Chapter 1702: Falling Ill

Chapter 1702: Falling lll

Luther raced all the way to Athena's seaside villa.

In the late night, everything was pitch black, with only a faint lightilluminating the courtyard. The withered branches trembled in the wind, creating a cold and eerie atmosphere.

Several black-clad individuals stood guard at the entrance. When theysaw Luther, they respectfully stepped aside.

Frowning, Luther forcefully pushed open the door and walked in."Athena! You better be telling the truth! Otherwise, I won't let you off!"His anger grew stronger as he entered the seaside villa in the middle ofthe night. Athena had called him there, claiming that Alisha was sickand looking for her father.

He couldn't be sure which words of this wicked woman were true andwhich were lies.

When it concerned Alisha, he had to rush over regardless of everythingelse.

At this moment, Athena was sitting in the living room. When she sawLuther, she wheeled her wheelchair closer to him. "What's wrong? Areyou angry? Bringing you out from that bitch's side. Aren't you happy?"Luther clenched his fist, struggling to control his anger. He couldn'tstand Athena calling Joyce a bitch. He wanted nothing more than tomake Athena shut up forever.

Athena pushed her wheelchair closer, her gaze greedily fixed onLuther's handsome face, unable to look away.

Suddenly, she noticed a faint scratch on his slightly open collar, revealing a glimpse of bare skin. Her eyes widened, burning withjealousy.

"Did you sleep with that bitch?" Athena nearly roared.

Following her malicious gaze, Luther instinctively touched his neck. There was an uneven mark there, a scratch left when things becameintense and Joyce couldn't resist his advances, unable to withstand hisassault.

He adjusted his collar, and a cold chill flickered in his eyes.

"What about Alisha? Is she really sick?" He changed the subject andasked.

Athena took a deep breath, suppressing her anger. She glared atLuther's covered neck, her chest heaving. "Do you still care aboutAlisha? She has a high fever and keeps calling for you. But you havethe time to sleep with that bitch?"

"Open the passage and let me see Alisha," Luther said impatiently, notwanting to talk to her any longer.

Athena endured it and gestured to the black-clad individuals beside herto activate the passage.

As the partition opened, the glass door also opened.

Luther anxiously looked inside and saw Alisha lying on the bed, herlittle face pale. She closed her eyes and murmured incessantly.

His heart ached. Athena hadn't lied to him; Alisha was really sick.

He rushed to the bed in a single stride and quickly embraced Alisha. Her small body was soft and weak, as if she had no strength, fragileand delicate. He whispered, "Daddy, it's Daddy, right?"

After asking, as if afraid he would leave, she used her weak little handsto grip his clothes tightly, refusing to let go.

“It's me, Daddy is here to see you," Luther held her tenderly. Loweringhis head, he saw her tightly holding onto his clothes, her grip so tightthat he felt his heart shattering.

"What happened? How did Alisha suddenly have a high fever?" Lutherturned around abruptly and questioned Athena.

Athena smiled and sneered, "She's just a child, how would I know whyshe's sick? Maybe she missed you. Who made you not by her side?"Her smile contained a touch of malevolence.

In fact, she deliberately had someone push Alisha into the swimmingpool, freezing her body as she trembled when she got out of the water. It didn't take long for her to start running a fever.

She knew very well that Alisha had been in a coma for a long time, relying on machines to sustain her life. Even now, after waking up, herbody was still weak. But she didn't care. After all, Alisha wasn't herchild. Everyone was just a tool for her to use. If they became useless, there was nothing to regret.

Alisha murmured, "Daddy, don't blame Mommy, it's my fault. I playedand fell into the swimming pool. The water was so cold, I'm so cold.”As she said this, Alisha shivered uncontrollably.

Luther held her tighter, comforting her, "It's alright, Daddy is here. You'llbe fine, Alisha, you're not cold.”

Perhaps feeling the warmth of Luther's body, Alisha nodded.Exhausted, she closed her eyes again and fell asleep in his embrace. Her weak hands still tightly grasped his clothes, refusing to let go.Luther held her tenderly, his fists clenched tightly. He refusedto believethat Alisha had fallen into the swimming pool by herself. That damnAthena, this heartless woman, it must have been her doing. Sherepeatedly targeted a child.

What made it even more troublesome was that Alisha believed inAthena and defended her.

Seeing Alisha asleep, Luther asked, "What medicine did you give her?"Athena shrugged. "Just regular fever-reducing medicine."

"Nothing else?" Luther furrowed his brow.

"A child gets sick, and it'll be fine in a day or two. Why would you needother medicine?" Athena sneered.

Luther picked up an ear thermometer and measured Alisha’stemperature. "Beep, beep.” The screen displayed her temperature: 40.1 degrees.

Luther gasped. It had exceeded 40 degrees. No wonder Alisha was in adaze and her body felt dangerously hot.

"No, I'm taking her to the hospital. It's not just a common cold. Fallinginto the water and then having a high fever, it's likely pneumonia,”Luther said as he held Alisha and stood up.

"Nowhere are you allowed to go." Athena blocked Luther. "You thinkyou can take her away? Don't even think about leaving here."

Her fierce gaze swept around, and soon, more than ten black-cladindividuals gathered, surrounding Luther with their guns.

"Can't you see how high Alisha's fever is? Can fever-reducing medicinecure pneumonia? She'll die!" Luther roared.

"You're simply unreasonable. She's just a child!" Athena crossed herarms, her expression cold and indifferent. "So what? Do you likechildren? I can give birth to them for you. How many do you want? Ican give birth to as many as you want."

"You!" Luther's eyes seemed ready to devour her. He knew Athenawouldn't easily let Alisha leave her control, nor would she allow him totake Alisha to the hospital. As long as he removed the detonator fromAlisha's body, she would lose control over her.

But he didn't think that far. He just wanted to cure Alisha's pneumonia. However, forcefully taking Alisha away would only cause her moreharm. This mad woman was capable of anything.

Time was running out, and he couldn't afford to delay. Luther said in alow voice, “In that case, let my personal doctor come here and giveAlisha an intravenous drip."

Athena nodded, able to accept this level of compromise.

"Fine, but my people will bring him. He'll come blindfolded," she said."Okay." Luther agreed.
