Chapter 0608

After reassuring Christine, Miranda helped her wash up and reminded her to finish the IV drip before going through with the hospital discharge.

Before leaving, she called Olivia aside. “I’ve spoken to Dr. Young, there will be a car to take you both to the retreat tomorrow. While you’re away, I’m counting on you to take good care of her.”

Olivia was overjoyed. “Miranda, you’re the only one who knows how to handle her! I tried talking to her and persuading her, but nothing worked. It really takes you to get through to her. Don’t worry, I’ll definitely take good care of Dr. Young!”

“Sorry for troubling you, Olivia.”

After Miranda left, Olivia returned to the ward, Christine glanced behind her. “Is she gone?”

“Yes, she’s gone. She specifically asked me to take good care of you before she left. Miranda is truly a thoughtful child.”

Christine nodded. “Yes, she’s a good kid. It’s a shame that I’m old and useless. Not only can I no longer secure resources for them, but I’ve also caused them to be targeted by Sophie and had to struggle in their studies.”

“Please don’t say that. Miranda has never blamed you. Besides, she’s not the kind of person who can’t handle problems. If she says she has a solution, she definitely has a plan in mind.”

Olivia was startled at Christine’s words.

Christine said firmly, “Give me my phone. I need to make a call.”

Time flew by, and soon, it was time for their weekly meeting at the same restaurant outside campus.

Sam arrived first and ordered the dishes. Jack came straight from the construction site, while Miranda came from the lab. They arrived at almost the same time.

“Jack!”

“Miranda, why aren’t you wearing a scarf? Your neck is bare. Isn’t it cold out?‘

“I left my

scarf at the lab, but it’s fine. I zipped up my jacket, so half of my face was covered.

Jack didn’t know how to respond to that.

The two walked into the restaurant and spotted Sam Immediately. Dressed in a suit, his upright posture highlighted his broad shoulders and narrow waist, making him stand out amongst the other customers.

“Mr. Cooper,” Jack greeted him.

However, Sam’s attention was fully concentrated on Miranda, who arrived simultaneously. “Miranda, you’re here? Come sit.” Then, he pulled out a chair for her.

Puzzled, Jack wondered if he was invisible.

He pulled out his own chair with a darkened expression and sat down.

Right on time, the dishes were served on the table. The walter also brought drinks. Jack noticed that it was his usual favorite drink and his mood instantly improved.

That was Sam’s strength in being observant and considerate. If he wanted, he could make anyone go from feeling dissatisfied to content.

“Breaded tenderloin?” Miranda exclaimed in surprise, is this a new dish? I don’t remember seeing it on

the menu.”

They had eaten here many times before and read the menu numerous times. Miranda already knew the menu by heart.

Sam said, “It wasn’t on the menu before, but it is now.”

“Huh?”

“I suggested it to the owner’s wife, Nancy Tate, last time, and she took it to heart. It’s a new addition to

the menu.”

Jack gave him a thumbs–up. “That’s Mr. Cooper for you. By the way, Miranda, I remember you used to love eating tenderloin as a kid, especially the fried breaded version…”

He suddenly stopped mid–sentence. His gaze shifted between the two of them as realization dawned upon him.

Sam’s lips curved into a smile, and he said, “The dishes are all here. Let’s talk over the meal.”

“Oh!” Jack remembered the main topic they were supposed to discuss. “Construction for all the floors has gone smoothly for this week. We’ve already had someone to confirm the dates, and we plan to finish the roof by next Wednesday…”

“So soon?” Miranda was once again amazed at the rapid pace of their progress.
