Chapter 1787: Finally Caught You
“It must be Anderson. He's controlling the smart devices in the houseand seeking help from the outside," Luther said, his expression growingmore nervous. He was almost restless, wishing he could abandon thecar and fly over.
"Mr. Warner, something's not right. Look, there are flashing red lights, like fire department signals,” Darrin said. As the car sped closer to theWarner residence, the sound of the fire alarm became faintly audible.Luther quickly rolled down the car window, and sure enough, the sharpsiren grew clearer.
"Anderson must have triggered the fire alarm system. The firedepartment is coming. Hopefully, they can buy us some more time," heimpatiently tapped the edge of the car window. He couldn't wait foreven a second.
"We're almost there! Please hold on!" Darrin reassured, though hehimself was quite anxious.
He felt responsible for this. Initially, the marshal wanted him to stay atthe house, but he insisted on accompanying the marshal, turning theWarner family into an unmanned place. It was his recklessness thatcreated an opening, giving the enemy an opportunity.
If something happened to Anderson, he would be held accountable. As Darrin raced back to the Warner family, the scene before themmade their hearts skip a beat.
The long avenue was blocked by numerous black SUVs, clearlybelonging to OGW. The fire truck couldn't enter; it could only stopoutside the iron gate.
The doors of the fire truck were all open, indicating that the firefightershad already entered.
Luther's car couldn't enter either.
They had to leave the car outside. Luther, Darrin, and three otherspecial forces soldiers ran toward the direction of the Warnerresidence.
While running, Darrin asked, "Mr. Warner, we are outnumbered. Wedon't know how many people they have. It's too dangerous to rush inlike this. Shouldn't I go and assess the situation first?"
Luther vetoed, "No, I must personally rescue Anderson.”
He took out his handgun from his waist and remained on high alert."Okay, Mr. Warner, be extra careful," Darrin nodded at the other threespecial forces soldiers.
They all took out their advanced Glock pistols, equipped with high-capacity magazines capable of holding 17 rounds. These three soldierswere the elite of the elites selected by Darrin. Compared to OGW, theyhad no problem facing ten opponents at once. Plus, Darrin himself hadextensive combat experience.
Just as they were about to reach the front entrance of the main house, there were sudden loud bangs from inside. In the dark night, the abruptsound had absolute penetrating power, sending shivers down theirspines.
The house seemed to tremble.
Luther's heart sank completely.
"Not good, it's a precision explosive device,” he recognized itimmediately since he had studied explosives.
Darrin could also tell. After the precise positioning, this type ofexplosive device had tremendous power. Although it didn't harm thesurroundings, the damage it caused to the targeted area was terrifying. What were they doing inside that required the use of explosives?Darrin became even more nervous.
He kicked open the front door and saw Mr. Arnold lying motionless onthe ground. He couldn't tell whether Mr. Arnold was still alive, but hedidn't have time to worry about it.
Inside the living room, the firefighters were strewn about, most of themsubdued, groaning on the ground. However, OGW didn't intend to killthem.
Water covered the floor, and sprinklers on the ceiling were still drippingwater.
The scene was a mess and unbearable to look at.
Luther, Darrin, and the three special forces soldiers remained on highalert as they approached step by step.
As they kicked open the door, the black-clad figures in the living roombegan to attack them.
Bullets flew mercilessly.
Darrin dodged to the side, while Luther hid behind a pillar.
Then, they seized the opportunity and eliminated several of the black-clad figures on the spot.
Luther moved forward, concealing himself in the tea room. The livingroom was in disarray, with debris and broken glass scatteredeverywhere from the explosions. At the far end of the living room, themain point of the explosion was faintly visible.
It was the bathroom.
Also, the explosion-proof and earthquake-resistant safe room of theWarner residence.
In front of the bathroom door, the ground was already blasted beyondrecognition. There were several large holes in the ceiling, with limecontinuously falling from above.
From a distance, they couldn't see if the bathroom had been blownopen.
Luther and Darrin glanced at each other, understanding the situation. They both thought that Anderson must have hidden in the bathroom.Anderson had indeed taken control of the entire house's fire alarmsystem and lighting system, flashing signals to seek help anddelayingthe fire department's arrival.
Anderson was truly remarkable.
At this moment, a whistling sound came from outside, indicating thatthe mercenaries Luther had dispatched had arrived.
Luther breathed a sigh of relief; at least they were not alone.
It was fortunate that Anderson hadn't been taken away from the Warnerresidence yet. Otherwise, the enemy wouldn't be so ruthless and stillattempted explosions.
Due to his previous mistake, Darrin was a bit anxious. He wanted tomake up for his error and was about to rush forward to confirm ifAnderson was still in the safe room of the bathroom.
Suddenly, Luther grabbed hold of Darrin and pulled him behind himself, pushing him to the ground. At the same time, he shouted, "Everyone, get down!"
“There's a second explosion!" he yelled.
Before his words even finished, a thunderous roar erupted.
The sound was almost capable of piercing through the roof. The livingroom was filled with dust, and debris and shattered glass flew into theair.
The power of this explosion was even greater than before.
Luther remained on the ground, firmly holding down Darrin. He couldhear the faint sound of a fuse, allowing him to deduce that there wouldbe a second explosion.
Darrin’'s heart raced, grateful that Luther stopped him in time.Otherwise, he would have been severely injured from facing theexplosion head-on.
Countless fragments fell upon them, covering their bodies and heads. The air was filled with a foggy haze, making it impossible to open theireyes and see ahead.
Finally, when the dust cleared slightly, Luther helped Darrin up.
But when they looked in the direction of the bathroom straight ahead...They were both stunned.
Anderson was being held by a black-clad man, suspended in the air byhis neck, completely defenseless.
Anderson seemed to be unconscious, his head tilted, eyes closed. Hemade no attempt to struggle, and apart from the thick layer of dust onhim, he appeared unharmed.
The black-clad man exuded an air of wickedness, exuberantlyconfident. His long hair fluttered in the wind as he burst into laughter."After all the effort, I finally caught you."
Luther watched Anderson being captured, and his whole beingtrembled, almost suffocating.
Could it be? The leader of OGW, Cloud?!
