Chapter 65 He Finally Made Space for Her

Lewis looked at what Josephine was signing. He said nothing.

Josephine waited for a very long time before looking up and meeting his gaze She repeated what she said. However, before she could finish signing. he grabbed her fingers.

He said in a low voice, "Have you forgotten what I said?

Josephine blinked and smiled bitterly, then dropped her hands.

What had he said previously? He told her not to fall for him

Lewis sighed, and his gaze softened. He wiped away the tears in the corner of her eyes and comforted her "Don't cry. See, we're the only ones at home now. No one can disturb us. Isn't that great? Josephine turned her head aside to avoid his hand. Lewis blinked and domineeringly turned her head back, forcing Josephine to look at him.

"I said, isn't it great?" he asked once more

Josephine bit her lip, not looking at him She did not know when it started, but looking at that face daily suffocated her It was so overwhelming she could not breathe It was as if there was an invisible chain around her neck, tying her to the house like she was a dog. She had no

friends or freedom

She had nothing.

Lewis lifted her chin as if he would not rest until he got a response from her Josephine was forced to look at him, but she was no longer responding to him. That was because she realized that no matter what she did, it would be futile

"I treat you so well. Why would you need other people?" Lewis muttered softly. Every time he

said such words, he sounded like the devil seductively enticing her

Josephine wanted to break free of him, but Lewis hugged her, lowered his head, and kissed her.

Josephine turned her head aside to evade him, but he forcefully turned it back. He bit her lips it was less of a kiss, more of a warning

Josephine squirmed She tried pushing Lewis away but to no avail. He was so much stronger.

Lewis flung her onto the sofa.

He stripped her, exposing her bare skin to the chilly air.

Lewis was like a demon doing as he pleased as he chewed her lips. After a short while,

Josephine tasted blood Just as she was close to asphyxiation, she could not help but bite him

back

Their blood mixed with saliva. It entered Josephine's throat, choking her. Her face flushed, and she coughed violently.

Lewis finally let her go

Josephine slid to the floor, supporting herself with her hands. She spat a huge gout of saliva and blood. She opened her mouth and gasped for air for a long time before she finally regained

her breath.

Lewis took the chance to sit next to her. With one folded leg, he rested his hand on his knee and wiped away the blood stains on his lips. Then, be lit a cigarette.

Cigarette smoke wafted between them. They were sitting so close together yet divided by the

smoke

Josephine gathered her clothes and turned to look at him.

He silently puffed on his cigarette His hair and clothes were messed up. She had no idea when she had ripped off the two of the buttons on his collar. There were scratch marks on his chest

too.

Josephine tugged on Lewis's sleeve. He turned to look at her calmly like nothing had happened a moment ago

Josephine signed. "Can you have Mrs. Jinkins come back?"

Lewis retracted his gaze He dipped his cigarette in the ashtray, putting it out, and said, You're still not listening to me."

Josephine lowered her gaze and clenched her fists tightly

After a while, she mustered up the courage, walked over to the drawers, and produced the divorce agreement in front of Lewis.

Lewis was not angry. He merely reached out his hand, accepted the divorce agreement, and flipped through it.

"When did you prepare this again?" He did not look at Josephine. After going through the divorce agreement, he nonchalantly tore it up into pieces and tossed them aside. Its pieces sat on the ground like their broken relationship, incapable of mending.

Lewis pushed himself up, unbuttoning his shirt while he headed upstairs. "You'll be reporting to the office tomorrow."

He casually called the shots on their marriage and her life.

Josephine went to the bathroom to wash up. She grabbed her phone and dialed Mrs. Jinkins once more, but the call did not go through.

She curled up on the sofa and fell asleep. When she woke up, it was already the next day. She

found herself wandering into the kitchen, only to replace that Mrs. Jinkins was not there. After a long moment of silence, she was overwhelmed with grief.

Habit was a terrifying thing.

She washed her hands and made breakfast. When she placed breakfast on the table, Lewis had just come downstairs.

When Mrs. Jinkins was still around, Lewis had never once eaten at home, yet he sat at the

dining table that day.

Just like before, Josephine served him a bowl of oatmeal, placing it in front of him. She looked at him closely and watched him eat.

Lewis took a few mouthfuls before looking up at her. "What do

you want?"

Josephine pouted and signed. "Do I have to go to your office to work?"

"Do you not want to?"

"What about Sierra?"

"She resigned," Lewis said.

So, it seemed that Sierra had entered the entertainment industry. Lewis finally made

her to be with him.

It was not out of kindness; it was out of pity. Should she feel honored?

"Quickly eat your breakfast."

Josephine signed. "Can I not go?"

Lewis looked at her icily. "Why? You like washing dishes at the restaurant that much?"

Josephine lowered her head. "I don't think I'm up to the job."

"You think you're not up to it, or do you just don't want to go?"

Of course, she did not want to go. What could a person who could not speak do at an office? She would only be a laughingstock.

Josephine picked up her bowl and ate the oatmeal. At that moment, she had no choice but to go. If Lewis wanted her there, she had to be there. After breakfast, she changed her clothes and headed to the office with Lewis.

When they reached the office, Lewis put Conrad in charge of her. Conrad was rather surprised that Lewis got his wife to come work at the office.

However, at the office, other than him and Seth, almost no one knew that Josephine was Lewis's wife. If she were to truly work in the office, tough days were ahead for her.

Conrad could only do as he was told. Josephine working in the office was much better than Sierra. When Sierra left, everyone in the office was so relieved that they almost popped champagne to celebrate. Conrad took Josephine to Human Resources to get her onboard He arranged for her to be the president's secretary, which was previously Sierra's position.

He did not feel comfortable leaving Josephine in the hands of the head secretary, so he personally took her under his wing

"Mrs. Al Josephine, I'll call you by your name in the office. This was Sierra's daily job. Have a look. Text me if you have any questions.

Josephine nodded and accepted the documents that Conrad handed her. She had a look at thems

in detail. The job was quite simple. It was just handling daily chores for Lewis such as clearing his desks, ordering food or flight tickets, and even accompanying him to business meeting She did not have to do anything else

Josephine had nothing to do, so she sat at the desk and let her mind wander

The secretary department had five secretaries in total The other four could not help but look

at Josephine

Why had another one appeared when one just left? The other four secretaries had secretly believed th the position was for Lewis's lover Could this woman be another one of his new

toys?

While they were gossiping, Sierra strode into the office. She looked over at her previous desk, and the smile on her face vanished What replaced it was rage

She marched over and slammed the table, angrily saying. "Who gave you permission to sit

here!"
