True Love
(Book 4) – Chapter 144

She could have sworn her child would be born before her time when she saw the person standing in front of her. Everything in her turned upside down, even her baby was jumping, hopping, kicking. Her heart was pounding, b***d was being pumped so intensely through her body that she couldn’t breathe, let alone her ears. They were boiling.

-Antoni! he said softly.

-I found you, at last my love.

Oh shit! What was going on? It all had to be a f*****g delusion, a bad trick of his head, if that’s what it was. Because it was more than impossible for Antoni to pinpoint her whereabouts so exactly. At least that, it was very possible. It was more than possible that that was what had happened.

-But his words were silenced by his gaze settling on her bulging belly. – Are you pregnant? The sadness crept onto his face, and the happiness from before was gone.

-Antoni I…

-Who is it? Peter shouted behind her, he was getting closer. And she was trembling.

-I see you’re not alone, and I’ve come at a bad time. Rather, too late.

-What? she asked dejectedly.

Peter stopped beside her, looking at Antoni strangely yet defiantly.

-What can I do for you?

-He is my friend from Greece. She said at last without looking away from Antoni, who, after hearing the word friend, felt his heart break into pieces.

-Sorry to bother you, but I must go. He said at last.

-All right! says Peter confused.

Was she crazy? She was going to let him go without telling him the truth, she must have thought she was pregnant by Peter. What a mess. Antoni turned around and went down the stairs. She was still in shock.

-Will you let him go?

-I don’t… I don’t know.

-I think she’s buying into something else. -How did she get here?

-Where did your parents go on holiday? -Where did they go?

-To Grec… I see. -My mum!

-I figured it out.

-You should clear this matter up, Andromeda. Said his friend with a thread of sadness.

-Peter, I couldn’t agree to marry you, you’re my best friend. And I wouldn’t want to lose you for the world. You’re like the brother I never had, I couldn’t love you the way a woman loves a man.

-You couldn’t love me the way you love him. You’re a clever girl, I understand you. But if he fails you, remember I’ll be there for you, okay?

-That’s why I adore you.

-Anyway, I think you’re too crazy and disgusting to be my wife. -You’re too crazy and disgusting to be my wife.

-Hey! -I’m pushing him for the comment.

-Go after him.

She bolted for the lift, hoping to replace him still downstairs. They were on the sixth floor. She couldn’t run down the stairs. Finally, after all this time, she reached the ground floor. She looked around and didn’t see him, a weight was pressing on her heart and tears threatened to ravage what little self-control she had left. If she left before they spoke, what would she do? But after so much searching, she finally found it. And she ran with her four months of pregnancy towards him.

-ANTHONY! She shouted at him, he was about to get into a car and stopped when he heard her.

-What are you doing? Have you noticed how you’re dressed?

The truth is that she hadn’t even noticed that, she was wearing a pair of cotton shorts and a matching tank top. No bra or panties.

-I didn’t notice. She said apologetically. – You left so fast, I didn’t think.

-I think it was too much up there.

-Of course not. -You’re wrong. You’re wrong.

-Ah no? He pointed to his belly.

-It’s yours! He blurted out, he’d had it stuck in his throat for four months.

-What?

-It’s your baby. I got pregnant when we were together, when I came back a few weeks later I realized I was pregnant. I’m sorry, I was so afraid to call you. Your engagement, I…

-I told you I’m not with anyone, I just want to be with you, and now with my baby. I caress his chest softly. -It’s mine, my baby. I’m going to be a father. He said with a smile.

-I’m four months old, I don’t know what s*x it is yet.

-It doesn’t matter, I just want him to come healthy. We must go back to Greece. Come with me my love.

-But my parents?

-They can come and see us whenever they want, just like us. -You can come and see us. By the way, who’s that guy upstairs?

-That’s Peter, my best friend.

-I understand. -You live together?

-Nothing happened. -Nothing happened. We’re friends, believe me.

I trusted her, but not him. There was something strange in her eyes as if she hated him. But he was her friend, she couldn’t hold a grudge against her loved ones. And from what she had told him about him a long time ago, they were very close. She just had to get to know the boy better. He wouldn’t worry about that now, he just wanted to celebrate the joy of being with the woman he loved, and who would be the mother of his child.

-Andromeda, will you marry me?

Everything was going smoothly and she was more than happy and satisfied with how things were going between her, Antoni and her family. After the disastrous meeting between her and her beloved Greek, they finally cleared up their problems, she decided to take him at his word and finally told him that her parents had to meet him before they left for Greece. The wedding was to be held there, so her whole family would have to travel to accompany her on that special day.

Fortunately, Antoni had pleased her family and it was fortunate for her that everything had gone well, better than she had expected. The next day their flight was leaving for Athens and from there they would stay in Santorini as Antoni had told her all about what had happened with her father. He liked the idea of living in this magnificent temple, but at the same time not so much. He did not want to meet a despicable being.

The Greek promised him peace, no stress of any kind. And when they arrived, the preparations for the wedding would begin. She was anxious but nervous, she didn’t know if their marriage would work out but she would do her part. On the other hand, telling Peter of her plans was devastating, he was noticeably saddened, but wished her good luck with their relationship. And that if he misbehaved, the Greek would smash his face in. He would certainly keep an eye on the baby.

-Are you all right? Antoni asked, lying next to her on the bed in the luxurious hotel where he was staying.

-Nervous.

-It’s normal. You know, I’m excited that we’re going to be parents.

-I am too. I hope we’ll be good at it.

-We’ll do our best.

-I have to make new appointments with a doctor in Greece, who will take care of my check-up.

-I’ve already taken care of that. We’ll go for a consultation when we get there.

-That sounds perfect to me.

After a long chat, where they both talked about what they did in their time apart. In the end they fell asleep, all of Andromeda’s things were at the hotel so they would be leaving from there as she had said goodbye to her relatives, hoping to see them again on the day of the wedding.

Arriving back in Greece brought back many memories that made her nostalgic, the last time she had been there was when she had had a misunderstanding with Antoni and had run away like a child. She was ashamed of her behaviour, from now on she had to be more mature. Face the problems, no matter how hard they might be. She knew that Antoni was much older than her, and her years of experience she could not surpass. But she would learn to be mature.

-Home at last. Said the Greek, brimming with happiness.

-Are your parents aware of everything?

-Of course, I called them and told them everything, they’re more than happy because they’re going to be grandparents.

-I’m glad to hear it. My mum is excited about organising the wedding, will you let her? I don’t want you to get tired.

-She can do whatever she likes, it’s fine with me. Besides, I don’t know the Greek tradition.

-Don’t worry, it won’t be so Greek. It will have a lot of American style.

She smiled at him, he knew she wanted something in his style and he was indulging her. Even if he didn’t get too involved in it, he’d keep an eye on things.
