Chapter 1677: When He Becomes Her Bride
Chapter 1677: When He Becomes Her Bride"Darrin, what are you doing?" Joyce looked at Darrin with confusion, unaware that they had just been in a confrontation.
"Nothing," Darrin awkwardly evaded.
"Okay, Miss," Grizela held Kiki's hand and took her to the adjacentequestrian counter to pick out the necessary items. As they left, shecouldn't help but glare at Darrin. So his name was Darrin, just abodyguard. What was he so arrogant about? She was the captain ofthe prestigious Royal Rohomes Guard.
But he did have some skills. She had actually slipped up earlier andalmost got caught by him.
She found an excuse for herself, thinking that there were too manypeople around, and she didn't want to be discovered, so she couldn'tfully display her abilities.
If she had another chance to spar with him, she would make him eatdirt. Hmph.
Reuben apologized to Joyce, "I'm sorry for the rudeness of my peoplejust now."
“It's okay," Joyce waved her hand.
Darrin approached at this moment, took the items from Joyce's hands, and asked, "Commander, do you need to continue shopping?"
“Yes. I'll look for a little longer. Wait for me," Joyce nodded.
Darrin glanced at Reuben and discreetly stood by Joyce's side. Sincehe was from Rohomes, he had to be cautious.
Reuben sensed Darrin's hostility once again, and he narrowed his eyesslightly. This man had been guarding Joyce closely, making it almostimpossible to get close to her.
His gaze noticed the bag in Darrin's hand. Among the shopping items, there were baby bottles. They weren't intentionally packaged, so theydidn't seem to be gifts. He glanced at Joyce again, who was carefullyselecting baby supplies.
He was taken aback. Was she pregnant?
At this moment, Kiki ran over and called out, “Cousin, come and helpme look, too. I don't know what to choose. Grizela said she doesn'tknow either.”
Reuben bent down and patted Kiki's head. "Alright. But I don't knowhow to choose either. How about this?"
He glanced at Joyce, then he held Kiki's hand and pointed towardsJoyce. "She's Anderson's mommy. She definitely knows what toprepare. Why don't you ask her?"
Joyce overheard their conversation. Her eyes narrowed slightly.Reuben had even found out Anderson's name. What exactly did hewant?
And just now, Kiki actually called him cousin?
She remembered that Luther had mentioned that the Bryant family hadonly two daughters. The eldest daughter, Kempley, had never madeany news and was hardly known to anyone. The youngest daughter,Torrance, had never married and currently managed the entire family.Kiki was a test-tube baby.
So, Reuben was the disappeared eldest daughter of the Bryant family,Kempley's son?
He had half Pascaylia blood?
Joyce was lost in thought when Kiki suddenly ran up to her.
Kiki tugged at her sleeve, looking particularly excited, her feet bouncingon the ground.
"Wow, Auntie, hello! You're Andres’ mommy, right?"
"Yes," Joyce crouched down, gently looking at Kiki. "Hello, Kiki. Did youadjust well to the new nursery? Do you want to choose equestrianequipment? Auntie knows what to buy. Shall we pick together?"
Kiki nodded repeatedly. "Okay! Auntie, can you tell Andres to talk tome? I really want to be friends with him."
Joyce was taken aback. Were preschool girls this direct nowadays? They were talking about marriage at such a young age.
"Haha, does Andres ignore people? Don't mind it, Kiki. He has alwaysbeen like that. I'll talk to him," Joyce coaxed in a gentle voice."Mhmm," Kiki nodded repeatedly.
At this moment, Reuben shrugged beside them. "We have a strongconnection. Kiki likes your son."
Joyce's lips twitched. "It's just a friendship between children...”
Before she could finish, Kiki suddenly interrupted her.
“It's not true! I really like him. When I grow up, I want to be his bride. Iwant to marry him!"
Kiki's voice was sweet and slightly high-pitched, sounding more like aspoiled child.
Joyce, "..."
Children these days are really something. They talk about marriage atsuch a young age. She felt overwhelmed.
She smiled and touched Kiki's small shoulder, not saying anything. Itwas too early to worry about the next generation. Besides, when thetime came, she wouldn't have any control over it. Kiki seemedstubborn, and Anderson had such a strong personality; they wouldsurely havetheir own ideas.
Reuben glanced deeply at Joyce.
It finally dawned on him that, because of Kiki, he had inexplicablybecome one generation younger than her. This realization made himextremely annoyed. What the hell?
Joyce pulled Kiki along. "Kiki, let's go pick the equestrian equipmentnow, okay?"
"Okay!" Kiki hopped and skipped ahead.
Joyce followed behind and arrived at the H family's equestrian supplies. She helped Kiki select several necessary items, including hats, ridingcrops, and a pair of suitable riding boots.
She couldn't help but wonder why Kiki's mother didn't come to help herdaughter buy the necessary items for nursery school. Perhaps she wastoo busy?
After quickly making the selections, Grizela took the list and went to thecheckout counter.
Darrin had been standing by Joyce's side all along. Seeing Grizela goto the checkout counter, he looked around and said to Joyce,"Commander, we should go back now. Do you still need to buyanything? If not, I'll handle the payment.”
Joyce glanced through the items she had picked and shook her head."No need. I'm done shopping. It's getting late, and Andres should behome from school by now.”
"Alright." Darrin took the list and went to the checkout counter.
At the checkout counter, he stood behind Grizela silently, waiting.Grizela noticed someone standing behind her when she finished thepayment. Intentionally, she let her bank card fall to the ground.
Darrin caught a glimpse of it and quickly bent down, flicking his fingerlightly to send the bank card flying in a straight line.
Grizela instinctively caught it, elegantly holding the bank card betweenher two fingers.
"Thanks," she shook the bank card in her hand, not blinking, and thenturned to leave.
Darrin stepped forward to settle the payment, glancing at Grizela.
The two of them had already tested each other's skills in their previousconfrontation, exchanging moves for two rounds without a clear victor.A slight smile tugged at the corner of his lips. How interesting.
After settling the payment, just as Joyce was about to leave, shesuddenly heard a faint sound of a child crying, which caught herattention.
Reuben also became alert. Where was the crying coming from? Itsounded like a little girl.
Joyce followed the sound and discovered a delicately beautiful little girlcrouching in the corner of the elevator, holding her knees and crying, repeatedly calling out "Mommy."
