Chapter 68

Eunice hadn’t talked to anyone in five years, so she had a lively chat with Lucille and Bailey.

“My mom left the company to me. It specializes in producing perfumes. Luminosity Films was a later addition,” Lucille explained how she’d taken over the company.

Eunice was a smart lady. She immediately understood that Lucille’s mother had passed away, so she didn’t ask for more details.

“To be honest, I’ve always liked Starbright Scents‘ perfumes, and I’ve always been using them. The perfumer who made the fragrances is incredible.

“Each perfume has its own unique properties, and the scent is pleasant and just right. On top of all that, it gives the wearer a sense of immersion and prestige,” Eunice said in admiration. She genuinely liked Starbright Scents.

Bailey smiled wider upon hearing her words. She raised her eyebrows at Eunice and asked, “Eunie, would you like to meet the perfumer?”

Eunice asked, surprised, “Can I?”

If it was possible, she wanted to meet the perfumer who made such meaningful and comforting perfumes.

“She’s right in front of you,” Bailey said playfully.

Eunice covered her mouth in shock. She looked at Lucille and Bailey with wide eyes.

Both of them thought she looked funny and cute. They saw Eunice as someone quiet and poised, so they hadn’t expected her to make an expression like that.

Eunice only found her voice after a long time. She asked in disbelief,” Am I dreaming?”

On the other side of the room divider, Spencer mentioned someone no one dared to bring up, especially not in front of lan.

After taking a sip of wine, Spencer turned to lan and asked casually, “It’s been five years, and you still haven’t moved on from what happened to Sage Lennon?”

The others looked at lan at the same time.

lan frowned. His gaze was icy, and he looked dangerous and threatening.

He scoffed. “Do you think she’s done atoning for her sins?”

His hatred for Eunice grew whenever he recalled how horribly his lover and child had died.

Eunice had even refused to sit next to him tonight and made up an excuse about being dirty just because he’d ditched her on the first floor. It seemed like he’d been treating her too well recently.

After a few seconds of silence, Spencer said, “Just don’t regret it.”

He was the only one with the guts to say something like that. The others didn’t want to get punched in the face, so they stayed silent.

lan’s expression was cold. Regret? Why would he ever regret it?

It was 9:30 pm when Lucille and Spencer returned to Orchidstone Garden.

When she entered her apartment, she received a message from Bailey saying she was home. Bailey had sent that message in the group chat they’d just created.

Lucille replied, “Got it. We just reached home as well.”

Bailey instantly responded, “I didn’t know Mr. Layton also warmed your bed. He’s truly a man of many talents.” She added a lenny face at the end of her message.

Lucille laid on the couch and stared at Bailey’s messages for a few seconds.

Then, she replied, “Since you’re so pitiful, I’ll give you a heating pad tomorrow. “Be good and use it to warm your bed.” She sent a GIF of a kitten giving another kitten pats on the head.

“Babe, you’ve changed. You don’t love me anymore. How could you roast me like this?” Bailey ended her message with multiple crying emojis.
