Candace was not furious. She sneered on the phone and asked, "What retribution will I have? Is there anyone in this world who is more miserable than I am now? Can I be more miserable? I am your mother and I am the person who gave you life, anyway. However, not only do you disrespect me, you even curse me. Aren't you afraid of retribution?"

Her logic really made Grace speechless.

Grace's tone became more indifferent, and she retorted, "You should be grateful that you are the person who gave us life. Otherwise, do you think I would pick up your call and waste my breath on you?" "That's more than enough since I've given you life," Candace said in a low voice. "Without the beauty and wisdom that I've given you, could you have found a man like Heinz?"

Grace's gaze was full of despair. She really felt that her heart was also in pain.

Such a mother who thought that she was excellent in every aspect really made others speechless.

She held her phone and replied indifferently, "No matter what your real purpose is, I just want to tell you that it is impossible for you to borrow money from Heinz."

Candace scoffed, "I guess it's you who stopped him, right? Heinz is really a gossipy b*stard. He even tells you these kinds of trivial matters. What a man who has no mind of his own." She said with a disgusted tone, "He's really bringing bad luck. I think you'd better not be with him. He's not suitable for you."

"Your real purpose is to separate Heinz and I, isn't it?" Grace questioned coldly. "What is your motive for doing so? Are you happy to break us up?"

"Both of you are indeed not suitable for each other." Candace replied, "If you two are suitable for each other, nothing like what the news claimed would happen. It can be seen that both of you are not suitable for each other."

When the news was brought up again, Grace's heart was stung once again.

On the contrary, she was much calmer and argued unfeelingly, "Whether we are suitable for each other, it's our own business. It has nothing to do with you."

"Forget it. You won't listen to me," Candace said. "You'll be devastated once you break up in the future." "It's my business whether or not to be devastated," Grace retorted. She couldn't stand Candace hurting her like this, "You don't have to say much. No matter whether Lowell is your child or not, I have decided to raise him."

"But before that, I have to warn you that it is hard for people whom I raise to have feelings for you. You have already lost Alice and me. If you lose your last son again, you will be left alone in the future," Grace warned.

"I don't care," Candace replied, "I don't need that many so-called 'valuable relationships' in my life. Since you love to raise a child that much, you may raise him. Alice, whom you raised, is not bad too. Except for going out with a poor policeman, everything about her is pretty good."

"Candace, are you still human?" Grace criticized. Her heart ached even more. She always felt like she was tricking her to raise a child for her.

"How can you talk to me like that?" Candace reprimanded her, "If I'm not a human being, what are you since you are my child?"

Grace leaned back against the chair and looked at the ceiling. She felt that Candace was deliberately making her upset.

She didn't know everything about Candace now, but she seemed to know everything about her. That was why Candace was torturing her in this way.

Grace felt that if she was really affected by her, she would really be trapped. She could not let her be so satisfied.

She sneered, "I think you must be anxious now since you couldn't achieve your real purpose. Hence, you come looking for me again and again. You want to meet me, don't you?"

Candace, who was on the other end of the line, seemed to be in shock for a moment and didn't answer for a few seconds.

Grace knew it. She knew that her purpose would not be so simple.

She smirked a little and a touch of calm appeared in her gaze. "You want to infuriate me and force me to go out and meet you, don't you? Your purpose is not as simple as to just borrow money. All the methods you've used to infuriate me are to force me to meet you, right?"

Candace was no longer calm. She argued on the phone, "Who wants to meet you? Why should I meet you? Don't think so highly of yourself."

"I also hope that I'm just thinking highly of myself." Grace smiled a little and was no longer on the fence. "Whether it's right or wrong, I won't meet you. Don't call me again."

After that, she hung up the phone.

When Heinz saw Grace's face, his heart ached for her as well.

A mother should not have said something like that. However, Candace was such a person.

After hanging up the phone, the phone rang again.

It was still Candace.

Grace blocked her number directly.

"It seems that she's indeed forcing me to meet her." She looked at Heinz and said, "You don't have to bother her again in the future."

This phone call drained her energy, thus she sat down on the chair.

Seeing Grace's exhausted face, his heart ached for her a lot. "Alright, it's your call."

"Heinz, let's raise Lowell together," she said. "If Lowell really is her son, it would be much better for him to be by our side than by her side."

"Okay, no problem." He still responded to her with the same thing, "Everything is your call."

"The premise is that there's no problem with

Lowell," she said.

"That child is quick-witted and his eyes are very clear." Heinz said, "I don't think there is a big problem besides the fact that we don't know whether he's your brother or not." That night.

Jensen came to pick up Alice.

When he entered the house, he chatted with Heinz for a while.

"Heinz, I heard that Alice's mother gave birth to a child and they now have a half brother, is it true?" He asked.

Heinz nodded, "Apart from the fact that we haven't confirmed the identity of the child yet, there is indeed such a person. Did Alice tell you about it?"

"Yes." Jensen nodded and replied, "I'm here to pick her up, thus I simply want to confirm what I heard. I want to know about that child's situation."

"I'll give you the report later." Heinz said, "Check Lowell's residence registration for me too."

"No problem." Jensen nodded, "I'll check it out."

When Alice and Jensen went back, it was already ten o'clock at night. Unexpectedly, in the garage of Hart Villa District, a car blocked them as soon as they got out. Alice was very surprised and put herself on alert instantly.

Jensen placed his hand on the door and looked up to the car at the front.

When the door opened, a woman got out of the car. Looking carefully, it turned out to be Candace.

Jensen had just met her that morning, hence he certainly had a deep impression of her.

Meanwhile, Alice was a little startled to see Candance all of sudden since it had been many years since she last saw her.

The woman before her eyes was no longer the same mother as before. She looked much older. Although she still had her charm, she still couldn't resist the invasion of time.

Alice froze for a moment. She squinted and slammed the car door with a bang. Then, she said to Jensen on the other side, "Jensen, let's go."

She didn't want to talk to Candace.

Jensen looked at her and did not say anything either. He walked to Alice's side and both of them were ready to leave from the other side. "Stop," Candace said in a low voice. "Alice."
