True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 970
"Boss, what are you talking about?" Diego didn't know what to say.
"It was her choice to love Heinz's father. I respect her wishes."
"She ended up with a liar who cheated on her." William said disgustedly, "Let's not talk about her. It's a misfortune that your wife was ill and died young, but couldn't you have searched for a better wife?" Diego was very surprised. "Is there something wrong with Miranda?"
"Grandpa." Heinz spoke up."I think we should tell Uncle Diego. Don't keep him guessing."
"Yes, please tell me," Diego urged.
William then said, "Heinz, tell him what happened."
"Uncle Diego, here's the thing. Your wife is Marry's mother, who is my wife Grace's sister. Marry is currently in prison and waiting for her court hearing. However, last night, Miranda ordered her godson Xavier t kidnap Alice, another sister of Grace's. It was her attempt to negotiate terms to skirt the law."
After that, Heinz proceeded to tell the whole story to Diego.
Diego's brows knitted together as he listened, and he felt uneasy.
Truth be told, he was very astonished.
"Did Miranda really do that?"
"I have a recording here," Heinz said as he whipped out the recording pen.
Diego was stunned and said, "Play it for me."
There were only three people in the room, and there were no outsiders around. Thus, Diego didn't hesitate to instruct Heinz to play the contents.
After that, Heinz played the recording for Diego.
The contents were the conversation Heinz and Jensen had with Miranda back at the hotel.
When Miranda's voice came from the recorder, Diego was utterly shocked.
Heinz knew at that moment that Diego had never known this side of Miranda.
Perhaps, Diego didn't love Miranda at all and he married her because he needed a wife. Coincidentally, Miranda had served him for many years, so she was a suitable candidate.
The reason why Diego chose her might have been because she pretended to be nice in front of him, hence he didn't see through her disguise.
Thus, it was by pure chance that they got married.
As Diego listened to the recording, he grew even more upset by the second. Heinz was also more convinced that Diego had no idea about Miranda's true colors. Diego took a deep breath and listened to it patiently.
Even William was very surprised when he heard Miranda's arrogant tone.
A long time had passed when the recording finally ended.
The room was quiet, and no one spoke a word.
Diego was in deep thought after he heard the recording, frowning in silence.
Sometime later, Diego asked, "Is this a recording from this morning?"
"Yes, we met with Madam Scott before you came. I tried to make her give up the idea of messing with the law, but I obviously failed," Heinz answered.
"D*mn it." Diego gritted his teeth.
William said, "Heinz, serve him a cup of tea. He seems upset."
"Alright." Heinz immediately served Diego a cup of tea and handed it to him.
Diego took the cup and sipped at it. Panting in frustrations, he said, "I really didn't expect it to be like this."
Miranda had pretended to be someone she wasn't for so many years. Honestly, that was no small feat.
Furthermore, he didn't even notice it himself.
William glanced at Diego and saw him furiously hyperventilating. Then, William immediately comforted him and said, "Diego, she is not a good woman, so don't get all worked up. It's understandable for her to stand up for her daughter, but she didn't ask for your permission."
"I'll ask her to come here now." Diego pursed his lips.
Heinz was startled as he didn't expect Diego to be so impulsive.
William then told him, "Diego, it's not necessary for her to come. This is your business. You should deal with it at home."
William felt that it was necessary to protect Diego's dignity.
"Boss, I know what I'm doing." Diego said, "I'll call her right now and ask her to come over."
Diego then invited Miranda to the club.
Heinz said, "Uncle Diego, if Madam Scott takes the initiative to admit to her mistakes, we will not press the charges."
"If she doesn't, then it's my responsibility." Diego said, "Let me make the call."
He calmly picked up the phone and called Miranda.
The call was quickly connected.
"Mr. Quell." Miranda's gentle voice came from the other end of the line, and it felt like a soft breeze caressing one's face.
This was completely different from the tone of the voice in the recorder a while ago.
"When I arrived home earlier, they told me that you went out to meet your former boss. Have you met him yet?" Miranda asked softly, "Are you alright?" "Yes." Diego replied coldly, "Come here and meet my boss."
"Me?" Miranda was very surprised. "Why? I'm just a lowly woman. Why should I go?"
"Just do as I say," Diego replied solemnly, and his voice was very indifferent.
Hearing this, Miranda's heart skipped a beat. She immediately said, "Alright, I'll get ready right now. I'll be there soon."
"I'll have the driver pick you up." Diego hung up the phone after that and called the driver to inform him of the address. Then, he quickly hung up the phone.
When he looked at Heinz and William again, Diego's gaze was full of apology.
"I'm sorry. Before she comes, let me clarify some things," Diego said in a serious tone. "No one can interfere with the law, so don't worry. I'll handle this."
"Diego." William said, "I know what kind of person you are, and I also know how hard you've worked all these years. Now that you've retired, I don't want anything to destroy the foundation that you've built your entire life. I don't want your reputation to be ruined."
"Thank you." Diego nodded. "It was my family's negligence that led to this. I'm so ashamed of myself."
"Uncle Diego." Heinz said, "It has nothing to do with you. You didn't know that she had ulterior motives."
"It was an oversight," Diego replied. "This is my responsibility. I should have taken some preventive measures."
William said, "Don't blame yourself, Diego. It's not too late to fix things." "Okay." Diego nodded.
About ten minutes later, someone knocked on the door.
Diego looked at the door with a piercing gaze and uttered solemnly, "Come in!"
Then, the door was opened.
The driver stood at the door and spoke in a respectful tone when he saw Diego, "Mr. Quell, Mrs. Quell is here." "Send her in."
"Yes, sir."
The driver moved aside, and Miranda walked in. She had a smile plastered on her face, but as soon as she saw Heinz, she immediately turned pale.
