illuminated by the streetlights, Miranda and her two companions chatted as they walked.

The cold wind blew, and their breath Instantly turned to mist that rose slowly into the dark sky.

“Mimi, do you want a latte? It’s my treat…” Jack grinned, flashing her a bright smile.

Miranda was about to reply when a young man suddenly appeared in front of her, blocking her way.

Under their curious gazes, he magically pulled out a bouquet of roses from behind his back and offered it to Miranda.

“Hello, I’m a final–year graduate student from Dunham College,” he began. “I… I’ve been watching you for a long time… These flowers are for you. I hope you like them!

“Could we maybe exchange numbers? I fell in love with you at first sight. I know this might be sudden… I replace it unbelievable myself, but it’s what happened. I hope you’ll give me a chance….”

Miranda hadn’t expected something like this to happen even outside of campus and so late at night.

Shel

had been relieved not to “coincidentally” run into Hansel and Willow when they left the restaurant, but there was a bigger surprise around the corner!

Jack realized what was happening and glanced at Sam’s face immediately. Sure enough, his expression was as dark as thunder.

There was no helping it. Miranda was just too popular. They couldn’t even go out for a meal without someone trying to confess to her.

Jack couldn’t help but chuckle.

Miranda hesitated for a moment as she looked at the bouquet of roses in front of her. “The flowers are beautiful…

The young man’s face lit up with a hopeful smile. “Will you accept-”

“But I’m sorry, I can’t accept them.”

“W–Why not?”

“First of all, I don’t know you, and we’re not close. As they say, I haven’t done anything to deserve this, so I can’t accept your flowers.”

“You don’t need to earn it,” the young man explained anxiously. “These are simply a gift for you.”

“Then I shouldn’t accept them all the more. Roses represent love. If I accept this bouquet tonight, everyone would know what that would mean, so I’m very sorry.”

“That’s not it. I’m just giving you these flowers. I’m not saying you need to be my girlfriend right aw-”

Miranda interrupted, “But ultimately, that’s your end goal, isn’t it?”

The young man was left speechless. However, he was unwilling to give up. “Then, can we at least add each other on WhatsApp?”

“No, I can’t-”

Before Miranda could finish her sentence, Sam stepped forward. He put his arm around her shoulder and pulled her into his embrace.

The young man was stunned. “Who are you?”

Sam replied, “Isn’t it obvious? I’m her boyfriend.”

“What?” The young man’s eyes widened.

“Surprised?” Sam raised an eyebrow. “Or do I not look the part?”

The young man’s gaze darted between them in shock as he tried to process the news. Seeing that Miranda didn’t deny it, he looked like he had been hit over the head.

In a daze, he muttered, “I heard you didn’t have a boyfriend…”

“Well, she might not have before, but now she has. Looks like your news isn’t up to date, mate.” Sam

smirked.

Thoroughly embarrassed, the young man stammered his apologies and fled, leaving the roses scattered on the ground.

Jack couldn’t help but look at the young man’s retreating figure with sympathy. “Poor guy. He finally worked up the courage to confess to the woman he loves, only to replace out…” He shook his head.

Sam shot him a sidelong glance. “You sound like you’ve been in his shoes. What, have you been turned down by a woman too?”

Jack bristled with anger immediately. “Don’t spout nonsense! I never confessed, so how could I be rejected?”

“Oh, so you found out she had a boyfriend while you were preparing to confess to her?” Sam remarked.
