Twisting Her Fate
Chapter 61

The day of the ball has arrived and the sun is starting to set in the sky. The faint orange glow as the day turns into evening.

The temperature is still warm as Connor and Harvey stand side by side. Both fitted in immaculate suits. Connor's is a gray three-piece suit that matches his eyes perfectly.

His wrist twists once more as he looks at the white gold watch on his wrist. He is starting to get slightly nervous.

"Are you sure she's coming?"

Even through all his nerves, Connor has never for one moment believed that Leilani would stand him up. She made a promise that she would follow through. He has trust that she will follow through.

His eyes flash momentarily as a large power crosses the border. "They are here"

Connor says with a little more relief in his voice than he was intending, Harvey throws Connor a sly smile but stops when he sees his alpha so genuinely happy, staring off into the distance. Looking at the faint outline of the big black SUV travelling their way at a fast speed.

Connor arranges himself, brushing all the imaginary dirt off his suit, adjusting his silver tie and running a hand once more through the hair that he will never bother to put in wax because it still sits the same whether he has product or not.

The car pulls up in front of Connor and he wipes his sweaty palms on the pants of his suit, trying to stop himself from rushing forward to open the door.

A wide grin cannot be concealed on his face as he stares at the black tint on the window of the car as it swings open quickly, out steps a silver stiletto heel at the end of a beautiful pale slender leg.

Connor, once again, is astounded by the beauty of every part of her body as he looks up and sees the beautiful girl step out in front of him. Her silvery shimmery dress falling gracefully around her. Without Connor even asking, she gives a little spin and once again, Connor is speechless. The dress is high at the front but most of her beautiful back is exposed, the silver colour and the exposed back reminding him so much of that first night they met. Her beauty astounds him just as much now as it did then. She looks glorious. She steps to him, adjusting his silver tie as he looks down at her.

"Are you a mind reader or something? Look at us with our cute little couple outfits, it would almost appear that we planned this"

They didn't have time to plan it at all, it didn't even cross Leilani's mind to tell him what color she was wearing, as silver matches everything. Connor looks at her with a smile on his lips and awe shining in his eyes. "Maybe we are just that in tune with each other"

"Maybe"

Connor kisses her plump lips that are covered in a luxurious deep red lipstick. Her white blonde hair is braided around her head like a crown and sits neatly over one shoulder. Leilani gives Connor a once over. "And I don't think I've told you yet, but you look exceedingly handsome, even more so than usual"

Leilani runs a hand down Connor's stubbled jaw, feeling the roughness under her palm, smiling slightly, Connor really brings a new definition to the word handsome. She then glances over at Harvey. "You also look incredibly handsome Harvey"

Harvey smiles as he looks at the stunning girl in front of him that has a sweet mouth and a genuine personality. "Thanks Lu..."

With a slip of the tongue, he almost calls Leilani Luna already. He has already accepted the fact, with all his objections to it all. It isn't because he doesn't like Leilani. It isn't because she isn't good enough. Isn't beautiful enough. Isn't strong enough or isn't caring enough. The complete opposite in fact.

She is a sweet girl who is a complete kick-a*s fighter. It is not because she is not suitable for the role, because she absolutely is. It is her other commitments and whether Connor can live a life with her coming and going like that. If she gave up her other life and was could concentrate on the stormy pack full time, Harvey would be the first one to throw a celebration to welcome the new luna in because there would be no better luna than Leilani.

But all of that doesn't mean that he hasn't accepted her as the luna already. Connor has made his intentions quite clear. The pack has survived for so long without a luna. So to have a part-time luna is still a step up and Harvey knows that a part-time Leilani will still be better than a full-time Maggie. "Thanks Lani"

Harvey corrects himself. Leilani doesn't notice the blunder, but Connor does. He smiles slightly, excited for the day that Lani can be called Luna freely. Harvey moves forward and opens the door of the car they are travelling in. Connor quickly greets her brothers before they get in the car.

Leilani and Connor in the back and Harvey in the passenger seat. The car takes off, they are running with perfect timing and should arrive near the start. Leilani grips Connor's hands tightly.

"I am so sorry I am late"

"Babe, I knew that I was waiting for all this beauty, beauty this perfect can't be rushed"

Leilani laughs as she presses her lips against his cheek, then rubs off the lipstick mark with her thumb.

"If only you knew"

Leilani grins, her two rows of straight white teeth showing. She got dressed in the car, did her hair in the car, even her makeup was done while on the road. The group lives such busy lives that it is not like they have not done the same thing a million times before. It won't be the first and it definitely won't be the last.

Leilani was running completely on time and was planning on getting to the stormy pack to maybe get some pre-game action but it didn't work out as intended. Alpha Baxter came to her again and asked if she could speak to his luna. Baxter had forgotten about the ball and told her not to worry, but she couldn't leave the sad man hanging, especially when they weren't planning on returning to the somerset pack without something. His forlorn face breaks her heart every time.

After talking to the luna for a couple of hours, coaxing her to eat some food. Listening to stories of Rosalie and a young Connor, hearing stories of Connor with his parents and the hardship that Connor went through to be able to run the pack by himself at such a young age in the midst of grieving for his family.

All of it helping the luna a lot. Talking to someone else, a stranger, yet family, someone that hasn't heard it all before, helping that with Leilani's angelic looks, it is easy to feel safe and reassured. Leilani got her to eat a substantial amount of food and they were still running reasonably on time.

It wasn't until they were set to race out the door that the man, the same man that was the last contact of all the missing girls, contacted her.

Which then set off another round on the computer by Hudson and trying to work out the right reply that didn't sound desperate, trying to ease into a round of talking, hinting at more without scaring him off.

Even though they want to rush and get it done, get answers for the families and take down the man, if they push too hard too fast it will send him running.

Of course, all of Hudson's hacking came up with nothing once again and the single reply was not responded to and then, after all that, they ended up insanely late.

So, instead of getting to spend a bit of time with Connor after all the missing and getting a chance to relax for a little bit.

Instead, he is dressed well, she is dressed well and they're shoved in a car together with other people. It is absolutely not the right circumstances for doing any other things that she would like to be doing.

A small hand run up Connor's lapel with a sly smile gracing her lips. Connor just watches her, he cannot take his eyes off her, she is always so beautiful. His voice is nearly a whisper, it is so soft.

"What are you thinking?"

Leilani grips his chin, tilting his head to the front of the car. Her lips touching his ear and with a feather light kiss and a graze of the teeth.

"I was thinking about how much fun I am going to have removing that suit later on"

Connor's hands run down Leilani's bare back, causing her whole body to come out in goosebumps. She sighs heavily in pleasure. "Maybe we should just cancel this whole thing and head back to bed"

"Naughty...... I like it"

"But unfortunately, as much as that sounds appealing, I'm also excited to show you off"

Leilani nuzzles his neck, taking in that amazing scent once more. She doesn't take offense to his words but decides to tease him.

"Show me off? Am I some sort of trophy to you?"

"Babe you are the ultimate trophy. To have you by my side tonight makes me so happy, I have no idea what's going to go down with those other two..."

Connor doesn't even refer to the other two as the fated now. To him, they're an annoyance that needs to be removed. Hopefully, after tonight, it is going to be an obstacle no longer and they can put this sordid part of their lives behind them and move on to bigger and better things. "For me, tonight is all about having you there with me"

Leilani cups his cheeks and nibbles his bottom lip. They have lost sight of the original goal, but it hardly seems important. For now, the others don't matter, it is only Connor that matters.

"Sometimes I'm worried that you are a little too perfect"

Connor can only laugh. The rest of the car ride is spent in a haze of kissing. Thankfully, Leilani brought some makeup removing wipes to clean Connor up before they pull up at the venue. She fixes her own lipstick before looking out the window at the lavish venue with a lot of high-profile and powerful wolves congregating around. There are a lot of beautiful women and handsome men. There is a lot of money displayed.

But Leilani doesn't feel nervous at all. Even more so, as her door opens and a large strong hand extends toward her, she places her own slender pale hand in his as he helps her out of the car.

There is something incredibly calming about being next to a man like Connor. She feels safe with him, she feels protected with him, even that first night when they were strangers. She felt the same, the feeling only increasing over time.

Lani hooks arms with Connor and they walk in together. Even in the midst of all these good-looking people, their looks still take the spotlight, they outshine everyone else. Connor has been the talk of the town after moving up so many spots in the space of three years and now having this unparalleled beauty on his arm just makes the chatter even louder.

They walk in together with perfectly matching confident steps. Suddenly the focus of everyone's admiring gaze.
