behavior is very nasty. He would be sentenced to imprisonment for at least three years. The maximum jail time is ten years." Heinz had no words.
In any case, Lorenzo would not be able to escape his punishment.
Grace was led into the meeting room.
The prosecutors started as soon as they sat down, "Since the two lawyers are here, let's start. Miss Smith, you can tell us the details of how it started and what happened the other day."
Before Grace could speak, Heinz's lawyer opened his mouth and said, "Mr. Simpson, Mr. Ross, Madam Young, I am Haward Grayson. This is my assistant Zoey Hill. We are in charge of all the matters concerning Miss Smith.
We have made a detailed record of the details at that time in front of the police. If you ask Miss Smith to recall such a terrifying memory again, it will only intensify her fear.
Ever since that incident, my client has never had a good sleep. You can also tell from her eye-bags that she's suffering from long-term insomnia."
Grace was dumbfounded, the lawyer was so eloquent.
It was indeed true that she didn't sleep well last night, but it was not because of that.
However, since the lawyer said so, she did not dare to speak. She could only lower her eyes and wait quietly.
The prosecutors also knew that Heinz's lawyer was also the lawyer of the Jones Estate and he had never lost a case, especially in economic disputes.
"Attorney Grayson, this is just a routine procedure."
"Mr. Simpson," smiled Attorney Grayson pleasantly. "Miss Smith is the victim and is traumatized by the incident. You asked these questions today, you will also ask them again when the case goes to court. May I ask how many times do you plan to ask her the same questions? How many times do you want her to recall these painful memories?"
All of them frowned.
"As far as I'm concerned, a routine procedure is just an excuse. Why don't we just be frank with each other?"
The leader of the group, Mr. Simpson said with a faint smile, "Miss Smith's interests need to be protected, the same goes to Lorenzo."
Attorney Grayson smiled gently and said, "We have never stopped you from protecting the interests of Lorenzo."
"Attorney Grayson, you are obstructing us from investigating the case," Mr. Simpson frowned, he seemed to be annoyed.
"I think Mr. Simpson is deliberately making things difficult for Miss Smith."
"Attorney Grayson, we now need to know what happened with Lorenzo's disability."
Attorney Grayson frowned.
"Miss Smith, you're the one involved. This question needs to be answered by you."
"How did the disability occur?" Grace pursed his lips, raised her eyes to look at Mr. Simpson calmly. Then said, "You have to ask the doctor then, I really don't know."
As soon as she finished her words, all of them were stunned.
Attorney Gao and Attorney Hill were shocked at first. Then, they smiled slightly.
"The doctor concluded that his body was beaten and crushed, resulting in severe injuries. That's why he ended up disabled," Mr. Simpson said. "Mr. Jones mentioned it just now, maybe he had kicked too hard in his panic. Miss Smith, we want to know how it went from you."
"Is Mr. Simpson trying to get anything from me?" Grace thought to herself while she looked at him carefully. Her large eyes were extremely clear. "I don't remember, I fought back as well. I didn't even have time to take care of myself that time. I can't answer your questions. I only remember that he wanted to harm me. I was almost hurt by him."
It was true that when she thought of that incident, she still felt fear lingering in her heart.
If Heinz hadn't arrived, she might have been dead already.
When she thought about it, she couldn't help but shudder.
Mr. Simpson was startled by her reply. When he looked at Grace, a sharp glint flashed through his eyes.
"It seems that Miss Smith doesn't want to cooperate."
"I am very cooperative," Grace bluntly said. "It's just that you don't believe it, so I can't do anything."
"Mr. Simpson, let's wait for the court sessions. Let's see how the court will decide."
Seeing that he couldn't ask anything, Mr. Simpson smiled faintly: "Okay, then see you in court."
"See you."
The prosecutors left quickly.
Grace sighed in her heart.
Heinz had already come to look for Grace. At the door of the conference room, he looked at Grace with concern, and Attorney Grayson came over. "President, Miss Smith's response was much better than I thought. She can definitely deal with it alone," Attorney Grayson praised Grace.
Heinz smiled and said in a low voice, "Of course, my woman is the best."
Attorney Grayson smiled and said, "Yes, she's the perfect match for you."
Heinz nodded and said, "You can go back now."
"Alright!"
The two lawyers left soon and closed the door.
Heinz looked at her and she raised her head to look at him.
He walked over, sat down at the conference table in front of her, and looked down at her.
"Are you afraid?"
Grace's body was a little stiff and nervous. Hearing this question, her heart became very warm.
She shook her head, "Nope."
"Lorenzo wants to accuse me of hurting him too much," Heinz said.
Grace was stunned and very worried. "Will it be bad for you if he behaves like this?"
"No," Heinz said. "Don't worry."
"Okay," Even though she was nodding her head, she was still a little worried.
"You go to work, I will go back to deal with it," Heinz said. "I will pick you up in the evening."
"Okay."
Soon, he left. She took a deep breath and went to look for Hermione.
"Editor, I'm going out for an interview."
"Grace, can you really do it?" Hermione was worried because Grace was acting as if nothing had happened. "You can have a week to deal with it, and then well talk about it."
"No," Grace shook her head. "I don't need to deal with it, and there's still some time before the case goes to court. We can't always wait as there are still jobs to be done on our side."
"Grace, well done," Hermione said. "In that case, go ahead then."
As soon as she left the editor's office, she received a call from Tyler Henley.
"Grace, I have made an appointment with Professor Ross for you. There will be three professors at the conference hall. They are going to participate in a literary salon today. Come on, I'll introduce you to them and conduct the interview with you."
"Okay, I'll bring my colleague Chuck with me."
"It's up to you," Tyler said casually.
