True Love -
(Book 4) – Chapter 143
-Peter I…” she said as she broke away from him.
-Don’t say anything now. Just think about it, for the baby’s sake and yours. If you don’t want that man in your life, let me be in both of yours.
She gave him a k**s on the cheek and left, where would she go? He wasn’t working today. I was in a trance. The k**s, the declaration, the thoughts, Antoni, the baby. She would go crazy.
Through the corridors of her parents’ house Antoni walked, carrying in his hands a pile of documents that his sexy secretary had left him before leaving the office. If he had known that his father had such an attractive and efficient secretary in his office a long time ago, he would have asked her to move to Serifos to assist him.
But now it was too late for that, four months ago his father had a heart attack and the doctor forbade him to continue having the stress of work. For this reason Antoni, as the eldest and responsible son, had to take over the family business. Of course, he had not left his business aside, and once a week he travelled to Serifos to see how things were going.
Exactly four months had passed since Andromeda had left him, the next day he had gone to see her as promised, but the house was completely alone. He had to run to the port to get the terrible news that a ship had left for Athens very early in the morning and the young woman he had described had embarked on it. He called her immediately but her number did not connect.
She was gone, and he didn’t even know where to look for her in the United States. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack. He still didn’t understand why she had left, he had told her they would talk. He had come to think that she was immature and that he should forget about her. But it hadn’t worked out for him in those four months. That same day his mother called him to tell him about his father, and since then he has been living with them in Santorini.
It was hard, because she had left all her things at her parents’ house. Everything reminded him of her and he hated it. Because it made him feel bad. She left believing something about him that wasn’t true, she didn’t give him the benefit of the doubt. Despite occasionally going out with his secretary, she didn’t meet his expectations. He wanted her, his sweet, innocent girl. And the proof that he still loved her was that every time he had to travel to Serifos he passed by her house.
In his heart he hoped that she would return at some point, but he always found her alone. He often found it difficult to concentrate on his work. Wondering if she had met someone else, or worse, fallen in love with someone else. These were questions that tormented him daily.
-Son!
-Mother, come in.
-Is everything all right?
-Yes, I just have a lot of work to do.
-I’m sorry that now you have double the work. But as you know your brothers were not ready to take on this responsibility.
-I know, don’t worry. -I know, don’t worry.
-You miss the girl, don’t you? -You miss the girl, don’t you?
-Why should I lie to you.
-But if she left, it’s because she doesn’t love you son.
-I don’t want to talk about it.
-You’re hurting yourself too much son. You have to put the past behind you.
Maybe his mother is right about that, but he was trying and he couldn’t get her out of his head, even the few times he had s*x with the secretary he couldn’t stop thinking about her. It even made the poor girl sick on more than one occasion.
-I’ll deal with all this.
-All right. -Tomorrow you’ll go to the island?
-Yes.
-Very well, I hope you have a good trip. He gave her a smile and left.
The next day, the first thing he did when he anchored his yacht was to start his car and drive to the house where Andromeda had been. He always did that, it was routine. Every time he set foot on Serifos he felt anxious to pass by the house. He even felt empty when he noticed that she was always alone. But that morning everything had been different, because when he stopped nearby he saw movement inside her.
His heart was pounding, it felt like a moving train. He got out of the car, and ran to the house, he looked like a madman. But he didn’t care. The door was locked, but inside he could hear a lot of commotion. He knocked with his nerves playing havoc with him. An older woman with glasses opened the door strangely.
-Hello, can I help you?
-Hello, well I don’t know. My name is Antoni Lanister, ma’am.
-Oh! You’re a Lanister, the owner of almost every hotel on the island.
-Yes. At least the lady knew him by name.
-What can I do for you?
-I’m looking for a person who lived in this house four months ago, well, for a holiday.
-Oh! you must be talking about the pretty Andromeda.
Hearing her name from the woman’s lips gave him hope, at least that she was in that group of people. The woman knew her, surely they were related. He was impatient for her answer.
-Yes, she is. Is she here?
-Oh no, honey, she’s not here. She’s in the United States. Do they know each other?
Disappointment washed over him, he felt sorry for himself for being such an idiot.
-Yes, we are good friends. I’d like to see her again, I thought she was here. I lost communication with her.
-I understand. Well, wait here.
The woman went inside and waited in the entrance, I was nervous. Was Andromeda in that house or not. I felt like screaming her name. But he had to control himself. The lady finally came out with a piece of paper in her hands.
-This is her new address. I don’t have her phone number, but that’s all I can do for you.
-Thank you very much, madam.
-Call me Anna. The lady watched the man leave happily and smiled.
-You shouldn’t have given him her address. Her husband says next to her.
-He has to know.
-You’re not sure about that Anna.
-Of course I am Jimie.
Antoni was happy in his car, he had Andromeda’s address. And he wouldn’t waste any time. He would see her as soon as possible. If she told him to his face that she didn’t want to be with him, he would understand and close that cycle forever. He left everything in order in Serifos and Santorini. And in the evening he left on his yacht to Athens, from there he would take his private plane to the United States, hopefully in the morning he could see her again.
-Where were you all night Peter? Andromeda asked her best friend in the morning.
-I stayed at my parents’ house.
-Oh! I don’t like you going off like that, leaving me alone.
-It’s all right. I just went to make sure everything was in order, they went on a trip two days ago.
-Oh yes! And where did they go?
But before he could answer, a light knock on the door caught the young men’s attention. They looked at each other’s faces as if searching for an answer, perhaps one of them was waiting for someone.
-I’ll go. Said Andromeda.
