Chapter 1755: He Finally Had a LegitimateStatus

"Beep beep beep."

The call ended. In the dark screen, there was no sound to be heard.Luther stared blankly at his phone, his heart trembling. He was holdingAlisha in his arms, trying to put her to sleep.

Joyce's sudden phone call made him squint his eyes. Despite knowingthat the call could be monitored, he still answered it in the end.

He didn't expect to hear Joyce's heartfelt confession. Her voice seemedto be trembling, a detail that only he, who was familiar with her, couldnotice. His heart ached for her; she must have encountered somedifficulties that made her unable to suppress her emotions.

He had once yearned so much for her love. He had nearly gone crazywith his desires.

But now, she had deeply fallen in love with him, and he felt lostbecause he didn't know what more he could give her. He had only ashort three months left to live. If he couldn't accompany her for alifetime, what would she do?

He didn't dare to think about the future.

He could only focus on the present.

Finish one thing and then think about the next.

Alisha suddenly looked up from Luther's arms. "Daddy, who was on thephone?"

Luther lowered his head and gently caressed Alisha's pale face.

“It's nothing, a wrong number," he replied.

Alisha looked at Luther with confusion. "But you seem suddenlyunhappy, Daddy. Alisha hopes you can be happy.”

Luther ruffled Alisha's hair. "Hmm, it'll be soon.”

He gently patted Alisha's shoulder, and soon, Alisha fell asleep. Overlyattached, her small hand still held tightly onto the fabric of his shirt, refusing to let go.

He stood up, carried Alisha to the bed, and slowly released his clothesfrom her grip.

His deep gaze suddenly became heavy.

He had made up his mind.

No matter how difficult it was, he had to take action in advance andremove the detonator from Alisha's body!

Even if it was for Joyce, he had to take the risk and try it.

On the other side.

Civil Affairs Bureau.

Felix felt like he was in a dream. He was actually at the Civil AffairsBureau with Vicki, heading straight there. He had called the high-levelofficials of the bureau along the way, asking them to prepare a VIProom for him. He could have summoned the bureau's staff to theSaunders family and had the formalities done there on the spot.

But doing that would feel like something was missing, lacking a certainsense of ceremony.

His marriage couldn't have any flaws. He had waited for four years. Finally, when Vicki finally agreed, he was afraid she would change hermind. When she said that the best way to retaliate against theSaunders family was to become the mistress of the Saunders family, heimmediately took her away from the Saunders family and went straightto the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Although Vicki was known for keeping her word, he still couldn't helpbut worry. He wanted to have the certificate in hand to make it the mostreal.

Upon arrival at the Civil Affairs Bureau, Felix got out of the car first andthen opened the car door for Vicki.

Vicki looked at him speechlessly and with a hint of amusement. "Areyou in such a hurry? Aren't you worried about my wounds reopening?Aren't you supposed to say that I need to rest?"

Felix felt a bit awkward. "I was going to carry you so you wouldn't haveto walk. Since your legs aren't injured, there's no need to carry you.Besides, it doesn't look good."

After speaking, he reached out to carry Vicki, but she gently swatted hishand away. "Stop it. I can walk by myself. My legs aren't injured, sowhy would you carry me? It looks ridiculous.”

After speaking, she got out of the car on her own.

Felix closed the car door and held Vicki's hand, leading her towards theCivil Affairs Bureau. They quickly arrived at the VIP room that had beenprepared for them.

The staff members were waiting on the side, and there was a photobackdrop set up.

The photographer smiled and said, "Please sit here for the photo."Felix pulled Vicki to sit in front of the backdrop. Vicki looked at thecamera and couldn't help but furrow her eyebrows. "I hate takingpictures. Can we skip it?"

Felix hesitated for a moment.

Without a photo, how could he prove that he had married someone? He coaxed her with a gentle and kind tone, "Just one photo, please."Vicki glared at Felix fiercely.

Felix hesitated for a moment.

"Alright, sit up straight and look at the camera. Yes, justlike that. Youtwo, move closer together. Yes! Smile a bit, smile more. Thegentleman's smile is perfect. Lady, please give us a smile," thephotographer patiently guided.

As they were VIP clients, they had to be patient.

Finally, Vicki forced a smile.

The task of taking photos was reluctantly completed.

Felix let out a sigh of relief.

It was extremely difficult to get Vicki to take a photo, so he had nevertaken a picture with her before. He never expected that their weddingphoto would be the first and perhaps the only one. He couldn't imagineVicki agreeing to take wedding photos, let alone pose in variouspositions. He was afraid she would knock down the photographer onthe spot. Just the thought of such a scene was terrifying.

There was also the matter of the wedding banquet. They could forgetabout the Saunders family, but they had to gather their brothers fromthe underworld. He didn't know if Vicki would be willing to attend. Oh,and their friends, Luther, Joyce, and Yuezi Qian. They had to celebrate. He was eager to announce to the world that Vicki now belonged to him!Felix suddenly snapped back to reality. What was he thinking? He hadactually daydreamed and lost himself in his thoughts. He shouldn't thinkabout the future; instead, he should focus on signing the documents, asthat was the most important thing.

Next, the task of filling out the forms fell to Felix alone. He finished hisown form and then filled out Vicki's form as well.

The staff members looked at Felix with confusion.

Mr. Saunders was indeed in a hurry. It was rare to see a man so eagerto get married, as if he was begging to be married. It seemed as if hewas afraid the woman would change her mind. On the other hand, Vickisat casually to the side, her legs crossed, looking leisurely. Mr.Saunders seemed to be the one worrying about everything.

The staff members marveled at the scene they witnessed today.

After Felix finished filling out the forms, he had already signed his ownsection long ago.

He walked up to Vicki with the forms and also handed her a pen.

“You sign here. You need to sign both pages.”

Vicki took the forms, but instead of immediately signing them, sheflipped through them and carefully read them.

Seeing her hesitation, Felix grew nervous and held his breath.Fortunately, in the end, Vicki signed her name with a bold stroke.

In just a second, Felix took back the forms and handed them to the staffmembers.

The staff members looked at Felix with suspicion.

Mr. Saunders was in such a hurry. It was rare to see a man so eager toget the certificate, as if he was afraid the woman would change hermind. On the other hand, Vicki sat casually to the side, legs crossed, looking relaxed. Both inside and out, it seemed that Mr. Saunders wasthe one worrying about everything.

The staff members were amazed. They had witnessed somethingextraordinary today.

After Felix took the forms back, the staff members quickly prepared twomarriage certificates and stamped them with the official seal.

When Felix received the two marriage certificates, the tangible feelingmade him feel a sense of unreality.

He looked deeply into Vicki's eyes.

They had received their certificates. He finally had a legitimate status!
