You Hit My Heart -
Chapter 200
Mufron.
The driver was driving the luxury business car.
Casey looked at Luther in the back seat, and Luther's face was full ofshock, pain, depression, and disbelief. Casey did not hear exactly whatwas said on the phone, but looking at Luther's face alone, he also knewthat something big must have happened. He did not dare to ask.
In the car, everyone felt like the air was getting thinner and thinner.Gradually, they felt it hard to breathe.
Dead air. They had never seen Luther with such a terrible expression.Casey did not even dare to breathe.
Luther looked at the dark phone screen and didn't say a word.
Karl hung up the phone, but he could never get back to himself fromthe call.
His brain already went blank.
Did Grandma pass away? When he left, he had been told the newtargeting drugs had worked, and Grandma's health improved. Herchest water subsided, her pain subsided, and Jamie said she could livefor a long time. Today he was suddenly told that his closest relativepassed away.
No matter how he tried, he just could not replace a way to contact Joyce, and as it turned out, she was taken away by the police and put into thedetention center.
Joyce was at the scene of the crime and was even listed as a suspect. How was it possible, how was it all going on?
The worst thing was, neither of Jacqueline and Shelly had everinformed him!
“Luther, what's wrong?" Casey finally couldn't help but ask with concernwhen he saw Luther's livid face clouded with gloom.
Luther took a deep breath and sorrow dripped from his voice,"Grandma passed away."
"Ah!" Casey immediately shut up. God, he didn't expect such a bigthing to happen to the Warner family. They came to Mufron for businessat such a time, and he was insistent that his boss meets with ProfessorWilliams.
The business car sped along. They were actually quite far away fromthe private airport, and it would take another half hour for them to getthere.
Casey privately urged the driver, "Hurry up, it's an emergency.”
The driver understood what he meant, step on the gas, andaccelerated.
At that moment, Luther's cell phone rang again.
He picked up his phone and saw that it was Jacqueline calling. Hepicked up the phone with a blank face.
Jacqueline and Shelly just got back from the detention center back tothe Warner residence, and Jacqueline rushed to call Luther. It had beennighttime in Mufron and she was afraid that she could not contactLuther if she did not do it now.
After the call was answered, Jacqueline deliberately squeezed herthigh with great force, and she was almost sobbing, “Luther, there'ssome sad news for you. Your grandmother, passed away yesterday, oooh ..."
She was on the phone as if choking up.
“I know you grew up closest to your grandmother. You must not be toosad and you will have to take care of yourself."
Luther interrupted and asked, "Why didn't you call me yesterday then?"Jacqueline was stunned. From Luther's tone, it sounded like he alreadyknew? No, who could have told him?
"Yesterday, yesterday, we were all terrified ... then we didn't even havethe time for that. We just got too many things to deal with, just, just ...so we did not tell you." Jacqueline stammered.
"Yes?" On the phone, Luther's voice was almost emotionless.
“Luther, I did not dare to tell you. I was afraid you wouldn't be able totake the shock. I have been thinking about a better way to tell you thenews. Listen to me, don't get excited. Your grandmother died yesterdayafternoon around four o'clock, the police said. It was asphyxiation, andthink it could be a homicide. Joyce was at the crime scene at the time.At that time we rushed back to the house, Joyce still had a gun in herhand, she held the gun at us, your grandmother was lying on theground, not breathing.” Jacqueline began to add fuel to the fire, "Laterthe police came in. They got Joyce and seized her gun. Hey, I wasreally scared to death."
