Chapter 1678: The Worst Woman

Reuben followed behind Joyce, looking around. "Strange, why is shealone here? Did she get separated from her family?"

“I'll ask," Joyce thought the same.

She crouched down, using the gentlest tone and a soft voice. "Littleone, why are you crying? Is there something I can help with?"

The little girl stopped crying and slowly raised her head.

Her big eyes were filled with glistening tears.

When she saw Joyce, she stopped sobbing and stared at her intently. In that instant when Joyce saw the little girl raise her head, she wasinstantly stunned.

What a beautiful little girl, so delicate and lovely. Her big eyes, with theirdark pupils, seemed to reflect the figure of a person. Every feature onher face was exquisitely refined.

Most importantly, why did she feel such a strong sense of familiarity?Looking at the little girl, she was reminded of Anderson from herchildhood. It had to be said that they shared many similarities in theirfeatures. It made her think of her missing daughter, Iris. Imagining thatif Iris had grown up, she might look similar to the little girl in front of her.Joyce's lips trembled slightly. The little girl had been crying and callingout "Mommy" in a soft, pitiful voice, filled with fear and terror. It almostbroke Joyce's heart.

This little girl had a mother.

Joyce asked gently, “Little one, are you unable to replace your mommy?"The little girl nodded, then shook her head.

Joyce was taken aback. What did it mean to nod and then shake herhead?

"Do you know your mommy's phone number?" Joyce asked again.

The little girl shook her head.

"How about I take you to the lost and found center in the departmentstore? We can broadcast a message there to replace your mommy, okay?"Joyce took out a tissue from her bag and handed it to the little girl."Don't be afraid, I'll protect you if we encounter any bad people.”

The little girl took the tissue, wiped her tears, and then wiped her runnynose.

She suddenly stared at Joyce, looking left and right.

Finally, she stood up abruptly and pushed Joyce forcefully. "No, you'rewrong. You're a bad person! Mommy said you're the worst woman inthe world! Stay away from me!"

Joyce was taken aback, unable to react in time. Afraid of hurting thelittle girl, she had to step back.

The little girl ran away in front of her, heading towards the depths of theaisle.

Joyce stood up, about to chase after her.

Reuben stopped her. "She doesn't appreciate it, why do you insist ongetting close?"

"She's just a child, and it's dangerous for her to be alone in thedepartment store.” Joyce shook off Reuben's hand. "Don't stop me, Imust help her replace her parents. Otherwise, I'll have to call the police.""You're overthinking it, she has already found them," Reuben pointed tothe end of the corridor.

Joyce followed Reuben's direction and looked over.

She saw a woman in black picking up the little girl from earlier. The littlegirl had a smile on her face as she reached out and hugged thewoman's neck.

Indeed, the little girl had found her mommy.

Joyce breathed a sigh of relief.

She looked at the woman's back and, for some reason, a strong feelingof familiarity rushed over her. Why did that figure look so familiar? In adaze, she thought of the woman she had only seen from behind twiceon the helicopter. She felt that there was a resemblance.

She shook her head.

How could that be possible? That wicked woman couldn't possibly behere. She must be overthinking things.

But now that the little girl had found her family, she felt relieved.Everything had happened so quickly.

Now that she had come back to her senses, she thought back carefully, and the appearance of the little girl from earlier did seem very familiar. An inexplicable sense of familiarity, a strange sense of closeness, andeven a hint of pain in her heart.

What was going on?

She took a deep breath. She must have been thinking too much.

Ever since returning from Mufron, she had been thinking day and night,Anderson was constantly on her mind, but she didn't want to express ittoo much in front of Luther, not wanting to add to his pressure andburden.

"Joyce, where are you going now? Can I treat you to dinner? I didn'tproperly thank you for what happened with my grandfather last time. When we met at the nursery, I was just dropping off Kiki and didn't havea chance to say hello to you. Tonight, let me treat you..." Reuben'swords were interrupted by Darrin.

"She won't go. We have other plans,” hesaid, cutting off Reuben. Afterthat, Darrin stood in front of Joyce, keeping anyone with unknownintentions away from her, especially those related to Rohomes.

Grizela glanced at Darrin disdainfully and muttered under her breath,"Hmph, who cares."

Joyce smiled and said, “I'm sorry, but I do have other things to attend totonight. Besides, I just happened to help your grandfather. It wasn't abig deal, so you don't have to keep it on your mind."

Reuben insisted, "A drop of water in need deserves a gushing spring inreturn, not to mention saving a life. Joyce, I will express my gratitude toyou."

Darrin, on guard, looked at Reuben and pulled Joyce's arm."Commander, we should leave."

Joyce nodded.

At this time, Grizela approached with Kiki.

Joyce waved goodbye to Kiki. "Goodbye, Kiki."

Kiki showed a sweet smile. "Goodbye, Auntie. Auntie, don't forget totalk to Andres, okay? Please, let him talk to me. I won't bother him. Ijust want to play with him."

Joyce smiled at Kiki. "Okay, I understand. I'll talk to him when I go back.Bye bye."

After saying that, she stood up and left with Darrin.

Reuben watched Joyce enter the elevator and fell into deep thought.Grizela stood by his side. "Your Highness, Joyce's bodyguard is quitecapable.”

"Of course, someone inferior to Joyce doesn't deserve to be by herside," Reuben said with a hint of intrigue in his expression. He becamemore interested in her. The sharpshooter, he really wanted to witnesswhether she was as formidable as the legends said.

Grizela looked at Reuben worriedly. If His Highness was reallyinterested in this married woman, what should she do? That womannamed Joyce not only had a child but also seemed to be pregnant.Otherwise, why would she be buying baby supplies?

His Highness was truly blinded by her. No, she had to replace a way tomake him see the truth.

“Your Highness, we came here with an important purpose. There havebeen developments on Suzuki's side. If they obtain the electromagneticpulse technology before us, we will be at a disadvantage. Please focuson these matters first, Your Highness," Grizela reminded dutifully.

“I'm doing the most serious thing," Reuben glanced at Grizela. "You'vewasted your efforts. And keep an eye on Darrin, who is with Joyce. Findout more about him."

"Yes," Grizela responded.
