If Hera wasn't around anymore, would Bernard treat Everly slightly better?

Hera had picked up on Everly's odd expression. As she recalled Everly's previous intentions toward Bernard, her gaze darkened. "Go and finish your work."

Everly came to her senses and answered, "Alright."

Bernard ignored Everly as he held Hera's hand and walked toward the eastern wing.

The wall featuring the periodic table had been partitioned into a small office that was approximately 161 square feet. The office had a desk and a small couch with a blanket that had not been put away.

Hera scowled slightly while looking at the couch, which did not seem large enough for Bernard. "Have you slept here before?"

"Sometimes, I work until it's very late, so I'd sleep here," Bernard explained.

Hera suddenly felt a pang of sympathy. "Did you really have to do that?"

"I wanted to be closer to you. Otherwise, you might run off with some other man, and I wouldn't be able to catch up."

Bernard hugged Hera from behind and rested his chin on her shoulder. He inhaled her faint scent, thinking that he was happy whenever he was around her.

"You're such a smooth talker." Hera gently patted Bernard's cheeks.

"Only for you." Bernard took her hand and laced their fingers together.

"Oh right, have you investigated what I told you about?" Hera recalled the photos.

Hesitation flashed through Bernard's eyes. "Not yet."

Hera frowned. "Is it that complicated?"

"Yes," Bernard answered before changing the subject. "Sweetie, I'll invest in your development of new chips, okay?"

"How will you do that?"

"You can stop working for Rhett and join me at XS Corporation. Or you could start your own company. As long as you want to develop your own chips, I'll come up with the money," Bernard explained.

"No! I don't want to spend your money," Hera objected. She joined Killian Corporation to infiltrate their internalwork, not because she actually wanted to develop chips for them.

Bernard scowled slightly. "Whose money are you going to use if not mine?"

"Mine."

"But I want to start a company with you as a married couple."

Bernard knew Hera had more than a billion dollars in her account, which was enough for her to spend for lifetime. But if she planned on developing new chips, a few billion dollars were definitely insufficient.

Hera raised an eyebrow. "When did I ever say that I'd marry you?"

"Who else would you marry if not me?" Bernard stood in front of Hera and held her shoulders, saying solemnly "Let me make this clear to you. I will not play these kinds of

torturing games by breaking up with to

you ever again. If you ask break

up again, I'll lock you up and tie you to the bed."

Breaking up one time was enough for a lifetime.

Hera was slightly stunned, and her heart began to race. "Oh, are you threatening your landlady?"

Bernard did not flinch. "As long as we don't break up, you can be my landlady and boss. I'll listen to anything you say."

Hera smiled, feeling delighted. "Such a smooth talker. Quickly prepare some steak for me. I'm starving."

"Yes, boss."

Everly returned to the northern wing and began to gather the ingredients based on the formula given by Isla
