Chapter 44
"Take it. This is also your living expense. As a husband, the money I earn is for you and the kids," Logan insisted, stuffing the few hundred- dollar bills into Lorraine's hand.
"I just got paid yesterday, and this money is meant for living expenses anyway. You're the head of our household, so you manage the money.
Lorraine wanted to say something, but when he gave her a stern look, she decided not to argue and accepted the money.
"Give me the keys."
Logan handed her the keys to the rented apartment. She took them.
and left.
Hearing the door close and confirming that Lorraine had indeed gone. out to buy clothes, Logan finally relaxed. He looked at the draft agreement she had written and remained silent for a long time.
Then, his phone rang, breaking the silence. It was his special assistant, William, calling. With Lorraine out and the kids asleep, Logan didn't need to put his guard up. He answered the call. "What is it?"
"What do you mean 'what is it'? Can't I call without a reason? You've handed over all the company's affairs to me. I was already swamped to begin with, and now with your tasks, it's even worse. "Then when I call, you give me this attitude," William complained.
As the special assistant of Moore Corporation, his workload was heavy. Then, Logan told him he wouldn't be back for three days, which just piled on more work to his plate. "What do you think?" Logan responded sharply.
William chuckled. "Got it. I won't let the missus suffer a loss. Boss, you're helping her sell cherries, but she doesn't even know about it. Are you doing good deeds without expecting anything in return?" "She's my wife. The money goes into her pocket and is then used for our household. I benefit all the same."
William responded, "I suppose you're keeping the goodies within the family."
"Is Ernest Incorporated the one managed by Mr. Jacob? How come they're buying so many cherries from the missus?"
Logan paused before explaining, "Jacob's secretary and Lorraine are best friends. They've been close since childhood and have always been classmates. Their bond is stronger than ours." William quickly understood.
"When you contact Lorraine to buy the cherries, just mention that it was inspired by Earnest distributing fruit baskets to his employees for the holiday," Logan added.
William added, "Don't worry, I won't reveal your involvement. But
deceiving your wife like this isn't right, boss. They say you can't hide. the truth forever. If she replaces out one day and wants a divorce, don't come crying to me."
Logan paused before replying solemnly, "We'll deal with it when that day comes."
Lorraine's agreement stated that if she initiated a divorce, she would have to compensate him with a psychological damage fee. The amount was to be determined by him but within her financial capacity. He planned to help her grow her finances. That way, the more money she had, the higher the compensation could be. If she valued the

money, it would give him leverage.
Even if he could only buy a few days, it would give her time to cool down and give him a chance to explain and reconcile.
Unless she betrayed him, he wouldn't ever consider divorce.

Though they had only been together for two days, Logan could tell Lorraine had a good character. She was a career-driven woman. focused on making money and wouldn't stray. With such a handsome husband, she would be foolish to look elsewhere.
Logan was confident in himself.
"Before that day comes, win her heart. Make her fall deeply in love with you so that she won't be angry. Besides, discovering that one's husband is a billionaire would generally be a pleasant surprise," William suggested.
It was rare for the impossible to happen, so Logan would just have to make the most of his situation.
