True Love -
(Book 4) – Chapter 142
-I don’t think this is a good time to talk, you’re nervous and you’ve been through something traumatic. I’ll come back tomorrow and we’ll talk. I’ll let you get some rest.
-Okay.
He got up from the front couch and walked over to her, kneeling at her feet and took her hands as he looked into her face.
-I swear I’m not engaged to Kalesa. Who I want that you and I want in my life. I am sincerely in love with you Andromeda and I love you. I have not deceived you. I’ll come tomorrow so we can talk better.
Her gaze showed sincerity and her words were spoken with love, but all of that could be false. She was confused, and the mere fact that he was proposing to her in that way melted her.
-All right. That’s what he said, and she saw relief in his eyes. He gave her a chaste k**s on the lips but she wanted more, hell she had to leave now.
She was very lonely in that house, and she sat there on the couch for a long time. She wanted to ask him to stay with her that night, but she knew it wasn’t a good idea, she wanted him and she wanted to make love to him. She didn’t trust him, she was tired of suffering. She went up to her room and gathered all her things, she had to leave, she couldn’t stay and listen to everything Antoni had to tell her. She didn’t know if it was a bunch of lies or a bunch of truths.
She was crying and her heart was torn as she packed her suitcase, how hard it was to have to do all that. She never imagined it would hurt to leave the island for those reasons. Damn Antoni. Early the next morning, she found a boat leaving for Athens just as she arrived. She looked from afar and saw Antoni’s yacht, it brought back memories. She shook her head and embarked on a long journey home.
Four months later…
-What the f**k are you going to do with your f*****g life? Peter said, picking up his clothes from the floor.
-I don’t know! It was Sunday and he didn’t want to get out of bed.
-Your room stinks, you know that.
-I do know that. He was on his stomach hugging his pillow.
-Come on, get out of that bed, will you?
Four months ago she had arrived from Greece and her family had received her with much love, cared for her and pampered her. But she felt defeated and didn’t want any of it, even though she was grateful from the bottom of her heart. Peter was always by her side at all times, she had found out that he broke up with his girlfriend because she was unfaithful so he was alone. And since then she made the decision to move in with Antoni, she had a very big and spacious flat for both of them, they work and were very good friends.
Her parents complained but in the end they supported her. With their help she managed to open a small café, where you could enjoy a tasty coffee and read a little. It was a great place. But on weekends she didn’t work, she needed to rest more now than ever. When she arrived in the United States a few weeks later she realised that she was expecting Antoni’s child, and that she was four months pregnant and her belly was showing a lot. When she found out she couldn’t believe it, it was so irresponsible.
Everyone was shocked by the news, especially Peter. He was angry that she had kept his affair in Greece from him. But there was no turning back, in the end he accepted it and was helping her as much as he could, even accompanying her to the consultations. Everyone thought he was the father, one afternoon he proposed to her but she wasn’t sure she wanted to accept and give him such a responsibility. She had gone into it alone, she couldn’t involve her best friend. Even though he kept insisting every day, she was getting attached to the baby and she didn’t blame him.
-I don’t want to do it, my baby is stopping me.
-Don’t bring my little boy into this. I would tell him.
He was very cute with her and the baby, he wanted to hold him for hours. Many times he even told her to talk to the child’s father. That he deserved to know the truth. But she didn’t want to ruin a marriage, if that was true. Antoni kept calling her. He searched for her on social networks, it was torture. Until a month ago he stopped and she knew it was over.
-Let me sleep.
-Get up, woman, you must feed my baby. That reminded her that she was hungry.
-Okay, just for that.
-And I want you to organize this room.
-You’re very sexy but bossy. I growl at him.
-And yet you like me. He raised his eyebrows at her.
-I never liked you.
-Liar.
Well, she did like him, when she met him she was drooling over her friend, it was incredible for her to have such a sexy friend and now she had to live with him, especially when he walks around the house in his boxer shorts. She argued with him about it, you couldn’t go around like that all the time. There were limits to what he could do.
-You’re imagining it all.
-I’ve always seen the way you looked at me, even now you do.
-I told you to stop walking around naked in the house. It’s not normal.
-It’s just us. He said seriously.
Oh f**k! What was going on? Why was he so changed with her. He just hoped his best friend wasn’t falling in love with her.
-Whatever! I’m going to get something to eat. Change of subject.
Once in the kitchen she was wolfing down an apple when Peter came in and poured himself some juice. He was a doctor, but he was off duty that day. And he stayed at home with her.
-You haven’t spoken to him?
-No!” He answered dryly, looking at his apple.
-When will you?
-I don’t know. Maybe never.
-He must know.
-Why? -It doesn’t make any difference if he knows.
-You’re sure?
-Why the interest? He didn’t answer. He looked at the window.
-I think he must know is all.
-Perhaps.
-Do you still love him?
What was that all about? Peter wasn’t like that, he was too interested in the baby, in her, in her situation.
-I don’t want to talk about it.
-Why not?
-It’s in the past, ok.
-It’s still in the present, and you’re carrying some of him here. I touch his half-bulging belly.
-It’s not that easy, Peter.
-Marry me, Andromeda.
She choked on a piece of apple she’d stuffed in her mouth just as he dropped that atomic bomb. Her lifelong best friend was proposing to her. She looked at his face more than surprised by his seriousness, she was looking for an apis of mockery or playfulness but nothing.
-What are you saying? She looked at him confused.
-I want you to marry me, help you raise the baby. Even if I’m not his biological father, I’ll love him as if he were my own.
-Why do you want to marry me? -You’re my best friend in life. You are my best friend in life.
-I like you, I won’t say I love you. But I like you a lot, and we could build something good until we love each other.
-Peter what are you saying, it’s me Andromeda your best friend.
-I’ve always liked you. But I didn’t like you.
Oh hell what was going on, it wasn’t believable. He moved a little closer to her and took her face with both hands, she was in a trance. He brought his lips to hers and kissed her. His best friend kissed her, a real k**s, not one of those fake ones he used to give her before. It was just a brush of lips, nothing deep. She couldn’t say the feeling was bad, it was warm and tender, but it wasn’t the same as when a certain person did it.
