Hera gave it a quick skim. "Why are you showing me this?"

"To show you what kind of person your mentor is," Bernard answered.

She pursed her lips. Based on that statement, Hera knew that Bernard was already aware that Tyler was S.

"My family is working with the Presgrave family. Tyler recommended you to Rhett. That's why Rhett invited you to join the team to develop a chip," he added.

She gave him a dubious look because she never told him that Rhett looked for her before.

Bernard, who understood her questioning look, explained, "I only found out about it after I asked someone to look into Tyler. Besides, it's a huge project of Killian Corporation. I've read the documents."

She remained silent, and he continued seriously, "Sweetie, I know that you still don't fully trust me, but you have to. I'll never hurt you."

She stared at him, her head flashing the image of the man she saw at the park, the red dot, and Tyler's message.

She couldn't figure it out. Could she trust Bernard?

In the end, she couldn't help but ask, "Did you ask someone you follow me?"

He saw that coming and corrected her, "I did that to protect you."

Then, he made a call. "Come to Astral Nova."

Twenty minutes later, a man in black sportswear showed up. He was wearing a cap and a mask. It was the man Hera saw back at the park!

"Mr. Killian, Ms. Youngworth." The man removed his mask and cap. It was a bald man with a scar on his face.

"This is Sable. After the terrorist attack at Greesia Lakeside, I suspected that someone was after your life, so I hired him to protect you," Bernard explained further.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Hera couldn't understand.

"I don't want to worry or scare you."

Unlike her quiet and calm appearance, her heart skipped a beat at his remarks.

"Ms. Youngworth, this is the latest information about the sniper. He's dead, unfortunately." Sable passed her a document

Inside was the investigation report,

photos of the sniper's ambush,

bullet analysis, and other details starting from the day Queenie died. The details validated that the sniper behind the three attacks was the same person from the Grim Reapers.

However, there was no information pertaining to the client.

Expressionlessly, Hera pored over the report, Ever since she initiated an investigation to replace out Daphne's murderer, someone had been getting in her way from behind the scenes.

When she discovered that Bernard had been hiding his true identity from her, she even suspected it to be him, hence the anger.

Now that she thought about it with a clear head, Tyler had been messing with her.

Bernard motioned for Sable to leave

before saying, "I don't know whatz Tyler told you, but you mustn't only trust him and him only. Even if I've committed a sin, it's not a grave sin, isn't it?"

Hera took a deep breath and slowly breathed out. She teased, "You seem anxious to clear your name. Why? Are you feeling guilty?"

"It's because you don't trust me that much. I'm afraid you won't trust me anymore in the future." He held her hand. "Come with me. I have something else to show you."

She felt the warmth from his palm. His palms no longer felt cold after he recovered from his illness. His hands even felt warmer than hers during the winter.

He couldn't hide his smile as she didn't fling his hand off. Holding her hand, he opened a door.
