Since they managed to trap the ghost, their team-up was over.

Now, it was time to chase their own goals.

There was just one box, and Michael wasn't about to let Ethan have it.

"Michael, what's your deal? You think I'm gonna keep it for myself?" Ethan raised an eyebrow, eyeing Michael. "I'll hold onto it for now. I'll hit up the club, spread the word. Buyers will come to us soon. We'll do the deal together, split the cash, and share the info. I won't let you take a hit."

Michael replied, "If that's the case, why not leave it with me? You replace the buyers before coming to me. I'll bring the box. You think I'm gonna bail?"

"So, no room for negotiation?" Ethan said.

He didn't expect this young detective to be so sharp, talking business right after dealing with the ghost.

"If you can't make me feel secure, then there's no point in continuing this," Michael said seriously. "You don't trust me, just like I don't trust you." "Remember, I was the one who caught the ghost," Ethan snapped.

"And I saved you, twice," Michael said calmly.

Ethan was fuming, "You dare say you saved me? You used me as bait to lure the ghost out. You couldn't even tell which corpse was the ghost. Otherwise, you could've let me into the Ghost Realm instantly instead of making me back off slowly." "Do you know you almost got me killed?" he added.

Michael stared at him, "Because you had to be the bait. Otherwise, we would've failed. I was thinking of the bigger picture. Why else are you standing here arguing with me? With my Ghost Realm, I could save you in a second. I was confident you wouldn't die. But can you guarantee I wouldn't die?"

"What if I insist on taking this box today?" Ethan said coldly.

No way was he leaving this hard-earned item with Michael.

"Are you sure the box in your hand is real?" Michael's eyes narrowed, "Do you understand the Ghost Realm?"

Ethan looked at the item in his hand, shocked.

He was instantly startled. The golden box in his hand had somehow turned into a rotten human head.

Ethan instinctively threw the head away.

"When did you switch it?" Ethan asked, both shocked and angry.

Michael said, "In the Ghost Realm, only what I think is real is real. Otherwise, everything you see could be fake. So, what's real to you? What you see? What you touch? Or what you smell? When everything is fake, you'll replace that the world is fake. Interesting ability, isn't it?"

"Impossible. Your Ghost Realm is also the power of a ghost. It can't affect gold. This is a fact known to Ghost Handlers worldwide," Ethan said through gritted teeth.

Michael said, "I can't affect gold, but can't I affect your eyes? Do you think what you just threw away was really a human head?"

Ethan, feeling scared, quickly picked up the head he had thrown away.

"Can you be sure the head you just picked up is the same one you threw away?" Michael said again, with a slight smile on his lips, "After the job is done, you don't trust me and I can't trust you. The box can't be split in half. Although your contribution is significant, mine is not insignificant either."

"I was the one who first discovered the ghost's pattern and found the ghost." As Michael finished speaking, a golden box appeared in his hand.

It was the same box Ethan had used to detain the headless ghost.

If Michael had the box, then what Ethan had was indeed a real human head.

"Damn it," Ethan cursed inwardly.

He quickly threw away the head he had just picked up.

Now, Ethan was totally lost, unable to tell what was real and what was fake in this Ghost Realm. He also felt a weird sense of relief, kinda glad Michael wasn't an actual ghost. Otherwise, how could this ghost be contained? "Alright, I admit it, I'm not your match. You call the shots this time. What do you want? You don't plan to take it all for yourself, do you?" Ethan said.

If Michael decided to take everything, there wasn't much Ethan could do.

Michael replied, "Even though we had some issues with splitting the loot, I still have principles. If a person has no bottom line, what's the difference between a person and a ghost? So, our previous deal stands, but I'll keep the box. You replace the buyers, but I handle the transaction. Sound good?"

"Do I have any bargaining power left?" Ethan said, "Let's do it your way."

Just being able to keep working together was a relief. If Michael were more ruthless, Ethan would've walked away with nothing.

"Great, call me when it's time for the deal. Don't call me otherwise, I'm super busy. Also, good teamwork."

Michael pulled out a pen, scribbled a phone number on a piece of paper, and placed it on the ground. After that, the red light around them vanished.

Michael was gone too.

Had he left the Ghost Realm?

Ethan looked around and saw the human head on the ground.

It wasn't a human head at all, just a pack of instant noodles, his least favorite plain flavor.

"This damn Ghost Realm." Ethan clenched his fist, feeling utterly powerless.

Both were Ghost Handlers, so why was Michael so lucky to get such a terrifying ability? It wasn't fair.

If Michael knew what Ethan was thinking, he'd replace it laughable.

He'd rather not have this "luck."

In that high school paranormal incident, he didn't know how many people died. He only knew that he barely survived with six other classmates.

If he hadn't become a Ghost Handler and received the warning from the human skin paper, they would have all died, no survivors. Could Ethan have survived?

Michael didn't leave the mall right away. Instead, he headed to the surveillance room to replace Jane, who was still waiting there. She was the only survivor in this mall.

Dozens of people had died here, but there were always one or two lucky ones.

"Jane, are you still alive? There's no sound on the phone." Michael appeared out of thin air in the surveillance room.

His Ghost Realm time was still active.

At this moment, Jane was holding a phone that had been disconnected due to unpaid bills, curled up in a corner, sobbing quietly. She had already felt desperate.

Because after Michael and Ethan entered the clothing store, they hadn't come out. She thought they had both died inside.

The Ghost Realm couldn't be captured by the surveillance cameras.

Jane was in a state of collapse. If Michael was dead, what would she do? The ghost was still out there and she would surely die if she went out.

But as Michael's voice sounded, her sobbing stopped and she quickly looked up.

Seeing Michael appear in front of her, she immediately stood up excitedly and rushed over, "I thought you were dead. It's so good that you're okay."

What was supposed to be a warm embrace ended with Jane passing right through Michael and falling to the ground, her nose bleeding when she looked up. "Why are you so excited? I thought you were going to attack me," Michael said, puzzled.

"Are you a human or a ghost?" Jane looked up at Michael in horror.

She was sure she had just passed right through him.

Indeed, directly through.

"I don't want to explain what you won't understand. Your task is done. It's time to go." Michael grabbed her wrist.

The two of them disappeared from the spot instantly.
