Candace paused for a moment, then smiled lightly as she stated in an ironic manner, "This type of negotiation skill is the most common trick in business. Don't think that I don't know what you are thinking. You just want to pump me for information."

Heinz quirked his brows and said indifferently while watching how she became irritated, "You're so sensitive that you're provoked almost as soon as I touched on the confidential information. That's why I'm sure there' are a lot of secrets behind this."

She scowled at him and coldly denied, "I don't have any secrets. Don't simply label things that you do not know about."

"Since you said that there are a lot of tricks on the negotiating table, then I can also safely say that you are not telling the truth. There must be some secrets that we don't know, and somehow, they are affecting me and Grace."

Candace was a little impatient, and she said, "Forget it. I don't have any secrets. Why don't you believe me? Don't try to get any secrets from me. I have nothing to say. You can go!"

"You're asking me to leave so soon, but you know that I'm not someone who will give up so easily. Furthermore, Grace will not agree for me to leave just like that!" He said. He was resolute to discover the truth Candace saw his determination. He really decided to spend all his time eliciting the secret from her. It seemed that he would not give up until he reached his goal.

She started to feel uncomfortable. She felt like her whole body was aching.

She began to feel the excruciating pain in her stomach, which was becoming intolerable.

Heinz stared at her and frowned while sizing her up. He knew that she couldn't hold on any longer.

"Heinz, what exactly do you want?" She questioned as she seemed to reach a breaking point. It was obvious that she was running out of patience.

As she was getting more and more uncomfortable from the unbearable pain in her abdomen, beads of sweat broke out on her forehead. The discomfort made her breath quicken. Heinz smiled gently and didn't hurry to speak.

"Just say what you want to say. I don't want to beat around the bush anymore. I don't want to see you, so leave once and for all already."

She didn't want her uneasiness to be seen by others, especially her children. Hence, she was even more anxious.

"Well, I'll tell you my purpose. Let's be frank," said Heinz while his penetrating gaze fell on her face. He saw the sweat on her forehead, and he could see that she was feeling unwell.

It was normal for people with advanced cancer to feel uncomfortable. Candace must already be suffering so much from the disease.

"Firstly, I want to know who Grace's father is. Secondly, what relationship did you have with Aaron and Jodie? What role did you play in the news related to Grace? Were you a participant or a decision-maker?" "Thirdly, who is Lowell's father? Why did you have to entrust him to us? Why not him?"

"So far, I have only thought of these three major questions. If you can answer these questions, we will not bother you anymore. I know that you are feeling unwell at the moment. You don't want us to see you look like a drowned mouse, do you?"

There was sheer terror in Candace's eyes. Her hands were clutching tightly onto the sheets on the bed under the blanket and she was sweating even more profusely.

She looked at Heinz and said, "For the first question, I won't tell you the answer. For the second question, I can tell you that I didn't play any role in it. I didn't know what the news was about. I knew Aaron because he once saved the life of Lowell's father. As for me and Lowell's father, we were like confidants to each other and we had gone through difficulties together."

"I don't entrust Lowell to him because I know that he can't raise him well. I don't want Lowell's life to be unstable."

"As for his identity, I think you will know it one day, and it will not be a secret for too long."

"I won't tell you who he is. You can figure it out by yourself."

Heinz sneered and said, "You're not sincere. What you said is equivalent to having said nothing."

Candace's face was covered with sweat when she said, "I don't need to say anything else. If you still want to ask, I have nothing more to tell you. I have said what I should say."

He looked at her and knew that she was on the verge of a breakdown, "You owe Grace and Alice an apology."

She gritted her teeth and growled, "Yes, I regret it. I regret leaving the Smith family and them. I even regret giving birth to Lowell."

"But there was no way to restart my life, so I had to push forward. I had no other choice. I brought Lowell back with sheer hope that he could have a good future."

"As for why I intended to break Grace and you apart, it was because I really feel that you two were not suitable for each other. I was afraid that one day in the future, Grace would be in an awkward position and she would regret her decision, so I wanted to stop you two before you got married. But now it seems that you have made up your mind. Since that's the case, it's better if you two just live a good life."

"This is what I want to say. I wish you two all the best from the bottom of my heart. That is the truth."

Heinz sighed and said, "You should say these things to Grace."

"I won't say it. I won't admit it until I die. You also said that I'm just like my father. Since I'm very much like him, you should know what kind of person I am, thus I won't admit it."

Heinz took out his mobile phone and shook it while he said, "It doesn't matter. You can deny it, but I have already recorded it. When I'm free tonight, I will show it to Grace and let her know that you regret it." Candace was dumbfounded. She furrowed her brow and shouted loudly, "Get lost!"

She was very uncomfortable.

She wanted to retain her dignity, thus she tried hard not to yell in pain.

Heinz staggered for a moment before he turned around and left.

He opened the door, stood at the doorway and ordered Alex, "Go and call the doctor and nurse, tell them that she is feeling unwell again."

"Yes, sir!"

In the room, Candace was in so much pain that she started to groan on the bed.

When Grace, who was standing in the corridor, saw Heinz walking out of the ward, she went to him quickly.

As soon as she arrived at the door of the ward, she heard a painful moan from inside.

She was so worried about her mother that she pushed the door and was about to go in without a second thought.

Heinz grabbed her wrist and said, "Grace, don't go."

With bloodshot eyes, she looked at him with worry in her eyes and said, "I want to go in." "She is very uncomfortable. Let the doctor handle it. She doesn't want you to see her in pain like that," whispered Heinz.

Grace stood at the doorway and looked inside. She stopped and didn't know whether she should go in or leave.

Lowell and Alice were also perturbed. They stood by the door with a bunch of mixed emotions. Looking at Grace and Heinz, they were at a loss.
