True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 458
Miss Holland was at a loss for words from what Gary said.
She was terrified to see that he was Mr. Jones' other son who had just been exposed. She dared not mess with these two children. They were very smart.
She smiled awkwardly and said, "I'm just telling the truth. Mr. Jones isn't even 30 yet. How can he be old?"
"Compared to me, he's very old," Little Gary said, "Isn't that right?"
Miss Holland could only smile helplessly. "Yes."
When Gary saw the expression on Miss Holland's face, he rolled his bright eyes and said, "Compared to you, he's also very old. Miss Holland, you are so young and beautiful."
Miss Holland was initially very stressed, but after hearing Gary's praise, she felt as if a weight had been lifted.
Everyone liked to be praised, especially for their looks.
Miss Holland immediately squatted down and looked at the child with a smile.
Gary laughed mischievously.
She hugged Gary and said, "You're such a sweet kid. You're really good at talking. Why are you being so sweet now? Did you eat some honey?"
"Miss Holland, that's because you've taught me well," Gary seemed to be sucking up to her. "I'm speaking the truth."
"Thank you." Miss Holland smiled as she looked at him, "You're a lovely little thing."
Holding Gary's hand, they continued walking forward.
Little Gary asked, "Teacher, can I not go?"
Miss Holland sighed. "I'm really not in charge of this matter. It's Mr. Maurice who asked you to go."
"Alright." Little Gary nodded. He frowned and said, "I shall go and meet this guest."
In the headmaster's office.
Old Master Carter was waiting, his eyes looking towards the door several times.
Mr. Maurice saw that he was anxious and immediately said, "Mr. Carter, don't worry. He's coming soon."
Old Master Carter didn't say anything in response.
As he spoke, someone arrived at the door.
Miss Holland held Gary's hand and walked in. "Mr. Maurice, I've brought Little Gary here."
"Alright, Miss Holland. Thank you for your hard work." Mr. Maurice stood up to welcome him.
Miss Holland brought Little Gary in.
Old Master Carter's gaze was fixed at the door, completely taken aback at what he saw in that moment.
They looked so alike.
This child looked so similar to Heinz when he was young.
After Little Gary entered the room, he scanned the entire room.
He saw Mr. Maurice standing at the door and greeted him with a smile.
Inside, an old man was sitting on the sofa, and on the other side stood another old man. They both seemed to be quite old.
One stood respectfully, while the other sat proudly.
Gary could tell at a glance who had the final say.
He walked inside.
He arrived in front of Old Master Carter in a few steps and looked at him with curiosity in his clear eyes.
However, he was not afraid at all.
He stared at the old man, which made the old man's heart tremble. Old Master Carter couldn't help but smile.
Gary remained silent.
Since it was Old Master Carter who was looking for him, there was no need for him to speak first.
Gary wanted to hear what he wanted to say.
However, Gary thought that this old man didn't look like his father at all. He wondered if this old man was really his father's grandfather?
It was really strange that his great-grandfather would be looking for him here.
Old Master Carter had seen countless people in his life. This was the third time that he saw a child who was not afraid of him.
The first time was when he'd first met Heinz when he was younger.
Heinz was not afraid of him at all, and even looked down on him.
Just like yesterday, his memories resurfaced in his mind.
This child had guts.
When he saw a stranger, he actually appeared to be calm and unhurried.
Both of them didn't say a word.
However, Gary seemed to be thinking, judging by the look in his eyes. He was completely calm and collected.
It was amazing.
Old Master Carter raised his eyebrows slightly as he observed this child carefully.
He compared Little Gary with Ernest.
In his life, the second person he'd seen who wasn't afraid of him was Ernest.
Ernest also looked a little like Heinz, but Heinz said that he was not his child, so he'd believed him. Heinz didn't have a reason to lie to him anyway.
Old Master Carter's gaze was fixed on Little Gary for a long time. Finally, he smiled. Just as he was about to speak, Little Gary interrupted him.
"Wait a moment," Gary said, stopping him from speaking.
Old Master Carter was stunned. The words that were about to come out of his mouth were stuck in his throat. He chuckled and said, "What are you waiting for?" "There's no need to wait for anything," Gary said indifferently.
Old Master Carter smiled again. "Then why did you tell me to wait just now?"
"I wanted to speak first," Little Gary said bluntly, "As long as I get to speak earlier than you."
Old Master Carter was stunned for a moment before he burst into laughter. "I thought if I didn't say something, neither would you."
Gary's eyes were still on the old man. He smiled and said, "If you remained silent, I will do the same. However, if you want to speak, I have to speak first.
The old man's eyes widened in surprise. He looked at the child in front of him and asked in astonishment, "You're just a little kid. Have you read The Art of War?"
"Of course, not only old people like you have read that book," Little Gary glanced at Old Master Carter from the corner of his eye.
Old Master Carter wasn't angry at all. On the contrary, he was even more interested in Gary.
He smiled, looked at Gary and said, "Child, do you know who I am?"
"Do I need to know who you are?" Gary asked indifferently. "I'm not interested in old people."
"Hahaha!" Old Master Carter suddenly burst into laughter.
He seemed to be in a very pleasant mood.
Mr. Maurice was a little confused as well. However, he was a little worried about this child. He was too daring.
"Mr. Carter-" Mr. Maurice opened his mouth worriedly.
"Butler, please leave with Mr. Maurice for a while. I want to have a word with my great-grandson alone!" Old Master Carter said.
This was something that he was looking forward to seeing.
Old Master Carter had been alone for too long. He had finally found a little treasure.
He was looking forward to his years of life coming to an end.
Both the butler and the headmaster went out.
The door closed behind them.
Only Old Master Carter and Gary were left in the room.
The old man still smiled very happily, and the wrinkles on his face increased.
Seeing how happy he was, Gary felt a little helpless and said, "Stop laughing, old man. You look like a raisin."
"A raisin?" The old man was stunned. "I'm not fond of raisins! They're so shrivelled up. Change your description of me!"
Little Gary thought for a moment and said, "Do you know velvet?"
"I know. It's very warm," Old Master Carter said.
"Your face looks like it's made of velvet. There are too many pleats," Little Gary looked at him and said, "I'm afraid that if you continue laughing like this, you'll get lots of wrinkles! I won't take any responsibility if that happens."
It was already hard for his mother to earn money. He wanted to help her save up as much as possible.
"Responsibility?" Old Master Carter laughed even more loudly. "You're thinking too far ahead, aren't you, child?"
"I can't help it," Gary said. "Even if I'm not thinking for my own sake, I have to think for my mother."
