Chapter 75

In the next moment, Mercer’s expression steeled. He scolded Calla ruthlessly, “You’re already an adult. Why don’t you know how to do things in moderation?

“Don’t you know that you’re pregnant? You can tidy up the things in that useless apartment whenever you want. Why do you need to tire yourself out within a few days?

“You should be thankful that the two workers were kind enough to send you to the hospital immediately. Plus, they also found my number in your phone. If not, the consequences would’ve been catastrophic. Don’t you understand?”

Calla said softly, “I know.”

Calla lowered her gaze, acknowledging her mistakes as Mercer scolded her. After all, this was indeed her fault. She thought that she could refurbish the residence before he came home.

Who would’ve that her body wouldn’t be able to tough it out? She’d only been busy for three days but

fainted just like that.

Mercer looked down to check his watch. Then, he announced, “I have an important meeting later, I’ll have Ally stay to take care of you. I’ll be heading out now.

Just as he turned to leave, Calla sat up in a hurry and tugged on his arm while asking nervously, “Did you tell my mom about this?”

Carol wasn’t a very courageous person. She couldn’t handle many things. How flustered would she be if she learned that Calla had been hospitalized?

Mercer stared at her for a moment before replying, “Since you’re alright, let’s not worry your mother. I didn’t inform her about this.”

Calla sighed in relief as she said, “That’s great. If my mom found out, she’d scold me to death.”

Mercer said matter of factly, “I for one think that she should come over and give you a good scolding.”

Calla pleaded, “Can you stop rubbing salt onto my wound?”

At this moment, she saw Mercer glancing at her with a forlorn gaze. Although he was otherwise expressionless, she could read a smither of concern in his eyes. It was enough to excite her.

In the next second, Mercer asked coldly, “Can you let me go?”

Only then did Calla realize she was still grabbing onto his arm. When she saw Ally standing by the bed, she retracted her hand and looked down. She was rather scared to make eye contact with Mercer.

She was busy chastising herself inwardly. What was she doing? She hadn’t seen him for a mere few days- this was completely unnecessary.

Mercer stared at her and said, “I’m leaving now.” He then turned and walked out.

After Mercer left, the whole room fell silent. Calla looked up to see Ally smiling lightly. She flashed a shy smile of her own as she apologized, “Sorry for making you see that.”

Ally beamed and responded, “Every couple has different ways of flirting with each other.”

“What?” Calla stared at her blankly, Had she been flirting with Mercer?

Ally a grin with her hand. She said, “Still, your method of flirting is rather special. I’ve always

imagined how Mr. Garland would flirt with his wife. Today, I managed to get a glimpse.”

Calla was rather embarrassed. She laughed drily and said, “He just likes to play pranks on me.”

She had no idea what else to say. Did she have to admit that she and Mercer were a married couple with no love between them?
