Paul worked quickly and soon finished cleaning the kitchen. When he returned to the living room, he saw that Miranda had already cut up the fruits and arranged them into a fruit platter.
“I didn’t let you help clean up, so you did this instead, huh?” Paul shook his head helplessly
Miranda picked up a piece of apple with a fork and handed it to him, saying, “Life is about keeping oneself active. I don’t want to be seen as a parasite.”
Paul took it and said, “Oh, I need to go back and take out the trash. Do you want to head downstairs together?”
“Sure.”
After throwing out the trash, Miranda remembered that her fridge at home was empty. She hadn’t had time to do any grocery shopping lately, so she suggested they go to the grocery store. Naturally, Paul agreed without hesitation.
Little did they know, Susan arrived at the entrance of the alley right after they left. “Okay, park here. You can’t drive in further.”
The driver nodded. “Yes, madam.”
Opening the car door, Susan suddenly paused for a moment before taking out a pair of flats she had prepared in advance. She had almost forgotten about them.
Susan climbed all the way up to the seventh floor in one go. Now that she was wearing flats, she didn’t feel as frazzled as she did last time.
She took out her spare key. After thinking for a moment, she put it back and chose to knock on the door instead. “Paul, are you home?”
After calling out several times with no response, she finally used the key to open the door. “Huh? Where is he?
Her phone rang just then, and she answered, “Hello?”
“Did you really go to Paul’s place?” Felix asked.
“Yeah.”
“Have you looked at the time? It’s late at night. What are you thinking, going over so late at night and disturbing his rest? What’s the point of this?”
Susan glanced around the apartment. Then, she checked both bedrooms, kitchen, and the balcony. That’s weird… Where’s Paul?”
“What? He isn’t home?” Felix asked.
“Yes, I’ve looked everywhere and couldn’t replace him.”
Well! You rushed over all excited, and yet no one was at home. What a waste of time and effort!”
“You don’t understand. Paul called me tonight to ask where the cinnamon and sage leaves were. I knew he was going to cook the moment he asked.”

Chapter 0604
“What’s the big deal with him cooking? Why are you making such a fuss?”
*Hmph, and you still won’t admit you’re not paying attention to our son. Have you seen him cook a single meal since he returned from abroad? Fine, even if he suddenly felt like cooking tonight, think about what today is!”
What’s tod
Felix paused with his cup in hand.
*The Scientist Commendation Ceremony! He received his awards this morning, and I called him at noon. to tell him we had reserved two tables to celebrate tonight. Guess what he said?”
“What did he say?”
“He said tonight wouldn’t work. He had something more important to do. Do you think that it could be cooking?”
“And why not?*
“You fool! What’s the point of him cooking alone? He’s obviously celebrating with someone else; that’s why he would be in the mood to cook. Do you get it now?”
Felix sputtered. “No… Where do you get all these ideas? You’re acting so suspiciously over your son cooking himself a meal.”
“Forget it, there’s no point in talking to you. You don’t get it, and it’s a waste of my time.” Susan took a deep breath.
Felix was at a loss for words after hearing Susan’s blunt remarks. “So, now you’ve gone all the way to his place, and Paul is nowhere to be found. When are you going to return?”
Susan answered, “I’ll wait a while for him.”
“What are you waiting for? If our son is really in a relationship, you showing up unannounced like this is almost like you’re planning to catch him in the act. Does it seem appropriate to you?”
Susan didn’t reply.
“Besides, Paul is sensible and knows his limits. If he hasn’t told us something, there’s a reason for it. He’ll tell us on his own when the time is right. It is unnecessary for you to ambush him.”
“That makes sense.”
“Well then, it’s the middle of winter. Aren’t you cold? Come home so that we can go to bed together.” “Alright.” Susan gave in and walked out of the alley.
