Waited For The Luna -
Chapter 20
After the b***d moon, Collin went back to his pack with Olivia. We went for coffee before they left, and I was extremely happy for both of them.
I tried to avoid Luka at all cause. The k**s was breathtaking but I still couldn’t get over the bullying I experience over the past two weeks, plus the physical pain and emotional trauma I experienced during the first months we were mated. I held so much grudge that one night can never fix. But despite so, he always dropped by my home and left flowers on the porch or by my window. Kinda creepy though.
The k**s was just a defense mechanism I used to counter the heartbreak I experienced from Collin. Like the way I had s*x with Collin to forget about Luka, I was then using Luka to forget about Collin. Which sounds dumb I know.
I’ve been slacking off for three weeks since graduation, two weeks spent at home. The semester begins in the first week of August, welcoming orientations start a week before that. I only have two months of vacation so that only left me now with one month to move into Hanover. I still have no dormitory, no job and I haven’t arranged for a courier to bring my stuff and car over. Hence I spent the day looking for housing, a job and arrange a courier to get my stuff.
“Knock-Knock” Noah was standing by the door with a bowl of spaghetti. “You haven’t eaten princess, have a bite.” I didn’t reply but took the bowl of spaghetti. “What are you doing?” He asked, snatching the laptop away from my thighs.
“The semester is about to start soon and I haven’t even started anything,” I said munching on the big bite of spaghetti. I was indeed hungry.
“Well, if you need a hand I can accompany you to Hanover to check the site. We can look for a dormitory a job, then let’s pack your stuff once we get home.” He said. Noah finished college last year and was now working in a bank in the human side of our territory.
“That would be great Noah! Thank you.”
“By the way, Romeo dropped by again, and left flowers.”
“Should I talk to him before I go?” I asked with a frown.
“I think you should. But it’s totally up to you.” After that Noah went out of my room.
Luka and I weren’t really friends in the first place and was basically just co-existing before we were mates. I wouldn’t know how to talk to him, so I decided not to. For me it was more awkward to talk to him than to make out with him.
So I just let it be and not told anyone that I was going to leave in a few weeks time. I got approval from Alpha Gerald to leave but told him to keep it confidential, even from Luna Rose who can be a little busybody. I also didn’t told him that I was going to go to Dartmouth.
Noah and Abigail accompanied me to Hanover during the weekend. In just a few hours we were able to replace an apartment off-campus. Since I was a little late, most of the dormitories were already packed with incoming freshmen. But I didn’t mind since the apartment has a reasonable price and a space perfect for me to move around in. Only have to do a little furniture shopping which my loving and generous brother gifted for me. After getting my schedule, I then headed for a job interview at a high-class gym as a receptionist. After spending 3 days, all that’s left to do was to pack my stuff and ship it over.
As soon as we got back Abigail helped me pack my stuff, while Noah went back to work.
“Alright Bells, green post-it for college, red post-it for donation and yellow post-it for trash.” After a whole day my stuff were already in boxes.
“Are you excited to move out?” Abigial asked while pouring herself a glass of orange juice in the kitchen.
“Kinda. I’m gonna miss all of you, but I think I’ll be okay.” I told her. Abigail is like the older sister I never had. When I was 16 she was the one who introduced make-up to me. She is an absolute sweet heart.
“You know, I really think you should say your goodbyes to Luka, he is still your mate. If you go on like this for a long time, you’ll definitely feel the longing for each other.”
“I don’t know about that. I think it would better not to interact with him. I already have plans on staying away from the pack. I chose Dartmouth because aside from the scholarship grant, there aren’t much packs in that state. I love being who we are but the pack can feel a little suffocating especially now.”
I know I promised dad that I’ll be working in the pack once I’m finish but as we grow old, we realize that the future is uncertain and change is inevitable, so he accepted my decision eventually.
For once the timing was on my side. On the day I was moving out, Luka and Alpha Gerald was on a plane back from visiting a pack in New York. Noah, Dad and Abigail went and helped me move in. I called Macy but didn’t told her about my college since Trey was still Luka’s friend.
After a day of furniture shopping and decorating, I was finally ready to retreat to my bed. That night, I cooked dinner for my family, before sending them off tomorrow. I might not be seeing them in a long while after all.
“Thank you for helping me you guys. And my dear brother, thank you for your generosity.”
“Shut it! You’re paying me back once you finish! This is a loan.” He jokingly said.
“Honey, call me often. Okay”
“Ofcourse dad. And you should visit me during the holidays, I’m not planning on going back anytime soon.”
“And dad, please tell Luka…” Tell Luka what? I don’t know. I left him without any word because I didn’t deem it important, but I still want a to explain a little.
“It’s okay kiddo. I’ll handle Luka.” Dad assured.
The dinner went fun. We had a little sleep over in the living room. By morning I took them to the airport and said my goodbyes. I cried when they left. The next day I started my work as a receptionist. After a a week I attended the welcoming orientations and a week after that I began college. I kept to myself in the first few weeks but warmed up to a few people after a while. I already had friends and was experiencing the human life. No shifting, No mating and no moon goddess.
