Evelina broke out in a cold sweat, her hands trembling so much that she couldn't even hold her phone steady.

She scrambled away from Lemira's desk in a panic.

But Alaric blocked her way, his tone serious and demanding, "You haven't answered my question, Evelina. What were you doing just now?"

Evelina's hands shook uncontrollably, and she couldn't bring herself to meet Alaric's gaze.

Stammering, she managed to get out, "I-I was just trying to help Asher's project win the bid. After all, Maple Group is currently his competitor, and I wanted to lend a hand." Alaric was flabbergasted that Evelina would stoop to such lows!

But Alaric wasn't in the mood to listen to Evelina's explanations, insisting sternly, "You need to go apologize to Lemira, now!"

Evelina's voice was laced with desperation, her panic evident, "Alaric, I was just doing this for Asher, please don't tell anyone."
