You Hit My Heart
Chapter 199

Damn Joyce, it's early morning back in the country, she didn't answerhis calls all night, and now she's with another man.

"Sorry, you may have misunderstood. I'm Officer Karl from the SecondPrecinct of the Police Department,” Karl explained, sensing Luther'sstrong hostility and jealousy.

"Second Precinct of the Police Department?" Luther remembered thatKarl was the police officer who handled Lauren's case last time.

"What happened, and why do you have Joyce's phone?" At thismoment, Luther's heart sank, and he immediately realized thatsomething was not simple.

"Oh, it seems that your family did not inform you. How strange." Karlsmiled inwardly. The complicated side of a wealthy family, which heknew all too well.

That's why he called Luther. It was time.

"Joyce, something's wrong?" Luther asked uncertainly, his eyesdarkening and even his voice trembling. His brain almost stoppedfunctioning.

“Your grandmother, Stephanie, died yesterday at 4:00 p.m. The causeof death is unknown at this time. Your wife's cell phone is in mypossession for the time being. I hope you will come to the police stationas soon as possible. If you need to bail Joyce out, I can assist you withthe process. Goodbye." Karl finished his sentence in one breath andhung up the phone without waiting for Luther to reply.

He had achieved his goal. He thought that there was no wayJacqueline would come forward to bail Joyce out. What he didn't expectwas that they would hide even the news of Stephanie's death fromLuther, and he didn't know what they were up to.

He did not want Joyce to stay in the detention center and suffer, so hehad to inform Luther to bail Joyce out.

The officers had gone to work on it, and once the warrant was revoked,Joyce would be eligible for bail.

Oh, there would be a good show from the Warner family then.

He couldn't help but remember what Dustin had said to him in the earlyhours of the morning while he was waiting for his analysis report.

“I admire the deceased. Although I don't know what the reason is,perhaps she can't hold the pen because of her hand paralysis, but fromthe writing marks... It might look very simple, just crossing out theshares inherited by Jacqueline and Shelly both, adding a 0 afterJoyce's 1% shares, and making it 10%. I can see that these threestrokes, she used a long, long time to complete, and she must havebeen exhausted. The deceased has a strong mind and perseverance tocomplete these strokes of writing. And judging from the handwriting, itperfectly matches her usual writing habits and strokes."

"Karl, this case is not simple. The will that the deceased took greatpains to modify before she died must have a deep meaning behind it."Karl certainly could not understand the meaning of Stephanie's last will. But what he could foresee was that there was a hand behind thecurtain reaching out to Joyce right now.

Joyce, now in the detention center, could be extremely dangerous.

As a police officer, he went far beyond his job. Even, what he wasdoing now, was against the rules. He didn't even know why he wasdoing it.

In his mind, he remembered Joyce's clear, bright, beautiful eyes, whichrevealed a purity rarely found in the world. Perhaps, he also could nothelp but be infected by her.
