Chapter 0606
“What’s the matter? Why are you looking at me like that?” Paul asked.
Miranda answered, “It’s nothing. I just felt that you’re a really good person, Dr. Jefferson.”
He was truly the best.
“Come on, let’s not stand here. Aren’t you cold?” He chuckled.
Miranda rubbed her hands. “A little.”

It was Saturday again.
Miranda woke up early, made herself a sandwich, and poured some orange juice for breakfast. She timed it just right so that when Paul was about to leave, she handed him a paper bag containing the sandwich and orange juice.
“Breakfast?” Paul asked.
“Yeah!”
“Perfect, I haven’t had breakfast yet. Thank you.”
Paul was heading to the lab. Miranda was also going, but she needed to organize and clean up her place. before that. While she was mopping the floor, her phone rang.
“Hello?‘ she answered.
“Miranda, it’s Olivia! You need to come to the hospital and visit Dr. Young…”
At the hospital, Miranda opened the door and rushed into the ward. “Dr. Young?”
She saw Christine lying in the hospital bed with an IV drip in her arm, while Olivia was pacing anxiously beside her. Seeing Miranda, she finally let out a sigh of relief. “Miranda, you’re finally here!”
“Olivia, what happened? Weren’t you supposed to go to Balmy Mount with Dr. Young for some recuperation?”

Every year, Bedford College provided several spots for staff members to go on trips for recuperation as a staff benefit. Based on her age and experience, Christine’s name should have been on the list long ago, but she always declined.
This
year, Miranda finally persuaded her. She assured Christine that there was nothing much going on at college, and she would be guiding Madison and Sebastian. There wouldn’t be any problem.
Plus, there weren’t any upcoming conferences. Only then did Christine agree to go.
Olivia explained, “Yes, we were supposed to leave yesterday. However, Dr. Young got a phone call in the morning. I don’t know who it was from or what was said, but everything went wrong after that. I rushed her to the hospital,”

“What did the doctor say?” Miranda asked.
She answered, “They said it was due to emotional stress, and she needs to stay two days in the hospital for observation. However, Dr. Young was Insisting on being discharged this morning.
“I tried to convince her to stay and at least finish the two bottles of IV drip, but she wouldn’t listen. She looked anxious and furious, like she was ready to fight it out with someone.”
Olivia didn’t think much of what she was saying, but Miranda was stunned when she heard Olivia’s words.
She walked over to the hospital bed. Just then, Christine woke up. She became agitated at the sight of Miranda. “Did you all think I was dead?”
Olivia was shocked. ‘Dr Young, what are you saying? This is Mirandal Why would she curse you like that?” However, Miranda lowered her head and sighed deeply. They couldn’t keep it hidden after all. Christine still found out.
“Olivia, could you please get some hot water? I’ll help Dr. Young freshen up later.”
“Oh, of course. I’ll go and you two can talk.” Olivia took the thermos. As she passed by Miranda, she lowered her voice and whispered, “The doctor said that Dr. Young mustn’t be upset anymore.”
After Miranda gave her a reassuring look, Olivia left the ward and closed the door.
Miranda turned to look at Christine, who was fuming on the hospital bed. She sighed and sat next to the bed.
Christine snapped, “Who told you to sit? Stand up!”
“Dr. Young, I ran all the way here from the hospital entrance. It’s winter, but I’m sweating. Can’t I sit and rest for a while?”
Sure enough, Christine noticed the beads of sweat on her forehead.
Miranda quickly took off her scarf and coat, feeling more comfortable as she did so.
Christine patted the edge of the bed. “Fine, sit, but don’t think this means I’ve forgiven you.”
“Yes, yes. I know you’re still angry, and it’s not so easy to earn your forgiveness,” Miranda remarked with a cheeky smile.
Christine rolled her eyes but didn’t reply.
