Under the Heiress' Facade -
Chapter 526
Chapter 526
The atmosphere in the car died down due to the silence. Even Tiramisu could sense that something was not right. Laying in the back seat, its eyes kept alternating between the two people.
After a while, Bernard broke the silence. "Mind explaining?"
"Explain what?" Hera questioned back.
"Why did you go to his place and make him food? You didn't even push him away when he pushed you onto the table!" he coldly mentioned.
She scoffed. "Why should I explain? Mr. Killian, have you forgotten that we broke up? What right do you have to demand an explanation from me?'
That question left Bernard speechless. He regretted his decision to agree to break up. He shouldn't have done that.
"But that's not what you said when you were drunk that night." He softened his tone, slightly dragging the end of the sentence to earn some pity.
Sometimes, Hera wished he would not let his talent go to waste. He should go be an actor someday. How could he change his attitude that quickly? One second was all he needed to immerse himself in any character. Not even the best actor could beat him out!
However, she became embarrassed when she recalled that night. Samantha had told her what she did during her drunkard state. "I was drunk!"
"People always say the truth when they're drunk," Bernard rebutted.
Pouting her lips, she turned her head to the window instead of continuing the argument.
Right then, his other phone rang. It was used for work purposes. He slowed down the speed and put on his wireless earphones to answer the call
"Mr. Killian, we found the sniper. It's someone from a mercenary group called Grim Reapers. Unfortunately, he took the poison and committed suicide when we caught him."
Bernard slightly frowned at the familiar name. Astral Nova had collaborated with them a lot of times before. The Grim Reapers always kept their clients' information confidential. Their M.O. was way crueler than Astral Nova.
"Also, Ms. Youngworth found out about me," said the man from the other end of the line. Glancing at Hera, Bernard finally understood why she was giving him the cold shoulder.
It seemed like Tyler, that crazy man, had told her something, affecting her judgment.
"Got it." Bernard terminated the call and drove the car to the highway road.
Hera's heart raced as she noticed that this wasn't the way back to Jedburgh. "Where are we going?"
"I'm taking you somewhere," he responded.
An hour later, the car drove into Celestial Gardens. Bernard drove into the basement parking lot of Ursa Major
Hera got out of the car with Tiramisu in her arms. Her eyes scanned the area, which was full of limited-edition luxury cars.
She recalled the black Audi, which he frequently used, and Skyview Heights, which he provided her. She realized that she actually didn't know much about him. All she knew about him was the side he wanted to show her
Noticing that she was looking at the cars, he misunderstood that she liked them. "Get a driving license. You can drive any of the ones that you like."
She withdrew her gaze, saying indifferently, "Did you bring me here to count how many luxury cars you have?
"There's more."
Bernard led her to the living room and took the tablet from the table. He showed her a document.
It was detailed background information about Tyler. It also included a list of his dates and the records of which hotel they had been to.
