Chapter 1793: Be Careful on the Road
After a while, when the nurse came in and injected Alisha with asedative, she finally calmed down. Her small, delicate body leanedagainst Luther's chest, motionless.
Reuben stood by, feeling sweat all over his body. Dealing with the childwas more exhausting than performing a surgery.
At this moment, Anderson approached slowly, getting a close look athis pink and delicate sister. He asked, "Can I touch her?"
Luther nodded.
He asked, "She just cursed at you and said she hates you. Aren't youangry at all?"
Anderson gently touched Alisha's cheek with his small hand. "I'm aman. I won't get angry over such a small matter. She feels so soft, andshe looks adorable when she's asleep. It's amazing that she's mysister. I had only heard about it before, and it didn't feel real at all. Butnow, I finally have her."
"Unfortunately, she refuses to recognize us," Luther sighed.
"Dad, why are you in such a hurry? We still have plenty of time.Memories before the age of four become fuzzy, so why worry if shedoesn't recognize us? Being together as a family is the most importantthing," Anderson understood and consoled.
"Kid, you're only four years old yourself. You talk as if you're an adult,”Reuben teased from the side. "Can you remember what's happeningnow in the future?"
“I can. I'll record what happens and take pictures, upload them to mypersonal cloud, and review them frequently to deepen my impressionsso that I won't forget. We can make things happen if we put effort into it.I'm sure you don't remember what happened when you were a child,"Anderson retorted to Reuben.
Reuben fell silent.
He had forgotten that Anderson was a precocious child, a genius. Hisway of solving problems was different from that of ordinary children. Ofcourse, he didn't remember anything before the age of four. How nice itwould be if he did remember. Those were the beautiful moments hehad spent with his mother.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
He took out his phone, and the screen showed that Grizela was callinghim.
“Your Highness, where are you now?" Grizela's voice soundedsomewhat anxious.
"Hello, what's the matter?" he asked. "I'm still at the hospital, somethingunexpected happened here."
"Your Highness, something has happened in Rohomes. We need toreturn as soon as possible..."
Grizela briefly explained over the phone, and Reuben's expressionbecame increasingly serious.
"Okay, I understand. Bring the car over here, and I'll come down whenyou arrive,” Reuben instructed, and then he hung up the phone."Sorry, Mr. Warner. I'm afraid I have to leave first. There's something Ineed to take care of. Alisha's surgery went well, there shouldn't be anyproblems. Get a CT scan for her this morning and send me the images.Make sure her wound doesn't open and that she avoids contact withwater. When it heals, you can remove the stitches,” Reuben said.Luther nodded. “Thank you so much this time for all your help. We aregrateful. Thanks to you being there, Joyce was able to stop thebleeding in time. Do you need any help with the situation on your end?"Reuben thought for a moment. "Actually, we might need your help, butnot at the moment.”
Luther patted his arm. "Just let us know when you need it."
"Okay," Reuben replied, and then he approached and carefully checkedAlisha's wound. He advised, "Try not to use sedatives anymore. She'sstill a child.”
Luther nodded. "Alright."
After Reuben left, Darrin followed him downstairs.
"You don't have to accompany me," Reuben said politely.
“It's only right. You saved the young master's life. If you need anything, just let me know," Darrin respectfully said.
As they reached the ground floor, Grizela happened to drive the carand stopped at the hospital's main entrance.
Darrin escorted Reuben to the car, opening the door and inviting him toget in.
Grizela caught a glimpse of this scene from the driver's seat andmuttered to herself, "Hmph, some people usually have their noses inthe air, but today they suddenly know how to be respectful?"
As she said that, she looked at Darrin and suddenly noticed a long scarstretching from his jaw to his neck.
She exclaimed, "Oh my god, you're injured! What happened?"
Darrin instinctively touched his neck. It was just a minor injury, and hedidn't have time to deal with it or pay attention to it.
“It's nothing. I gotscratched by debris during the explosion,” he replied.Grizela was taken aback. "Explosion?!"
She quickly took an antiseptic ointment from the console and handed itto Darrin. "Don't take the wound lightly. It can be troublesome if it getsinfected and keeps recurring. Especially for wounds caused by anexplosion, you should get a tetanus shot.”
After speaking, she suddenly stopped herself.
What was she doing? She was actually showing concern for Darrin.Seeing him injured, her mind went blank, and she acted withoutthinking. It was madness.
She couldn't take back the ointment she had handed out.
Darrin slightly bent down and took the ointment from Grizela's hand.Their fingers accidentally touched.
Both of them felt a slight electric shock, and their hands quickly movedapart.
Reuben sat in the back seat, watching this scene. Even he hadn'tnoticed that Darrin was injured. He had already heard about whathappened at the Warner residence and knew about Anderson almostbeing captured. He knew about the explosion, but he hadn't paidattention to the fact that Darrin was injured. It was Grizela who hadsharp eyes.
Darrin looked at Grizela, feeling a bit embarrassed. His handsome faceturned slightly red. He looked away and thanked her, "Thank you."Suddenly, he seemed to remember something. He leaned closer to thecar window, almost touching it. He said, "Be careful on the road andremember to contact me if you need help. If you encounter anyemergencies, don't panic and prioritize your safety."
Being so close, Grizela could feel his warm breath. Her face grew evenredder, and she didn't dare to turn her head to look out the window."Mind your own business," she muttered, biting her lip.
Darrin smiled unconcernedly, "I'll be waiting for your return.”
Grizela's mind went blank, feeling awkward. She cleared her throat,“Your Highness, we should leave now."
After speaking, she quickly stepped on the accelerator and drove away.Darrin waved goodbye in the direction they were leaving.
Grizela glanced back a few times in the rearview mirror, only to seeDarrin’s tall figure standing in the wind. He looked even more uprightthan usual. Her cheeks couldn't help but burn. What was wrong withher? His light words had stirred something in her.
Reuben watched this scene with a profound meaning in his eyes.
The captain of his family's slow-witted guard had apparently fallen inlove.
