Waited For The Luna -
Chapter 39
“Eric!” I called out as I saw him in his own b***d. When I got near I saw that he was shot in the shoulder and it probably hit an artery. “Eric, listen to me! No matter what you have to stay awake!” I then called an ambulance while applying pressure on his wound. After a few minutes, an ambulance arrived and Eric was taken to a hospital in less than 10 minutes. He lost a lot of b***d and was critical. A wolf could heal its broken bones but losing b***d is critical and real work for a medical practitioner.
I drove to the hospital in his car and when I got there the doctor said he lost a lot of b***d.
“He lost a lot of b***d and needs a transfusion. Don’t worry the b***d bank has enough.”
The operation went well. Eric was stable now and was in a ward. As it was nighttime, I slept in his ward and waited for morning to get ready for my shift. When I got up, Eric was still asleep. I then went and changed into my scrub suit. I visited Eric during my rounds and saw him sitting up.
“You’re up. You lost a lot of b***d.” I told him. He seemed calm and not in pain.
“I linked Luka about it already. But he wasn’t able to answer. He must still be busy back there. I’ll tell you if there is news from the pack.” Just when I was about to leave Eric stood up like he wasn’t a patient.
“Eric, what are you doing?” He ignored me and continued walking towards I don’t know.
I followed closely and he stopped walking.
“Eric you have to go back to —- “
“Mine!” He stopped and set his eyes on my resident Brooklyn Khan. He found her. Her mate and she’s human. Eric then went back to his room.
“What’s wrong Eric?” I felt excited for him, he’s waited all his years.
“She’s human. My mate is a human.” He said seemingly worried. I was expecting disappointment because she’s human. “I don’t mind the fact that she’s human, but the whole mating and werewolf doesn’t sit well with most of them. What if she sees me as a monster?”
In all my years knowing Eric, I’ve never seen him this insecure. He was always so confident.
“It doesn’t sound that bad. Dr. Brooklyn Khan is a kind woman. You should talk to her before you even think of rejecting her.”
“I don’t want to reject her. But if she wants me to… Plus no offense but the fact that she’s a doctor 3 hours away from the pack doesn’t sound like a comfortable setup based on your experience.” He said looking at me judgingly. “Not that I meant it’s wrong, it’s just I see how tired Luka can get driving. I don’t want to force her into moving in the pack with me if her life is built in this hospital.”
A*****e! I wanted to blurt out loud. But I kept my thoughts to myself. My expression however went sour.
“You’ll have to compromise somehow. I know it doesn’t sound comfortable but you should take it one step at a time first. Go out there and introduce yourself.”Looking at Eric deep in his thoughts, it seemed like he was already making plans on how to approach his mate. “Can you be my wingman?” Until he said that.
“Do it yourself, Eric. “
“Come on Bellamy. I’d return the favor someday. I did save your a*s last night. “
“Oh, you want to talk about getting the scores even?” I said crossing my arms.
“No that’s not what I meant. But please! You’re a Luna, you should be thinking abou—“
“shut up! I’ll do it! But you have one chance.” I then turned around to leave his ward.
“Thank you Bellamy I love you! You rock” He yelled, catching the attention of the nurses on the floor.

After a few minutes, I went back inside Eric’s room with Dr. Khan following behind me.
“Hey “Bells can you get me so—” Eric choked at the sight of the woman who walked behind me.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were gonna do it right away. I could’ve fixed my hair.” He whispered.
“Shut up!” I then faced Dr. Khan who was nearing us. “Dr. Khan this is Eric Becker, 26, suffered a gunshot wound last night.” Dr. Khan then went beside Eric.
“Hello, Mr. Becker. Dr. Cross told me that you’re suffering from constipation you mind if I check.” She then proceeded to check his stomach. I know constipation is not a serious medical concern for an orthopedics specialist like Dr. Khan but I worked my mouth trying to convince her how important this is.
“Do you feel any pain in this area?” She said as she poked on his well-sculpted stomach.
Come on Eric speak.
“Uhm no” Eric seriously sounds so lame right now. Where is his smart mouth now?
Dr. Khan then stood up seeming annoyed and faced me.
“Well, Dr. Cross I don’t see the need to call me regarding this matter. Your boyfriend here seems okay.”
“Oh! No! He’s not my boyfriend. He’s my boyfriend’s best friend.”I then looked at Eric signaling him to talk. “Well, Doctor… I think you’re pretty and I hope we can go out once I’m out.” Okay, that sounds like a typical Eric.
“Dr. Cross are you playing wingman for a patient.” She said. It doesn’t sound professional especially since she ranks higher than me.
“Dr. Khan please don’t scold her. It was all my idea. I don’t know. I’m kinda lost for words here.” Eric is the worst with his words. I just wished he could’ve said a little more than this, I’m just clinging onto the magic of the sacred mate bond to work.
“Mr. Becker I encourage you to get better in no time. I appreciate the gesture but I don’t date patients. Get well soon. ” Before she could leave, she whispered something in my ear. “He’s hot, but don’t do this again.” I smiled at her as a response.
“That doesn’t sound so bad,” I told Eric who didn’t look satisfied.
“When can I get discharged?” He asked, seeming eager to step out of the hospital to buy roses.
“Well, you look okay. I can say probably tomorrow. We’ll have to observe you overnight.”
He then placed both hands on the back of his head and laid down grinning wide. “That’s good. Oh Bellamy can you buy me fried chicken for lunch. The food here is nasty.”
I rolled my eyes and left a grinning smiling Eric, who looked so confident after his horrible attempt at asking a girl out.
