Noah went home and told his parents about the contract, and unfortunately for him, Geo was right. They were delighted by the news. They didn't believe him at first, but when they saw the paper that Geo had given Noah, their jaws dropped to the ground and they started doing this weird, funky dance that Noah never wanted to see them do again.

Ever.

"Mom, are you sure you want to send me to Bran Prep? It's a four-hour drive from here," Noah pressed, eager to change their minds.

"Are you kidding me? Of course, I am!" she exclaimed, lecturing him about how amazing and posh Bran Prep was while his father e-mailed Mr. Acorn about further details about the contract.

"But what about the strange animal attacks and the students who suddenly disappear there?"

"No one's going to attack you, Noah," sighed his dad.

"Yeah, well, what if they eat me instead?"

He raised a brow. "Nobody is going to eat you either."

"How do you know?" huffed Noah. "Is it because you don't think I look like a snack? You're right, I'm not. I'm a full course meal!"

His parents both shared a look while Noah continued to complain about all the downsides about going so far away.

"... And Micka! I can't go to a school where there's no Micka!"

"I'm sure you'll replace another student named Mika," joked his father. Noah glared at him and his father let out a sheepish chuckle. "Bad timing?"

"Noah, is there another reason why you don't want to go to Bran Prep High?" asked his mother, gently brushing his hair away from his forehead.

Noah wanted to tell them about the FBI and how vampires might actually exist, and that he, a 16-year-old high school student who only just learned how to tie his shoes, was asked to investigate these blood-sucking creatures. But Noah didn't want to take the risk of getting Micka kicked out of school. They were the FBI for god's sake, who knows if there were secret cameras implanted in his house to eavesdrop on their conversation?!

"I just don't think I'll fit in," he mumbled.

"Of course you will," said his father with a gentle smile. "Didn't you just say that you were a full course meal? Everybody there would love a bite of you, you'll fit in just fine."

Noah scowled, taking what his father said literally. He imagined being surrounded by a mob of vampires in a classroom, vampires who were just itching to get a bite of him. He shivered at the thought.

But no matter how hard he tried to convince his parents, they had already made up their minds. Noah was going to Bran Prep High, and there was no getting out of it.

Noah was sent straight to the principal's office the next day. He sat in front of Mr. Accorn's desk while Geo and Carl both glared at him through their tinted sunglasses, before glancing towards Micka who sat beside Noah.

"What part of 'don't tell anyone' did you understand?" demanded Geo through clenched teeth, looking back towards Noah.

"Micka isn't just anyone," he corrected.

"You heard him," agreed Micka.

"What part of 'don't tell you friends' did you not get?" asked Carl, discontent as well.

"He's not just a friend," said Noah. "He's my best friend."

"And did you not get the part where we told you that this was supposed to be top secret?" hissed Geo.

"Yeah, but secrets don't count between best friends," said Noah.

"They really don't," smiled Micka innocently. Geo groaned, squeezing his fingers against his temples.

"And why in the world is the kid wearing sunglasses?" he muttered, glaring at Micka's shades.

"Because we were scared that you'd have that memory-erasing gadget like the guys in Men In Black, you know, the-"

Geo pulled away from his hands and glared at the boys. "This has to be a joke."

"You said that vampires existed, that could be a joke too," argued Noah. "Look, you convinced my parents with your sketchy contract, but if I'm transferring schools against my own will, then I at least want to take my best friend with me."

Noah pulled out the contract that he and his parents signed. "I'll give you this if you agree to take Micka too."

Noah had called Micka last night after arguing with his parents, telling him about what happened in the principal's office that morning. Micka didn't believe him, asking him if he had accidentally bumped his head on his way home or if he had fallen down a flight of stairs.

But Noah swore that he was telling the truth, sending Micka a picture of the contract. Both of them still didn't really believe that vampires existed and that the FBI was probably making a huge mistake thinking that they did, and the thought of a vampire gang was absolutely absurd to their ears, but Noah was still obligated to transfer schools.

"So all we have to do is prove that vampires don't exist and that these attacks are just caused by wild animals, right?" said Micka over the phone.

"But are they caused by wild animals?"

"I dunno, but they sure aren't caused by vampires," snorted Micka. "We just have to prove the FBI wrong and they'll let us go back to our normal lives."

Noah paused. "Wait, what do you mean by 'we' and 'us'?"

"You and me, who else? Doofus."

"Micka, I'm not even allowed to be telling you this right now. Didn't you hear the part where they threatened to kick you out of school?!"

"Yeah. They'll kick me out of our school and send me to Bran Prep High with you," Micka beamed.

Noah frowned. "I don't know, Geo is really intimidating, and he doesn't look like someone who changes his mind easily."

"I am the master of persuasion, just leave it to me."

Noah furrowed his brows. "Master of persuasion? The last time you tried to persuade someone, you kicked them in the shin and stole their candy bar!"

"It was a one-time thing," Micka pointed out.

"Didn't you stomp on someone's toe when you bumped into his car?"

"Okay, fine, maybe I don't have the art of persuasion in me," muttered Micka. "But hey, I'm bitter and cynical. It's one of my charms."

"I don't think you know what that word means," said Noah. "Or how to count."

Noah and Micka ended up arguing even more than when Noah was with his parents. But Micka refused to accept the idea that they might have to separate, especially over some ridiculous theory that mystical creatures existed. The next day, Micka followed Noah to the principal's office, which brings us to their current situation.

"Absolutely not," growled Geo. "Micka doesn't have the grades to be accepted in that school, he'll only draw attention and suspicion which is exactly what we're trying to avoid."

"Can't you bend some rules? You're the FBI, aren't you?" argued Noah. "I can't go on this crazy vampire investigation alone. You guys said so yourself, I'm just a kid!"

Carl looked towards Geo. "He does have a point."

"So you're suddenly okay with this?" asked Geo, arms crossed over his broad chest.

"We're lucky enough that someone's willing to go undercover in the first place. We can forge a fake profile and meddle with Micka's school record, it shouldn't be that hard," said Carl. "Besides, maybe having two investigators is better than one."

"Right, because if one of them dies, then the other one can still report to us."

Noah and Micka's eyes widened while Carl mentally groaned.

"No, Geo, because they'll be able to depend on each other if things get bad," sighed Carl. Geo unfolded his arms and turned towards the two boys who straightened their back. He could that they were both nervous.

"Fine, we'll figure something out," growled Geo. "But I hope you two know that this is serious business. One of you two can actually get killed."

He glanced towards Noah. "We wouldn't have come asked kids for help if we weren't desperate. Sending in two of you doubles the risk of one of you getting hurt. I hope you're well aware of what kind of position you're putting your best friend in."

Geo's serious voice made Noah realize that he was putting Micka in danger, and suddenly felt a pang of guilt.

"Noah didn't make me doing anything, I'm going because I want to," said Micka. "If he's going on some kind of suicide mission to investigate mystical creatures, then I sure as hell am going with him."

Carl nudged Geo in the rib, giving him a look. Noah and Micka reminded them of when they were trainees for the FBI. They always worked best together and knew how reassuring it was to have a friend on a dangerous mission.

Geo let out a tired sigh, taking out a metal suitcase from under the desk. He placed it on the table in front of the boys, lifting the locks that clicked open.

"Is this the part where you erase our memories?" gulped Micka. Geo rolled his eyes.

"You boys will be surrounded by vampires in a few days," he said, sternly. "If we're sending you on a suicide mission, we at least want you two to go in prepared."

A/N: Can we just agree on the fact that Noah and Micka are best friend goals? And that Geo definitely has a soft spot despite his rigid appearance?
