True Love
(Book 4) – Chapter 131

-There is not much to say, I live on this island for my work, my parents live in Santorini. This island is great and being here is like a peaceful dream with no problems.

-How do you visit your parents?

-I have a yacht, I can come and go whenever I want.

-That’s to be expected. I babble.

-Why are you here in Greece? It’s not tourist season yet.

-Is the season necessary?

-You always answer with another question! I laugh.

-They gave me the trip as a gift, I couldn’t refuse.

-I bet it was your parents, I could swear that one of them is Greek.

-Indeed my mother is. But it wasn’t them.

His smile faded in an instant. He kept thinking as if looking for something to say.

-Then it was some guy.

-The truth is, you’re not even close. Stop beating around the bush and ask what’s on your tongue.

-You’re determined. -Who gave you the trip?

-A good friend of mine.

-A friend, eh?

It was funny but scary at the same time and if he was a stalker maniac, or another rapist. The hairs on her body stood on end, she didn’t think about the consequences of being alone on a beach with a stranger. She stood up quickly while being watched by her partner.

-What’s going on, where are you going?

-I have to go.

He stood up watching her hurriedly gathering her things.

-Why are you leaving? Did I say something wrong?

-No, it’s just that I… I’m sorry Antoni I don’t know you at all, I don’t know if that’s your real name and I’m alone here with you and I don’t like it. I’m sorry. On the way back to the farmhouse.

-Wait, I don’t want to hurt you. He followed her.

-Don’t follow me, you make me nervous. She turned to look at him.

-But why don’t you give me a chance? I just want to get to know you, to be a friend to you.

-I didn’t come here to make friends. I didn’t come here to make friends,” she exclaimed.

She stopped in the middle of the road looking at a very nice car parked on the road, it was a rustic white Jeep. I thought there was no car on the island.

-If you want a ride home.

-Is it yours?

-Yes. He said with some guilt.

-Because I’m not surprised, I thought there were no cars here.

-And there are, that’s the only one on this island.

-Who are you? But when he was about to answer she interrupted him, “No, forget it, I don’t want to know.

She walked around the car going faster and faster.

-Andromeda, please wait, let me take you, don’t go like that. He followed her.

-Don’t follow me, I told you.

She ran away as if she were a little girl, getting lost in a maze of houses. Antoni watched her go, he wouldn’t follow her because it would be like stalking her, he didn’t want her to be afraid of him, he wanted to win her over. But he found her reaction very strange, so fascinating at first and then so fearful. Why? He went back to the beach and picked up his things and went to one of his businesses, he had business to attend to. It had been a surprise to replace her on the beach as if fate was conspiring, but after what had happened all desire for a good swim had vanished.

She arrived home, hot, scared and very confused. The first could be solved with a good bath. But the other two, she had no idea how to improve them. That man was a dilemma, she had gone through a trauma that she had not yet overcome, and she was not at all sure that she would be able to do it soon, and the way she ran away from the beach made it more than clear that fear was chasing her everywhere.

She had only seen him twice in her life and already she felt strange in his presence, when she looked at him or thought about him. He was so intimidating, terrifying and exciting, but since when did she ever think about that kind of thing? Not even with Fernando had she ever felt it, he had never produced a sensation like the one that Greek man made her feel. What could that mean?

Nothing…

That was what she should feel, she would take that bath and go out for a while on a bicycle. He had seen one in a small warehouse, he saw it in good condition so he would ride it around the island. He would forget Antoni and that would be it, he took his towel and got in the bath.

The view was incredible, the ride on the bike gave him inner peace, just what he needed. He was going up a very steep hill, the truth is that he didn’t have the necessary equipment for an excursion, only water, sun block and an old helmet. But his biggest mistake had been not putting on his trainers. Sighing at how difficult it was getting, he stopped to take a good look at the terrain.

-Damn it! She heard an engine very close and that put her on high alert, she vaguely remembered a certain comment “this is the only car on this island”. -Oh f**k! That’s him.

There was no hiding place, unless she jumped into the ravine with her bike, which was not the best option. He saw the car approaching and lucky for him it was him.

-So you decided to go up to the lookout point.

-And then you tell me that you are not following me.

-The truth is that this time I’m guilty. I want to talk to you.

-There’s nothing to talk about.

-Come on, get in the car, it’s easier to get to the top. The view is amazing at sunset.

He got out of the car and reached for her, she hesitated for a few minutes before she finally agreed. He took the bike and mounted it in a single movement to the Jeep. They both climbed in silence as he started the engine. Soon they reached the top of the island where the famous viewpoint was located as the Greek had told him. As soon as she got out she was totally impressed, the view was more than wonderful. Her eyes were shining like the stars as the evening was about to fall, and no matter what, she would not miss it.
